Can I just say here that the Undertaker fake-out in 2004 is one of my favorite Rumble moments? Just the way Kane completely stops what he's doing as soon as he hears the gong and freaks the hell out.

This Orioles schedule is a joke. They did the same thing last year with the Rays, MLB conspiring for certain teams to get off to good starts. I get the feeling that if the Yankees had the exact same schedule you wouldn’t be saying that.

I'm not sure what he would have actually done, so I'll just go with my go-to joke answer: He would have gone over the entire Alliance in about a month all by himself.

Shout out to that PPV that was main-evented by Seth vs. Dolph for the Intercontinental title for no apparent reason. Extreme Rules 2018 Notable Other Matches: Shinske Nakamura vs Jeff Hardy for the US Championship Kevin Owens vs Braun Strowman Bobby Lashley vs Roman Reigns AJ Styles vs Rusev for the WWE Championship Ending aside...Kurt Angle vs Mark Henry at Royal Rumble 06 qualifies IMO. Idt anyone had that in their Main Event bingo card at the beginning of 2006. Kurt had Main Evented a few PPVs at the end of 2005 challenging John Cena for the WWE Championship but suddenly hes fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship against Mark Henry who just returned a month prior after missing almost 2 years and only being midcard at best all career. Angle/Henry almost assuredly went on last at the 2006 Rumble because Undertaker made the ring collapse afterward. Can't really put on any other matches if the ring falls apart.

I mentioned it elsewhere, but Brutus Beef... Er, the Butcher, challenging Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade 1994.

Hilariously, the one time Jake Roberts actually got to hit the DDT in the Rumble, the camera didn't catch it. You can see him set it up and hear the THUD, but the move itself is so cut off that you never see him drop. What makes it funnier is he wasn't even supposed to hit it. Only reason he hit it was because he had to improvise as Vader missed his spot to clothesline him. He has Savio in the front facelock and is clearly waiting but Vader is busy fighting with Yoko so he just goes "well screw it" and does it. He then has to repeat the spot with Doug Gilbert and you can actually see him clearly telling Vader to hit him and then he does and Jake takes a comically exaggerated bump over the top. Huh. That certainly explains why Savio just kinda pops up like nothing happened afterwards, despite the DDT being essentially an insta-kill.

Batista in 2005 was That Dude. The injury bug hitting him sucked, but he felt second only to Cena as top guy in the company. I, for one, can never get enough of watching Batista take on HHH and JBL and decisively kick their asses.

Probably Rolento from Final Fight/Street Fighter, he'd likely take total control and actually make them a force to be reckoned with. Or not, since it's still just the Truth Commission.

I don't know for sure so I have to ask: Does WWE still talk about "This is Your Life" like it's the highest rated thing in RAW history?
If so, then that's also false, that distinction actually belongs to the Steve Austin Vs. Undertaker match for the WWF Championship on 6/22/1999.

I got two, and they happened early that same year. JBL vs. The Boogeyman at Royal Rumble 2006 Booker T and Sharmell vs. The Boogeyman at Wrestlemania 22. Not to mention that Bradshaw and Booker jobbed to Boogeyman. Which makes the fact that JBL and Booker T both separately challenged for the World Heavyweight Championship (Or should that just be World Championship?) not too long after even weirder.

That whole period was probably the absolute nadir of Vince’s obsession with being seen as an entertainment mogul instead of just a wrestling promoter.

One of my favorite announcer calls is in the 1990 Rumble. When the Red Rooster gets thrown out, Ventura says “And there goes the Rooster!”, and it sounds hilarious in his growly voice.

I do find it interesting that all the stuff you hear about Shanahan the last two days is the same sorta stuff that was said about Andy Reid before he finally won the Superbowl. It is funny how quickly Andy Reid went from having the reputation of never being able to win the Big One to being on the short list of coaches who have won 3 or more. That's the one thing I do like about the Chiefs being as dominant as they are. If there's any coach in the league who has earned the chance to coach a dynasty team it's Andy Reid, by far.
