It's amazing how little Sid/Shawn at the 1997 Royal Rumble matters in the history books. You have their top babyface winning the title back in a massive stadium in his hometown. It makes sense why it got forgotten given how that title reign ended and what took place the rest of the year. But for a major title win in a face's hometown, it's an incredibly tiny footnote in WWE history and might be one of the most forgotten title wins that belt has ever had.

Cena’s first win with the Big Gold belt was a return in his hometown of Boston in 2008, but he won the rumble the way he did that way which I also feels overshadowed his SS 2008 win.

I also remember having really mixed feelings on that win too since it felt like Jericho was just getting started and there could be a fun chase but no, he just won the title.

Here's a forgettable BIG match: Brock Lesnar VS John Cena at Extreme Rules. The only thing memorable about it is that Lesnar lost his first match back in WWE in 8 years.

That match was great though and one of the most memorable of the decade. Watching that live was an experience. People were legit afraid for Cena’s health with the beating he was taking. People talk about it all the time. If you want a post-Wrestlemania PPV match that looks huge on paper but is almost forgotten…Rock v Goldberg. I’m surprised that one isn’t talked about more often. Rock’s selling and antics in that match are incredible. It’s almost Michaels v Hogan levels in how comedic his selling for Goldberg is. I think it kind of hurt Goldberg though. Rock seemed to be doing everything in his power to get the crowd to laugh and cheer for him. Goldberg already had an uphill task getting the WWE crowd to embrace THE WCW guy.

I remember that match pretty fondly... John got his ass kicked... and everyone (possibly including the WWE with the post match promo) thought he was legit injured

Pretty much any HBK moment.
Such a forced push, that just didn't work.
The two things he's remembered for, the screw job and the Hogan match, are just him being an unsufferable douche bag.

DDP winning the European title. Him winning a singles title in WWE should've been big, but they DESTROYED his value the year earlier.

I can’t stand Shawn but even I could easily name a dozen moments of his that are fondly remembered. Dude literally had a reputation for stealing the show at the biggest event of the year almost every year. I think the Ironman match and his first title win are overrated (not forgotten though). It was a boring match and the building was half empty for his big celebration.

OK I have to make the joke, don't I? The end of WrestleMania XX? Wait, I remember that perfectly. Triple H and HBK ended in a no contest, double KO that was so brutal that the World title was held up and vacant 'til Summerslam. So Eddie Guerrero came out to celebrate by himself as the sole WWE champ!

Turning on Jannety, His ladder match with Razor, his first title win at mania 12, his return vs HHH, retiring flair and getting retired by Taker are a few I remember off the top of my head

To me there are only a handful of BIG MOMENTS in the history of WWE. Hogan beating Shiek, Hogan slamming Andre, the formation of the Mega Powers, the Cobra biting Macho Man. There's more, but the closest HBK has come to a big unforgettable moment, other than the ones I mentioned, is being the guy Austin beat for his first title.

Remember when Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in NXT was gonna be the best match you ever saw in your life and then it was cool but unspectacular

I feel like it was supposed to be a “BIG” moment but HHH retuning to the Royal Rumble at #30 in 2016 was a far cry from Cena and Edge returning to win it a few years prior.

Dean Ambrose winning the WWE title. Also forgot that on that night, all three members of the Shield held it.
