Yay for for continuing trend of having both the Rumble Winners main event a night of Mania but yuck at the actual matches And not to be a dick but if dude was hurt bad enough that you couldn’t even tell the story you wanted to tell (and basically needed for a compelling finish), the f*** was the point of sticking Drew in there to go the distance? Have him eliminate the happy goofs and out. It’s the Rumble, there’s a million ways you could get him out but my goodness, these people specialize in being hardheaded And if Sasha couldn’t work, why send her out there FIRST and then just deflate people by having her taken out so early? Yeah, that story about NXT people being there and doing nothing makes both of the injuries worse. Like, would the Rumble matches be majorly worse if Ciampa or Dunne replaced Drew or Io or Dokota replaced Sasha?

I have no desire to see Roman lose the WWE Title via MITB cash in.
I really hope they don’t go through with the Champion v Champion thing which at this point looks like becoming a retread of the Mania 35 main event complete with Becky losing 1 Title a month later. Just do something more creative for goodness sake.

Roman losing via cash in after being champion for this long, would be such a cheap cop out.
Do I think WWE might do it, yeah. But it would suck.

I'm pretty sure that is how it's going to play out, Roman is going to be walking out of the Metroplex with both titles, and it's going to be Edge doing the cash in at MitB.

MITB is the first premium live event after mania? That’s not until July 4th weekend? Nothing planned for May,June?

Only “defense,” and it’s barely one at that, it allows someone who’s established to take the belt of him, BUT saves the rub of really beating Roman for someone who would benefit.

I actually super appreciate these plans because all of this sounds f***ing awful and gives me ample reason to not even consider watching this show despite inevitably be kicking myself for doing so if I did.

Yeah there’s really NOTHING here that sounds appealing so far.
That’s astonishing.

I would do Becky vs. Ronda this year because it is a bigger match than Charlotte vs. Ronda. Who knows what roadblocks may happen in a year's time (injuries, pregnancies, someone quitting, etc.)? That said, Becky is more likely to win if it is Ronda's last match instead of her first one back.

I remember when Mania’s use to have good to great matches and stories up and down the card.
That is far more fun and interesting than sitting through 4 hours of filler just for the one or two matches the old man in charge actually gives a crap about.
Especially if they stretch it to two nights.

The funny thing is that you have to figure people wouldn't be reacting too negatively to some of these projections if the on-screen product was at least hinting at some other wrestlers getting sustained pushes or builds in the meantime; like, sure, feature and highlight your biggest names, no problem there, but keep things moving in the midcard/upper midcard to ensure that the next step in the story will be there.
Instead, there's this feeling that the next year is already charted out (plans can always change, obviously) and it's still going to be Roman/Brock/Rock on the mens' side, Charlotte/Ronda/Becky on the womens'. If there was a genuine sense that there's a new crop ready to challenge the old guard right after that'd be one thing, but the outlook is pretty dim at this stage.

Yeah people might be more forgiving if it felt like there was any sense that they had cool/interesting other stuff for Seth to do, or Sasha, or KO, or Drew, or Rhea Ripley, or Asuka, etc. Ok that is something.
But it feels more like “here’s the four or five people we actually care about at all and the two or three matches we want to do this year”. And everyone else is a complete afterthought.
That’s bad.

Some of this stuff you already knew, others not so much. From the latest newsletter: - Roman vs Brock is slated to be title vs title as the main event of Night 2 as its the "best direction creatively" (my note: it won't merge the divisions, as MITB is the first show after WM, so expect Roman to drop the WWE title there via cash in).- Roman vs The Rock is the planned main event for Wrestlemania 39. - Charlotte vs Ronda is the plan for this year's main event for Night 1. - Becky vs Ronda is the plan for next year's Mania. No word on if it'll main event or not, assuming its a two night show again. - Bayley and Asuka are expected to be back by time Wrestlemania rolls around, Lacey has no real timetable for return Rumble News: - NXT was slated to be part of the Rumble this year and several talents were backstage (Dunne, Knight, Shirai, Kai), but they weren't used, and no reason was given. - Banks and McIntyre were both late additions to the Rumble. Drew got himself cleared and will be careful until Wrestlemania. - The finish to the Mens Rumble was going to be Lesnar winning still, but he would have been taken to his limits by McIntyre, but due to time constraints, they had to rush the finish. Then why have Brock win the title at Day 1? Why not give it to Lashley and have Brock win it at Elimination Chamber? Why needlessly pad out Brock’s title reigns?

Brock was a surprise entrant in the 4 way. It made sense for him to go over. Brock losing a five way is still Brock losing. Brock vs. Lashley is still a big money match. Which ended in Brock losing they arent going to have him lose twice in a row. Its all booked around "Brock cant lose" and if he does its because of cheating or some bs. Its the Flair/Becky/Rhonda nonsense where its for all the gold but it doesnt matter since one title can be lost but not the other.

All that says to me is that absolutely nothing is planned to change in 2 years. No new stars elevated to main event level, just the same old faces.

The sad part about this Ronda/Becky thing is that Becky is likely going to be the strongest she's been prior to the match. We aren't done with mega strong Becky sadly. They always make these superstars super strong heading into the match and if its a big one like this one that'll continue.
We're dealing with a mega strong Becky, Ronda, Reigns, Lesnar and to a lesser extent Charlotte. Never have I see so many stars this super strong in one entire period of WWE since I started watching. Usually it's 1-2 but all at the same time? Hell, I read today that Goldberg is gonna mix it up too so he can be added to the list.
We're in a nasty timeline.
