I cant post a link as I'm on my phone (if someone could I'd muchly appreciate) but Dave Meltzer is reporting that Nick Khan has approached NJPW officials to propose an exclusive working and talent sharing relationship between the two companies.
Could end up being a non story, but if it did it would have a big impact on AEW, Impact and the indy wrestling scene, with guys like Moxley being current NJPW champions and NJPW wrestlers on Dynamite, Dark and Impact. Personally I really dont want to see it. My interest in NJPW is at an all time low and this wouldn't be the thing to bring me back.

I mean, I think they'd need a better approach to it then "Tell the owner they'd be in the HOF and ignore all questions about what will happen with said company and relationship" that pretty much hindered all STARDOM acquisition talks but I also kind of see this going nowhere unless it's REALLY beneficial to NJPW.

Yeh this smells of a trying to cut off NJPW from AEW/Impact,no wonder Vince loves Nick Khan.
But NJPW would be fools to at very least not hear then out, while I wouldnt go near WWE if I was a mildly successful promotion without at very least good insurance, the upside is great.
I think any time you sign an "exclusive" deal of any sort with WWE,hope for the best and prepare for the worst

Does NJPW really want to see their people jobbed out and treated like jokes just so they can have to access to low level WWE talent?

This would be absolutely awful on so many levels.
Number one, WWE are blatantly only doing this because Aew have entered into a unofficial partnership with NJPW. And like WWE always do, whenever something big or exciting is happening and it doesn't involve them their first instinct is always to get involved and try and kill it.
Everytime a wrestling company gets involved with WWE it doesn't go well for that company. WWE impose their will onto you and long term they eat you up and spit you out.
I'm sure Nick Khan will be telling New Japan they have great ideas for the partnership and all the big matches and long term storytelling they can do. Vince may even be on board today. But we also know they could sign the paperwork and be official exclusive partners and then one day Vince could wake up and decide he has changed his mind completely and tonight on Raw we're having Baron Corbin pin Naito clean in 3 minutes.
I mean my God 15 years after WCW died, Vince couldn't help but book Sting vs HHH as WCW vs WWF, in which WWF went over and JBL insulted WCW all match.
The two companies are just so different in mindset and presentation I just can't see how it would work. Okada having to take part in spooky nonsense with the Fiend is a horrifying image.
I ultimately don't see this happening, and I really really hope it doesn't.

I really doubt this is them actually having a discussion, and more like wwe reaching out to njpw. New Japan is probably well aware that they shouldn't go into a deal like this.

NJPW doesn't need WWE and would be crazy to even think about this. There's nothing to gain by any company working with that cesspit.

Interesting that this got out. There's a reason for that.

This was my first thought when I read the story, that it's Nick Khan wanting to open dialogue rather than there actually being dialogue. I can't really see what NJPW gains from this, it's not like AEW where several of their top wrestlers are already established in Japan and it's with a company who've historically had very one-way "deals". Honest question, how much name recognition does a Roman Reigns or Baron Corbin actually have for fans in Japan?

What this leaking says to me is that NJPW wants people to know they're trying this.

This would be awful for New Japan and wrestling in general.

What this leaking says to me is that NJPW wants people to know they're trying this. I didn’t think of that but yeah, that makes all the sense in the world. And again, the only way we knew about the STARDOM negotiation was because Ogawa came out and said it happened.

There was something awhile ago about the WWE not wanting to look like they wouldn't be open to working with other companies. They probably reached out to NJPW, don't see any more than that.

This makes WWE look sad.
This is one of those things where Vince is trying to "hurt the other guy" unnecessarily. You know, that thing Vince claimed he doesn't do in the Monday Night Wars dvd.
They could have partnered with NJPW 20 years ago when WCW closed if they wanted. They are clearly doing this for the sole reason of trying to hurt AEW, and that's pretty sad and pathetic. If they want to hurt AEW, they should just make better shows.

That would be great. I’m sure Bryan would be more interested in signing if he could work New Japan as well.

If they want to hurt AEW, they should just make better shows. I don't think AEW is the sole reason. Getting NJPW under their boot would also be beneficial to them (in theory) of also crushing it and making it dependent on them while having a more direct inroad to poaching their stars and would also give them a huge opening to step into the Japanese market and start tearing down other companies as well. This is part of WWE's goal to be the one and only wrestling company of consequence, not strictly about AEW.

Highly doubt he wants to work full-time overseas. He’s likely most comfortable in WWE given his family, but wants to be able to work other territories from time to time based on what he’s said in interviews.
