But will Hangman be blamed??? While the ratings were good they basically had 3 long promos in a row.I wouldnt surprised if there was a small drop Ah 4d chess. Repeatedly bore everyone by doing back to back promos and give Hangman crappy segments with Dan Lambert to tank the ratings. He then has something to be anxious about and thinks maybe he can't shoulder the responsibility of being champion so he has an overarching story again. Thankfully looks like Cole is next which can involve The Bucks and Dark Order and be far more compelling. I mean evne if you argue the promos werent bad. It would still be a lot of non-match time back to back.

There’s only one answer to pump that number up…
Do I even need to say it? (*glances toward avatar*)
Yes yes. I know he was on the show. But clearly he needs to be on MOAR.
/s (maybe.)

I don’t think Kendrick being pulled did anything to the numbers honestly Maybe not outstandingly, but I'm curious how the shows numbers looked tbh Moxley vs. Kendrick was at least a more interesting match on paper than Mox vs. the Best Friends' young boy.

My guess is it's a mix of South Park, the long stretch where they just had a bunch of (mostly bad) promos right in a row, and the choice for the main event to run as long as it did.

Multiple non-wrestling segments close together just make the show drag for me, and that Brandi/Lambert segment sucked.

Once again the women division stuff the lowest point of the show, for real they shouldnt have done the Lambert/Brandi segment vs South Park premiere..

"The women's division was the lowest point of the show" Dude, read the graph literally right in front of your face, the start of Punk/MJF had less viewers than the women's match, if you're talking Key Demo you're still talking semantics since it was pretty even throughout Brandi/Lambert also didn't seemingly drop the viewers since the drop started during the last two minutes of the Danielson promo, it was just a weird stretch of promo time, but they also had to stretch time for how the card went.

In general I have no idea why AEW seemingly every week now does these 20 minute promo blocks when every single time the ratings plummet when it happens.

Looking at the top 5, looks like a lot of competition for men I. Key demo which is where AEW is usually stronger. South Park, nba game, World Cup qualifier

What this can really be blamed on is the show just didn't start with the usual 1.2 million it had been the last few weeks. More than likely there were more viewers tuned into the South Park premiere at 8PM and that in turn made Dynamite's average lower, but at the same time, the show held steady the entire show, outside of the dropoff from the lead in, it gained a little and lost a little the entire night. Punk/MJF started low, surprisingly, but gained as it went which is what you want. What I'm saying is, it could have been worse, and the fact we're looking at 950K as a "bad number" for averages now says a lot about the bar AEW continues to raise. I remember when we were content with 850k... how quickly shit has moved lol

I have to wonder if that was the actual plan this week, I imagine Mox/Kendrick might have gone a bit longer than Mox/Yuta, but yeah it's probably a good idea to stack the next show with wrestling given it's a bigger arena and a bigger show. They have that Inner Circle segment already announced which will probably draw a rating though because they historically always have.

On the bright side, the MJF vs Punk match did gain viewers as the match went on. So people on Reddit who were bragging that Punk doesn’t draw can shove it.

In 2022 AEW has been hit with moments that they were forced to stretch matches or segments that went longer than expected due to covid, injuries and last night due to social media backlash, in way its just bad luck and also it has to be annoying for TK to adapt and restructure the show at the last min like WWE does it.
Looking at the top 5, looks like a lot of competition for men I. Key demo which is where AEW is usually stronger. South Park, nba game, World Cup qualifier USA vs Honduras was pretty much a squash but AEW has some fans who also like soccer, the good thing thatis no more WCQ until late March. They mightve brought up that Kendrick and Danielson are real life friends and the promo couldve gone longer.

That's a bummer given Punk/MJF was so good. I'm genuinely surprised by that number, TBH. If I were AEW I wouldn't be worried, but it may inspire me to throw some wacky stuff on next week's show.“What’s UP, ALL ELITE WRESTLING?!?”

Doesn't South Park usually air at 10PM? Maybe it's because it was the season premiere. Yes and it is only 30 minutes. Not a very great excuse.

When it starts at the same time as Dynamite, it's probably still gonna hurt the lead in and the likelihood of people tuning into the show from the jump or period. That .44 demo is ridiculous. Basketball and the World Cup Qualifiers probably didn't help either, these weeks can happen, I don't see it being a trend since before this the average was actually increasing for like a month straight.

Wonder what would have happened if they started the night with Punk/MJF.
