I mean, if you didn’t want her pinned and tried to come up with an elaborate plan to protect her, don’t have her in the match?
At least common sense came through for once. You can likely rebuild Alexa for the future.

You can likely rebuild Alexa for the future. Yeah, I never get the... we have to protect these people from losses! So... like... don't book them in a match then? If you think you have to protect them but don't want them to win... the more obvious solution is to just throw someone else in their place...

You can likely rebuild Alexa for the future. Imagine if they took all that care for protecting people and nudged it over just a little bit. Just like a degrees over to the left before shooting their shot. And instead of fretting over how to book convoluted messes, they actually wrote their show with those ideas in mind from the start instead of the endlessly convoluted juggling act they have to devote all their time and energy to instead.

I'm glad they had Alexa lose. At this point, she's more or less Teflon, she can afford the loss, especially considering Bianca's credentials. It isn't like Alexa hasn't been a multiple-time champion at this point, she can afford to get pinned by another former champion.

Good. This idea of clean losses in WWE being seen as some kind of irreparable death so we have to protect people from losing clean is why clean losses in WWE are seen as some kind of irreparable death.
Literally no other promotion has this issue.

the way they did it worked ok, alexa had the match won but was conflicted about going to the dark place and use the mandible claw which gave bianca time to recover and get the win to show that alexa's not all there just yet to further her storyline while getting Bianca the mania match.

For a company that has publicly stated 'wins & losses don't matter', they seem absolutely terrified of having anybody lose.
It's not like they have 6 hours of weekly national television to build them back up or anything.

They're not doing anything with them, so use them to give Belair or Ripley a decisive elimination. Ripley could have been given Bliss's role of making it to the end before losing.

Alexa doesn’t need “protected” jeez.
Franky Rhea should have been the last one out anyway. Rhea and Bianca is the feud that is just waiting to happen.

Where was this concern about making Bianca looking strong during SummerSlam?

Where was this concern about making Bianca looking strong during SummerSlam? They believed they were giving her an out. WCW once had Lex Luger pin Sid Vicious in 3 seconds with a clothesline and sold it as Luger catching Sid by surprise. Same idea here.

They could have put Carmella in here instead. She’s competent enough and a loss would not hurt her.
They did not HAVE to put Alexa in here just to have her lose immediately upon her return. Also Bianca got some boos when she did that, which is not good since this was all about putting over Bianca
They keep booking themselves into these corners and they never seem to learn to just, not do it.

WWE: But if we have people lose clean, then we have to actually build them back up; and that’s hard.

I mean, I also can’t really see Sid accepting a handshake from Lex Luger before taking said clothesline because that’d make Sid look dumb. Adding to that the fact that Lex has an in-canon (and real life) metal plate in his arm so any shot from that arm would potentially knocks him out. Not saying that was your intention with using that example but there are glaring differences between the two.

Alexa is one woman who doesn't need to be protected all the time. She's like the Horsewomen in that someone beating her doesn't make her any weaker.

Alexa losing IMO is not the problem here IMO.
The issue is this is her return after weeks vingettes building up her return ...and then she loses.
THAT is the problem...they should have simply put Carmella or Zelina in there (not like they got any actual tag teams to wrestle) and then have Rhea and Bianca be the final two.
And saved Alexas return for either monday or just a bit later.
THIS is the shit that is gonna get people to start turning on Bianca.

Sid had his back to Luger, turned, got clotheslined, and pinned. "Got caught" was the rationale used.

Where was this concern about making Bianca looking strong during SummerSlam? Also to be fair, her getting the win back most likely at WrestleMania will make up for that in their minds.
