Not since The Shield have I been so heartbroken about the shocking betrayal and breakup of a world renowned stable.

They needed the turn, but Finn had to have won on Sunday in order for the turn to work. As it stands right now, it's a severe downgrade as the group is trading a certified ace with a choke artist. This is a key problem with WWE and why they are incapable of growth as long as the money just magically flows to them; back when they had to write good or at least competent shows, it was for the sake of survival, but given that the funds will come no matter what they do, there is no incentive to pay attention to the logistics of the narrative. It’s not like Edge was winning clean, however. He won at Mania via Priest interference and via Rhea interference at Backlash and HIAC.

HIAC was a 3 on 3 tag match though, it was clean compared to the other two.

I saw someone else mention that too and it made it make more sense to me. Last night I was thinking why in kayfabe would they ditch Edge for Balor when they won on Sunday but thinking on it, it was presented as Balor being the better man and having the match won until Rhea distracted him, just like she also saved Edge at Backlash when Styles was about to finish him off and Priest saved him at Wrestlemania. Edge was the weak link, he was going to lose all of those matches if they didn't bail him out.

And that's fine.....but you know they will continue winning that way with Finn just taking up the Edge role.

I don’t think this will really help Finn get more over.

Edge was talking down to them though like he was the grand leader and they were merely his disciples who should be grateful he blessed them by taking them under his wing yet when push came to shove he needed them more than they needed him. While we won’t know for sure until a few weeks pass and we see some promos I didn't get the impression last night that Balor is completely taking over Edge’s gimmick as the clear leader with two lackeys. Priest is the one who got the final line before the betrayal and took the first shot then later Ripley won the main event and the other two came out to celebrate. It felt more like a Shield style 3 equals now rather than like Edge being the Hogan in NWO or HHH in Evolution clear number one.

In reality; Finn was floundering hard. Arguably Finn’s best run in the E has been his heel NXT run. Now sure, he has to carry around the lifeless corpse of Damian’s WWE career on his back now, but any direction for the man besides “show up and ” is a win in my book.

Well hopefully AJ doesn't try to help Edge now because that definitely wouldn't make any sense.

Well hopefully AJ doesn't try to help Edge now because that definitely wouldn't make any sense. He 100% will. We are supposed to feel sorry for Edge after calling us fat idiots somehow. This whole "Asshole gets his ass kicked by his friends" turn never works out. Look at Evolution turning on Orton. The crowd will still pop for Edge though cause of the comeback story etc. I think he can get away with brutally assaulting someone and still be the face. Like someone else said, it'll probably be Beth vs Rhea or at the very least AJ, Edge and Beth vs Finn, Rhea and Damien. It sucks cause I was enjoying this new Edge. WWEs fans just never allow wrestlers to evolve. This was the same with Matt Hardy. The Broken stuff changed the business but they just wanted him to be 90s Nostalgia Act. Same with Bully Ray. Let older characters freshen themselves up just like Jericho does

I demand Edge vs. Finn in a ladder match for the rights to the color purple. With Whoopi Goldberg as special referee. (Yes, I recognize that might be too far of a pull for you youngsters on the forum).

It sucks cause I was enjoying this new Edge. I was too, I thought the new theme was excellent and Edge becoming the Elder Vampire was great.

Dammit, this means it's the end of BulLiv Club. Unless, Edge teams up with AJ and Liv, now.

From Fightful. Basically, WWE wanted to make the group more "supernatural" and Edge was against it:
A big shift in the WWE roster was made with Finn Balor joining Judgment Day, and Edge being booted out.
We can confirm PWInsider's report that Edge has been moved back to the babyface side of the internal depth chart as of Tuesday. For those that are asking if the move was reactionary to Cody Rhodes' injury, we're still working to confirm that, but it seems more reactionary to the direction that WWE wanted to take Judgment Day.
We're told that WWE had mentioned taking Judgment Day a "supernatural" route, which Edge was said to have been opposed to. Word started to emerge in the afternoon hours ahead of WWE Raw that a big shift involving Finn Balor and Edge was set to happen.
Although that was firmly set on Monday, the pitch to have Balor as a member of Judgment Day came well before that. Fightful sources had indicated to us the week prior that Balor was set to turn heel and join the group days before Hell in a Cell. However, there was no mention at that point of Edge leaving the group.

I'm not sure MORE Supernatural is the right play here... but I Guess it's a direction... instead of the I'm kinda supernatural and kinda generic heel... meshed together in a completely unsatisfying way.

More supernatural's at least something more substantive than, "Goths who are very opinionated about sports."

Semi supernatural and semi generic "you people and your bad local sports teams" was bombing. Personally if I were turning Finn heel with a swerve then I'd go the Real Rock 'n' Rolla route.

I don't get the confusion.
Edge was clearly possessed all this time by The Damian Side
