Problem with not striking while the iron is hot is that wrestling is too unpredictable. What if Cody gets hurt? What if crowds turn on him? What if Omega or MJF fall into Vince’s lap giving him a new toy? What if Cena flops in Hollywood and wants to return full time? What if the economy crashes and filling stadiums becomes difficult and so on. You should “finish the story” when you can because you may only get one chance.

But really, Cody should have fun. Are you having fun, Cody? No? Too bad, get out there with your finely pressed suit and starchy blonde locks and make those people go WOOAAHH!!

Rock didn't just tear his hamstring in that match (and it was totally off the bone instead of the usual partial tear and 6 weeks off), he also suffered a hernia. I would be legit shocked if he ever wrestled again. And of course he's not going to come out and deny that there is going to be a final match against Roman. Dude was born into the business and he isn't going to kill the idea outright of a money making match.

I’ll just say the same thing that I said before the match. If someone could tell me legitimately what it is that Rhodes gains from delaying this big win for another four months to a year that offsets what he’s lost from not winning at the WrestleMania we just had (which thankfully seems to be relatively little, definitely not as much as it could’ve been. Still, early days, though), I’ll hear you out. Think it’s less what Rhodes gains as far as character goes and more what the company can get out of 1-extending Roman’s run in terms of selling more shows on the back of him defending the title; and 2-holding onto the moment of Rhodes beating Reigns for a future stadium show and the ticket sales that would generate.

They could still do much of the Bloodline stuff without Reigns holding both belts and there is the story of him attempting to regain the throne, and Rhodes/Reigns II would still do huge business if it was a Cody title defense.

They can do the Bloodline stuff without Reigns holding the title, but would it be as popular/over? And would the PPV matches with Roman be as important with him not on the historic reign? Maybe, but we don’t know that. And they could’ve done Rhodes-Reigns II as a Cody defense but again would that do as big of business as Cody trying to end the reign once and for all? No way to know for sure but I feel like if they do choose to do Reigns-Cody at Summerslam in Ford Field that’s a bigger match now than it would be if it was just Cody defending.

I don't know, I think there's a far more interesting story in Cody defending against Roman. Roman has been on top for an incredibly long time with basically no setbacks. The story of how he deals with losing his title is intriguing. There are so many directions they could go with that which would be fresh and truly entertaining. They could easily build animosity between the two. Hell Roman could even sabotage some of Cody's defences because he needs to be the one to beat Cody.
Cody vs Reigns at Summerslam will probably just be the same old lol roman wins via interference and ref bumps. There is far less drama for that. A summer of Roman coming to terms with losing his title and trying to get it back and what that means for his place as head of the table? That's a hell of a story waiting to be written.

That story begins whenever Roman loses the titles anyway. They’ve just delayed the beginning of that story and the end of his title reign. The question is whether they’ll wait too long and lose the momentum they’ve been gaining in terms of ticket sales, ratings, crowd reactions, etc. So far so good and it’s been better than I anticipated a Cody Mania loss would have left them, but I’m sure there will come a time where it’s too long to wait.

So Drew didn’t get to end it in front of 60,000+ UK fans at the first proper UK PPV in 30 years. Sami doesn’t get to end it in Montreal with everyone behind him. Cody doesn’t get to end it with an entire stadium behind him at the biggest show. I’m starting to think WWE just doesn’t know how to end this. WWE: I don't know how to come. Still true now as it was then.
