Stables have been a cornerstone of wrestling promotions all over the world for decades. Yeah, for anyone thinking this is something new, just go back to the 80s-90s and ask yourself what the Heenan Family was. Perhaps not as formal a stable as we often see today, but there was still the idea that to get to, say, Andre or Rick Rude or Mr. Perfect, you first had to fight through someone like Hercules or Haku or the Barbarian. Or take a look at Dusty Rhodes teaming up with Magnum and the Road Warriors, or Hulk Hogan having Beefcake or Tugboat around, etc. Honestly, I don't get the complaint about stables at all. If we were to gain something in terms of storytelling or show quality by having fewer alliances and more people flying solo then fine, that's at least an argument, but the argument here seems to be "we need fewer teams/alliances/stables...because reasons." We complain all the time about WWE repeating matches endlessly on every Raw or SD, or we complain about WWE pairing random singles wrestlers in tag matches with no motivation beyond "Hey, we're both faces/heels!" or whatever. Well, a stable/alliance helps alleviate this: you can further a feud without having to run the same matches over and over again because you can swap out which members of which team you feature each show; you also avoid having pointless team-ups because of course friends and teammates are going to work together. Hell, the classic AJPW setup for its main event scene was that you'd have one of the Four Pillars as the Triple Crown champion, but then you'd get a combination of two of the others (or a guest partner) winning or fighting for the tag titles; having friends/partners/stablemates allows a singles wrestler to slide neatly into the tag division if you'd like to feature them there or have a less expected challenging team to the current tag champs. And again, we're not looking at a setup like, say, mid-00s Dragon Gate or current NJPW where you've almost exclusively got very formal stables, with defined membership, team logos, etc. There are definitely some, like Inner Circle, Pinnacle, Dark Order, and Team Taz, but a lot of these team-ups are more casual than that, like loose alliances or just people who happen to have each others' backs when the time comes, ala what Moxley and Kingston are doing now, or Butcher and Blade acting as mercenaries for whomever pays best, or Cutler being with the Bucks because everyone knows their friendship goes way back. Some of these groups are clearly built to last, some of them will clearly cycle through people being in or out of them or will only be temporary for a given storyline. End of the day, like all other things in wrestling they just need to serve a purpose, both for in-kayfabe storytelling and for non-kayfabe "how do we feature all these guys we want the audience to care about?" purposes. As long as we're getting that, then who particularly cares how many teams/stables there are? Teams and stables help streamline storytelling and help keep things fresh, so I'm fine with nearly everybody on the roster having some kind of an alliance with some number of fellow wrestlers, with very few flying solo (makes the lone wolves stand out all the more, no?).

People have talked about there potentially being trios titles. Having a lot of stables would come in handy for that.

Gonna assume Trios Titles would work much better in showcasing talent they have Especially since they already made the TNT Tag Belts joke on a BTE... can't remember which one but they are definitely aware lol

It’s just less Scooby Doo and more like Wacky Races.. I’m not sure what your point is here but if wrestling was more like Wacky Races, we’d be in our 27th boom period. Here come Darby and Sting in the Creepy Coupe

I don't really mind the stables. I wish some of them worked more like CHAOS, in other words, the members all pretty much do their own thing but come together when needed.

Maybe it's because wwe have rarely done it right and often f*** up groups but I'm fine with all the stables. The more the better imo.
That being said a QT lead stable is incredibly lame lmao. I like most other stables though.

I like most other stables though. It does depend on who's leading the stables, and if the members fit together or not. X-Factor bombed because X-Pac didn't look like much of a threat to anyone, and didn't evolve his character after DX for so long.

Meh, in MMA and boxing you have stables. AKA, America's Top Team, etc.
If anything, it makes slightly more sense. Everybody in AEW has friends or allies somewhere along the way, which I really hope puts an end to a heel trope I'm tired of, which is the gang beatdown. You mean to tell me that 5 dudes are beating one guy to death in the ring that he doesn't have at least ONE friend that'll come out with a bat, a chair, anything really, to help?

I think the worst part is when the faces revert to the "Dumb Babyface" cliche and come out one at a time to save their friend only to get ganged up on by the united heel front. At least come to the ring in force to be on more even ground.

I like most other stables though. QT is a channel changer. I don't think a heel turn will savage that. Lets look at the rest of the group. Nick Comoroto is much more believable heel. Ogogo has some hype around him. He's impressed me in the 2 seconds I've seen of him. Aaron Solow is the most Darkyest Dark wrestler to ever Dark. When being Bayleys Ex is the most interesting thing about you, hopefully this stable will bring a character out of him.

I thought QT looked like the jobbiest jobber to ever job. I still think that yet it kinda works, pissed off trainer bitter about his own failings living vicariously through his students could work providing he does more managing than wrestling.

I kind of thought this was where they were going with the Bucks in regards to Kenny/Good Brothers. They still might be, who knows.

Everybody saw what happened with the NWO when no one in wcw banded together to fight them, so The Best Friends were gonna have none of that!

I think it works if the purpose is to highlight the younger talent in the stables. If the focus is squarely on QT with the likes of Comoroto, Solo, and Ogogo being window dressing, not so much.

For my own mind, I went and gathered every stable that I could think of in the company:
Best Friends - Chuck, Trent, Orange, Statlander Bullet Club - Omega, Good Brothers, Young Bucks, Callis, Nakazawa Dark Order - Uno, Stu, Silver, Reynolds, Five, Colt, Ten, Anna, Hangman, Tay Death Triangle - PAC, Penta, Fenix Hardy Family Office - Hardy, Butcher/Blade/Bunny, Private Party Inner Circle - Jericho, Guevara, Hager, Santana & Ortiz Jurassic Express - Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, Marko Nightmare Family - Cody, Dustin, Lee, Gunn Club, Velvet, Arn QT's Nightmare Family - QT, Comoroto, Ogogo, Solow Pinnacle - MJF, Wardlow, FTR, Tully, Spears Peter's Pretties - Avalon, Nemeth, Drake, Bononi Team Taz - Cage, Starks, Hobbs, Taz, Hook
That's twelve factions if we're counting a few trios. AEW also has a few non-faction tag teams and/or close duos that have tagged.
TH2 Acclaimed SCU Top Flight Janela/Kiss Miro/Kip Chaos Project Sydals Page & Sky Moxley & Kingston
Then you have Archer, Cutler and Christian who are seemingly alone (minus Archer having Jake ringside and Cutler's occasional teaming with the Bucks).

I think there's got to be some middle ground whereby I like stables, but don't like nearly every segment being groups of four or five mostly non-descript guys wearing black and brawling/delivering promos about another group of four or five mostly non-descript guys who also wear black.
There are other ways to tell stories, and really less is more. To be honest, when you're throwing 50 people on TV every week in a two hour TV show, the vast majority have no chance of getting over anyway.
Give me four or five stables, with some way of telling one from another.
