Name dropping Jungle Boy as a "child" wrestling. Jungle boy who is over, good in the ring, and has a great look. Yes, that "child." Jungle Boy who is in a few years ging to get some pretty fat offers from WWE for being a 'child'. In three years when WWE again gives up again on trying to avoid signing indy talent, they will throw a lot of cash at the "kids" AEW have built up in Jungle Boy, MJF, Sammy Guevara, and others. Will be the only way they can have stars.

TNA for much of their life has been a promotion without a fanbase, existing in a TV soundstage a few days a month and some offices. AEW started life with a sellout event and in their short life have most likely drawn more paying fans than impact did in their first decade of life, and that's in spite of a pandemic. It never would have lasted more than a year without other peoples largesse, first that healthcare company, then the Carter family, while AEW quickly became self sustaining with live events, merch and TV all working as they should. As much as the WWE would like AEW to be amateur hour all over again, no-one believes that, not even Voldemort's fanbase.

He's the same age as Randy Orton was when they made him World Champion, but he wasn't seen as a child, although he could be childish when it came to stupid backstage tantrums and pranks.

Even taking the TNA comparisons to heart, the bigger issue is that WWE's got an extra fifteen years of atrophy weighting them down now. They've driven off more and more of the non-hardcore fanbase that kept them insulated against competition. Impact doing around a million viewers weekly against RAW doing five million didn't amount to much; Dynamite doing around a million when RAW can't crack two million is a far bigger threat.

AEW will probably never touch WWE's heights as a media empire juggernaut. That's not sour grapes, that's business. This is coming from someone who loves AEW and thinks WWE has been putting garbage on a plate for its audience for at least the past 5-6 years.
It's absolutely hilarious to watch the top brass at WWE look at a company that's obviously gaining traction and doing well for themselves and compare it to TNA in any capacity.
Rarely do I use this term, but I think it's apropos here: somebody at WWE is butthurt from seeing the new kid on the block actually have some success and show competency.

The crazy thing as well is, I think executives and Vince are saying what they said because a part of them knows that they could have prevented an AEW from happening if they made better calls on stuff that, really, wouldn’t have been that big a deals financially.
Imagine a reality where CM Punk got to headline WrestleMania, Cody/Dustin got their WrestleMania singles match, FTR were listened to about improving the tag division, WWE’s developmental system didn’t consist of buying every talent in America but rather getting those they needed for what they were doing, if that same system was sending mixed messages a lot, if Balor Club properly happened, just so many small ripples that might have been able to curve resentment or make a billionaire’s son think he could do it better.
And it wasn’t even just with AEW existing; Imagine a world where Evolution II happened a year after the first one did with better promotion and such? Empowerrr and the ROH Women’s title tournament wouldn’t be a thing.
And that’s before you get into the choices of firings and how across all of wrestling, they’ve shown what they could do when, like, they had the presence and financial manpower to do some of that themselves. It’s just such a weird thing to think about.

Weird that they'd criticize AEW for booking "children" when their new hiring strategy is allegedly to focus only on trainees under 30.
Y'know, people the same age as Jungle Boy.

I'm pretty sure AEW has had four events within two months time (United Center, All Out, Newark Arthur Ashe) that were bigger events and venues than TNA/Impact ever sold. All over 10,000 fans. They have either sold them out or are getting really damn close. To the notion that AEW is using "Children"? Well those "Children" are damn good. Also what the f*** is Dominick Mysterio then? The whole gimmick that he has is that he is a child! They had Braun Strowman win the tag titles with an ACTUAL child. And frankly I'd rather be watching talented "kids" like Jungle Boy, Griff Garrison, Dante Martin, and Julia Hart than see WWE cart out old part timers for main events instead of actually building new stars and for the future. They have no idea how to build for the future and haven't for years. And now that a new company that is on the fast rise actually DOES show they're competent, can sell out big arenas, and build new stars? They're scared. Maybe Vince isn't, but I guarantee people around him with any sensible thought in their brains are. Highest domestic crowd was 6,700 for a 2013 ppv. When running house show circuit would averaged under 1k in the USA. I think comments by executive here aren't that recent.

Isn't their main thing right now a woman with a living doll They're also pushing a woman who acts like a little kid in a superhero costume. Holy f***, the more I think about it the funnier that comment gets.

I think comments by executive here aren't that recent. I mean, even if those comments weren’t recent, Vince has been saying this stuff publicly in investor calls since the company started so it’s not exactly one that’s faded if the boss is saying them.
