The cynic in me can't help but think that the execs care less about the homophobia than about the homophobia coinciding with the Briscoes just looking and presenting as aggressively lower-class and Southern in a way that's associated with bigotry - never mind how many bigots are "respectable" middle-class Northerners or rich people or what have you. Like if they just cleaned up nicely, that would matter. It depresses me that that's probably the difference between a Jay Briscoe and a Jake Hager to the people making these decisions, but I can't help but think it's a significant part of it. Even if the argument for Jay being the worse of the two is a strong one, I feel like the superficial classism is more likely to make the difference given who's making the decision. It still baffles me that they have the most Southern Boys gimmick ever and half their ring gear for years had confederate flags on it. They're from Deleware.

I get that it was mostly out of necessity since WBD won't let the Briscoes on the show, but I couldn't just help but ask, "what kayfabe reasoning is there for the Ass Boys to do the bidding of The Briscoes?" The Briscoes might've kicked their asses if they didn't and The Ass Boys wanna see FTR get massacred?

Funny enough I think it worked better for TK that he wasn't allpwed to.
Not only it was less people from roh eating up time but it made the Briscoe into roh ppv sellers

I live in New Jersey and if you ever go to the southern half of the state you'll see a ton of lifted pickup trucks flying Confederate flags. Despite it still being, y'know, New Jersey.

The Ass Boys making the challenge for Briscoes vs FTR instead of challenging FTR themselves made them look like they’re not good enough to challenge for tag titles.

Delaware never seceded from the Union and most of the black people who lived in the state were free. But it was still considered a Union slave state like Maryland, Kentucky, and Missouri. They also didn't ratify the 13-15th amendments until 1901, and had a lot of nasty Jim Crow-esque laws on the books during and after the Civil War. It wasn't until the late 19th-early 20th century where the northern Wilmington area gained lot more people and influence to make Delaware a lot more culturally aligned with the northern states. And the southern part of the state (where the Briscoes are from) still has a lot of people that identify with Southern culture.

A good bit of Pennsylvania is the same.

I’ve never seen a ton of those! How far south are you? I visit the Gloucester/Atlantic areas fairly regularly and usually see a good number of 'em.

If you're in the part of the state they call it pork roll, you're in South Jersey. Central is where it gets called both.

So if Tony gets anyone at WB to give ROH a TV show, will Mark and Jay still not be allowed to be on it?

I’ve never seen a ton of those! A few years ago I was driving home from the Freehold Mall. Dude with NJ plates was driving a yellow Honda SUV with confederate flag and NY Giants bumper stickers. I was very confused by the amount of culture clash there lol.
Granted, the reason that sticks out so much is because seeing that kind of thing is pretty rare around these parts.

If Jay actually apologized, why isn't it more public? That might help change the perception of the Briscoes. I believe it regardless.
