I feel like Mark and Jay are definitely being treated unfairly with this. To me, it seems like genuine remorse has been shown. Jay has apologized numerous times and admitted it was stupid.
Meanwhile, guys like AJ Styles are on television.

I know there was that radio call in interview with Dave Meltzer years ago where he was surprised and humorously said "the gay community". Are you guys implying he is homophobic because of that or did he say something else I'm not aware of? 🤔

As far as I know, since joining WWE he hasn't really done or said anything.

just bumping this because it seems like WBD still won't budge on the Briscoes appearing on AEW Unless they're completely unrepentant about it (and it seems like they are repentant), that's a really bizarre hill for WBD to die on considering, well, look at some of the absolute garbage people TLC's given a spotlight to over the years.

To be fair what Jey said is on another level of what AJ said. What Jey said was extremely hurtful and dangerous. So I can understand an executive not wanting to put them on when anti LBGTQ rhetoric is kicking up

I'll never forget when Kid Rock made a joke about Democrats and AJ absolutely lost his shit hooting and hollering:

I honestly have never used the F slur but I'd be lying if I didn't say dumb stuff like "that's gay" when I was a pre-teen kid in the late 90s. I know people older than me(generation x) freely used that word a lot and I think most people are aware now that its a really shitty word to use unironically especially when it insults an entire group of people. AJ using that word doesn't necessarily mean he is or ever was homophobic. It was stupid of him to use it even if it was for "heel heat" but context of words still matter. A good example of context with this word is the South Park episode "The F Word". I think that episode and the social commentary it was saying is more relevant today than it even was back then when it aired in 2009.

I used the word pretty freely until around 2007, long before I relised I was pansexual, and stopped using it when I relised it was no longer socially appropriate. It was pretty common, and rarely used as an intended slight against gay people, amongst my age group

What is their issue with booking the Briscoes? Their past comments (Jay's past comments, because Mark as far as I have ever seen has never said anything) on the LGBTQ community Despite making strides to show improvement and change and admission to how wrong that mindset was, which has been backed up by people around them, I assume that a very specific tweet from Jay has followed them around and there was apparently "One Executive at WB" specifically that had been curbing The Briscoes from ever showing up on AEW. There were questions on if the merger would change things and if that specific executive was still there, but by the sounds of things, it looks like he either might be or the sentiment continues Idk if that'll ever change, but hey at least there are wrestlers who can own up and try and change their mentality, so I give props to the Briscoes for that, who knows if it'll overshadow their careers until they're done, but that's been the reasoning as of now. Didn’t Mark pantomime wiping his ass with a Pride flag at a house show?

I wasn't really sure all that was done at that incident, but either way they've owned up more maturely than most about it and said it was wrong to do.

As far as I know, since joining WWE he hasn't really done or said anything. I do recall an interview with AJ a number of years ago where he said something like it was a word he'd use a lot when he was young, the kind of thing that people would just call each other off-handedly during a game or something like that, but that after awhile he realized it was wrong to keep doing and made the effort not to just do what came so easily before; speaking as an ancient Millenial, I kind of know what he's referring to, it was definitely one of those words that'd just get tossed around casually as an insult in a lot of places, like how the R-word for special needs people is still used today. Whether that was genuine remorse or "hey, you're on a national stage now, don't @#$% it up", he certainly hasn't shown a proclivity toward using the word since the early 00s. I could also have some details wrong here, so I'm glad to be corrected since I'm just going by memory. Now, as to whether that has anything to do with what AJ's actual, personal feelings are concerning queer people? No clue, I've never met the guy.

AJ was using the slur publically at indies in 2015 during his Bullet Club days, and it goes just beyond the use of the word itself, his promo ending "why don't you go in the back, find your life partner and get out of here before you get hurt". I fully believe that the only reason he doesn't use the term now is that unlike NJPW, WWE actually have PR reps.

I've always found it kind of amusing that the vast majority of the WWE is very right wing, yet people act stunned when they find out about it.
