I remember the Christmas Eve episode of Raw when Alberto Del Rio ran over Santa Clause and the kids weren't going to get any presents but then SuperCena saved the day and all the kids got toys. Ah the good old days.

Ah the good old days. That RAW ruled tbh, and it was a rare moment where I loved Cena's over hammyness to the situation "FOR SANTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

That’s rough.
The last two weeks have been pretty great shows. I dunno if any blame could lie on the MJF angle.

Ah the good old days. What's wrong with doing goofy house show type stuff on Christmas Eve/Christmas shows? They're basically nothing shows, so just go out there and have some light hearted fun.

It also had a like inexplicably really good Sheamus / Big Show match for some reason.

What's been noticeable in the year-on-years is the dip in prime demographic ratings, but that's always going to boil down to how much cord cutting continues apace for anyone under 45.

No matter how you cut it, this rating isn't good. It could be a multitude of factors but we honestly don't give the E a BOD with the ratings, I really can't keep giving AEW the excuse game either. Even if I only watch AEW nowadays.

Yeah that’s not great. The demo number which they always hang their hat on is what’s really telling. I really just feel like the show doesn’t have the kind of electricity it had. There’s a lot of reasons for that but the stories right now for people up and down the card are just kinda whatever.
I know we all love good matches but I wish The Elite were in, like, an actual angle with things to do.

Even if I only watch AEW nowadays. Definitely. I only watch AEW anymore. However there is no doubt they have zero momentum and hype right now. I see two factors right now. First the new champion was absent the first show after winning the belt and then when he returned it was a talking segment against a non wrestler. While I enjoyed the segment and story I can see why casual fans wouldn’t be hyped by it. To me the World Title should always be the main focus and the struggle to win (or retain) should be captivating. It feels like an afterthought to me right now. The Elite are my current favorites right now. To finish a show with the 3rd match I’m a best of seven isn’t must watch television. While I’ve loved the matches there is no reason for casual fans to get hyped when they know the story won’t get resolved or expanded. With a series you are basically locked in until the conclusion. With the series it isn’t the culmination of a hate feud. It was literally just out there. DT have their drama but for The Elite they are just kind of in there. I feel the booking isn’t helping create a spark. They need to be able to showcase someone the fans are waiting to watch. WWE I’m the attitude era was masterful at this. They knew people wanted Stone Cold so they not only had him close most of the shows but sprinkled him throughout the show as well. It made Raw must watch through the two hours because you ne er knew when he was going to “show up”. It made for captivating tv. AEW needs to find that angle and hook people.

I've been kinda over AEW since the scrum. No not that one, the last one. When MJF came out and cut a promo on the assembled press it didn't make me mad, it didn't make me feel betrayed by him, it didn't make me want to see him get his ass kicked (we've seen that, that's another problem) No. None of those things. What it showed me was a guy who imo is desperate to stay heel so he can use that wall from the fans to separate MJF from Max, the kid with social anxiety, Max the kid who had learning challenges. It was the first time I thought "he's playing a character, this feels forced and fake"

I've been kinda over AEW since the scrum. That's kind of where I am. I'm paying attention, but I might watch a few minutes of Dynamite off the DVR when prior I was watching either live or later on in the evening the entire show. I'm not really watching WWE either outside of the PPVs on Peacock. I'm just not really interested at this point. I wouldn't say either of the companies are terrible... I'm just watching other things.

The hell are people doing on Wednesdays lately? I swear, if they're all going to that big party at Glen's place down on 7th, I'm gonna be so pissed that no one invited me. "Small get-together with a few friends I haven't seen for awhile", my ass.

Which also explain some of the drop, not by itself but special holiday programs or events happening this month all adding up to some ratings drops

It's up and it's down and it's all around It's gonna probably be this way for the Holiday Season, a lot of people are gonna be doing shit that just isn't glued to a TV. RAW lost like half a million viewers from hour one this week too, so it's not just inherently an AEW thing That being said, AEW is dead and in major trouble and going to die yesterday the end is nigh yadda yadda yadda. The end is here, you say?

BTW, has anyone done the math on how the Big Bang Theory lead-in bolsters the overall rating? I'd imagine it helps to an extent.
