I think comments by executive here aren't that recent. I mean, even if those comments weren’t recent, Vince has been saying this stuff publicly in investor calls since the company started so it’s not exactly one that’s faded if the boss is saying them. Hell, AEW Show #1, Double Or Nothing 2019, beat out most every TNA/Impact show in live attendance and I think every TNA/Impact show in PPV buys.
It's also funny because Jungle Boy would be an internally hyped up signing if they got to him first. Very athletic, good talker, distinct look, son of a celebrity WWE fan (who tragically passed away).

I'd be surprised if those were real quotes. They certainly could be, I have no idea, but there's absolutely no way that anyone (besides Vince 😒) thinks that AEW is anything close to what TNA was, or what Impact is.

This is just hearsay at this point, but to the extent that it’s true f*** WWE. I’m not sure there’s ever been a business to get so successful in a field while having so much contempt for fans of that field.
Like WWE isn’t absolutely beside itself at the idea of being able to push legitimate Hollywood superstar Luke Perry’s son. Gtfoh with that.
There’s 30 years of damage and viewing habit to undo, but man it’s going to be a glorious day when Dynamite finally catches RAW.

In fairness, how many new wrestling companies have had success of aew in past 40 years?!

One thing I’ve learned from even paying attention to people who run companies to some degrees; there have been, and still are, a lot of stupid people in high profile positions. Not saying that confirms it but, well, that’s just true.

What’s worse is they were probably referring to Marko Stunt and thought he was Jungle Boy since he’s always with JE.

Well, none, NJPW was the closest with some of the international expansions but as Dagoth pointed out, they were already killing the TNA comparisons from Show 1. Again, January - May 2019, have all the doubts you want. Hell, even slightly after that for the next show to see if it was a fluke. After that? I mean, the proof is in them putting NXT next to it, really.

Still, stuff like American Gladiators debuted with big audience but petered out. Two years later Aew has proved its not going away.

I mean, American Gladiators (the comeback anyway) was there to fill programming during the Writer’s Strike and the public pretty much knew that was why. So when the proper shows came back, that’s where they went.

Another TNA? Not enough jerking off in trash cans and Michael Shane.

What I wanna know is how he got these executive texts. I'm not doubting that it was said but the fact he's seen texts like this is weird. Exactly what executive is letting this dude of all people see screenshots? I don't know.

Calling a 5'10 wrestler 'a child' is exactly the sort of amazingly regressive and out of touch bullshit that has gotten WWE to this point and keeps them from realizing how much f***ing talent they have on their hands. The only thing keeping this company's hubris from making it go down like the Hindenberg is nostalgia and habit. I can't wait for the day when Jungle Boy reaches that next level. It'll be hilarious to see how badly that comment aged.

A good point was brought up: did Andrew Zarian even say this or is it some Twitter rando making it up and attributing it to Zarian for reasons.

Can't even get worked up about stuff like this. It reminds me of when Bryan Alvarez had an aneurysm on WOL because WWE said the Blood and Guts match set wrestling back 30 years... right after they had Alexa doing things Papa Shannon's 30 years ago... and let's not talk about how WWE assured Fox that CM Punk would not be a draw.
Look Zarian has made it quite clear that both WWE and USA executives both highly underestimated what AEW would be... hell Warner was expecting shows of 250k and said that would make them happy.
End of the day AEW has been proving people wrong and they are growing. Not just in viewers and popularity but with sponsors. In the business world AEW is being viewed as cool and a lot of people want to jump on the bandwagon before it explodes

Yep... and don't get me wrong this shouldn't be an anti WWE at all. But literally everytime AEW announces an ambitious show (for lack of a better word) people keep doubting AEW and they keep defying expectations... I know for a fact that the owners of Arthur Ashe said they'd be happy with AEW selling 5k tickets... needless to say they were stunned by the ticket sales. Hell im convinced the first stadium show is gonna be Craven Cottage and people will say that's crazy and I bet that show sells out too when announced. AEW just has to keep doing what they're doing. I'm pretty confident in saying AEW is growing commercially much faster than Tony could have hoped (pretty sure he had it budgeted to lose money for 3 years) and that's what they have to keep doing

Even as someone who took way longer to give up on WWE than most, come on.
Tony "gets it" way more than Dixie ever did.
