He's off TV for weeks without an explanation in or out of kayfabe, finally was back on last night, but seemed like he was doing the absolute bare minimum during the run-in and I feel like he didn't even stick around for the denouement when it was Ortiz and Eddie in the ring shouting at JAS on the stage. AEW hasn't uploaded the bit yet so I could be wrong and he could've been there the whole time, but as someone else pointed out, it does seem like it's giving some teeth to both his recent cryptic tweets and the rumor that he had a falling out with Ortiz and presumably Eddie as well.
I know Santana had been dealing with some familial issues a number of months ago so if he needed time off for personal things again, that's his business and I can respect that, but it's just been weird vibes lately especially with how inseparable P&P were for the longest time.

Weren’t there rumors that he may be leaving to be a solo act when his contract is up?

There seems to be a lot of smoke to the rumor that Ortiz is content in AEW and he's not. Santana's Twitter is extremely cryptic, but at times it gets pretty on the nose. The "another day" tweets and the countdown to some unclear date he had going were one thing, but stuff like "sometimes no support is all the support you need" is hard to take any other way.
I'll be surprised if he re-signs when his deal is up.

He’s been hinting at a September 1st contract expiration, and leaving to work singles on the indies. If that’s what he wants, that’s what he’ll do. Sounds similar to the Stu Grayson situation, but Stu was not so vocal about it (aside from one promo).
The good news is that Ortiz has his connection with Eddie to keep him active on TV, even if he may be limited outside of his (stb?) former tag team.

Looks like he's been going in a singles direction this year, though where this leaves Ortiz in AEW is a mystery, since I feel his best chance at being a champion in the company would have been with Santana. Really feels like they're pairing Ortiz and Kingston lately. The fact that Eddie has an affectionate nickname for Ortiz goes a way to making them feel like they could be a team together without Santana.

I said it last night but Dynamite was the first time I really thought the Santana being unhappy and he and Ortiz having a falling out may be true.
Like OP said, I thought it was weird he didn't come out with Ortiz, and he just seemed to be doing bare minimum

Ortiz got the crowd behind him and I thought he had a better match vs Jericho than Santana did, and the post match there was a noticeable amount of energy in Ortiz cutting his hair while yelling Blood and Guts. Meanwhile Santana now looks like he is already mentally checked out.

Kinda sad they never got a run with the titles while they were still working as an amazing unit.

Ortiz has always been the energetic one of PNP, but it showed even more last night.

I am sure he might want to go on a singles run and is considering his options but let's not gloss over the fact that the dude just had an amazing match at the PPV and took an insane bump for it. It's not as if he's Gail Kim eliminating himself from a battle royal. And he'll probably be in Blood & Guts.

I think its easy to forget that many thought Ortiz was the star of the tag team back when AEW started. Now Santana got to show himself a bit more in singles but I remember even on this board people were calling for Ortiz to basically be what Dax is right now in FTR. And yeah it's clear to me (though could be reading too much into things) that Santana is checked out and from rumors its not a money thing he just wants to be a singles guy

I thought they were clearly building for PNP to win the titles ar Grand Slam but for whatever reason the plans changed.... just like I think originally Eddie was gonna win the TNT title from Miro there. I think since then? FTR got insanely hot as faces, and I do think in some ways Kenny being out longer than expected changed some plans with the Elite/UE and their involvement in the tag scene Also to add late. Them and Sammy getting pulled into thr ATT feud didn't help

Honestly if Santana is leaving in September they should have JAS injure him and go with Wheeler as the 5th entrant in Blood and Guts. Even if he's not leaving but wants to split up the team that brings up options for AEW

No offense to Santana, but let’s say WWE doesn’t sign him, then what? Your kinda burning your AEW bridge, which hurts you chances in a lot of places. Attempt to make it big in Impact? I wish him luck, but I personally don’t get it.

Welp, speaking of vague tweeting, sounds like somebody might've gotten confronted after the segment last night, or somebody's become aggravating to be around. Really makes me wonder if someone got in Santana's ear at some point, because I don't remember him ever coming off as having an ego or thinking he's too good for school before, when all this smoke's starting to form together to suggest something like that.
