Yeah, not as strong as last week (but that’s slightly unfair because what f***ing could be) but it’s nice to expand Na’an’s character a bit and Paul Wesley’s growing more and more as Kirk considering the shoes he’s filling. He and Christina Chong have astonishingly good chemistry for it being an episode of TV.
EDIT: Also as I think about it, props to the writers and directors for basically working through Anson Mount leaving for a bit to pretend he can't talk and get his head blown up by Elizabeth Olsen. It's really helped in fleshing out the other characters around him including Spock, Christine, La'am and Una.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} I was not thrilled with the ending of this week's episode. I really hope this doesn't turn into 'we were on a break'.
Also, I've only seen half of the original series but I certainly had the impression that it was only ever tension between Chapel and Spock, that they hadn't acted on it.

I do like with the episode two weeks ago that James T. Kirk is shown as someone who perhaps falls in love too easily. It's much more accurate to the Original Series character, as opposed to the Kelvin timeline movies making him out to be a f***boy.

Also, I've only seen half of the original series but I certainly had the impression that it was only ever tension between Chapel and Spock, that they hadn't acted on it. {Spoiler}As we know from Amok Time, T'Pring ultimately chooses Stonn as her mate. Since they're co-workers at the El-Keshtanktil agency, this break gives them a reason for the two to get better acquainted and ultimately get T'Pring to choose him over Spock by the time Spock's pon farr compelled him to go to Vulcan and complete the marriage ceremony.
What this episode did is provide T'Pring context for why she ended up not wanting to marry Spock beyond the "Evil Manipulative Female" cliche TOS presented. She feels that Spock doesn't trust her. Maybe she tries to make it work with him after their break, but that lingering feeling of mistrust never truly goes away. But it seems like Vulcan customs don't allow for her to unilaterally break off the marriage arrangement until the marriage ceremony and she can claim the kal-if-ee challenge.
As for Spock and Chapel, TOS did give it a sense of unrequited infatuation. But I think it can work with a new context of "old flame wanting to rekindle a romance," too. And an older, wiser, and more uh... Vulcan Spock is just logic-ing her. Maybe he had started his process of Kolinahr by then, which was finally completed by TMP. Or maybe he ends up following in his father's footsteps and he and Chapel marry sometime in the TOS movies timeline or a little after. [/div]

That definitely puts things in a different light then.
Still not sure that I'm up for Spock/Chapel but the show has been good so far so I'll see where it goes.

Slowly catching up with Strange New Worlds episode (one behind) but after the screening of the Lower Decks crossover at San Diego Comic Con, they went ahead and said "Yeah, we're putting this up later today because F*** it"
So yeah, we're getting it early, kids!
Oh, and also this;
We're being fed well for goofy Star Trek!

So sue me, I'm impatient. My flatmates just told me they're going to the cinema tomorrow to see Barbie and considering that'll mean I won't be able to until Thursday at the earliest...

Holy shit, I hate musical episodes with a passion, but that... doesn't look terrible? What sorcery is this?

I was grinning like an idiot from start to finish. Very much the same. So many things to give props to and the pressure to do something like this must have been massive but they pulled it off. {Spoiler}The space bug showing up on the Enterprise in the animated intro had me dying. There was no reason to include it besides to make me laugh.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}The space bug showing up on the Enterprise in the animated intro had me dying. There was no reason to include it besides to make me laugh. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I loved that little touch, and M'Benga's delivery of "What the hell is in these things?!" had me in stitches. Also the gag that touches on the differences between the way people talk in live-action and animation was very clever. I loved Chapel and Ortegas f***ing with Boimler, and his heart-to-heart with Pike over making the most of the time you have with people. They handled the crossover about as well as it is possible to do so. Boimler and Mariner are essentially us going into Strange New Worlds – they, like us, had pictures in their minds of some of these characters that were very much influenced by the portrayals of those characters in TOS and the movies, so their surprise seeing them before they'd grown into the people played perfectly. Also, why didn't anybody tell me Tawny Newsome was so hot? Edit: I totally missed the "Riker" exclamation!

Edit: I totally missed the "Riker" exclamation! {Spoiler} This just makes sense when you remember Jonathan Frakes directed this episode. 😆 Pretty much agree with what else you said but also the part where Uhura and Ortegas geek out about Archer’s Enterprise and then go “Are we turning into…them?” and Spock just saying “It is exhausting” is just wholesome. The fact the whole thing wasn’t just a slapstick fest or anything hopefully reminds people both shows are just so loving of the fact they’re Star Trek shows. I could just list moments I liked which is a real testament to, again, how much work it must have been to put it together and make both sides click. [/spoiler].

Just got a chance to watch the crossover. It was fantastic. I do enjoy that each of the Strange New Worlds crew all had a moment of humor. If was genuinely a fun episode.

The SNW/LD Crossover was so wonderfully entertaining and fun. I loved every second of it. And you know Frakes loved directing the "Riker!" scene.

Currently in the middle of the musical episode. This is wonderful and now I'm wondering why it took so long for star trek to have a musical episode.

However, if Strange New Worlds continues putting out so many fantastic episodes that might change.
