…God, I don’t envy that editor if they go full erasure. I mean, there’s a fair chance that, on WWE TV, there was no person more consistently visible for as long than Vince McMahon. More than any one wrestler. He’d been an interviewer as far back as the 1970s, then a commentator through to late 1997 (through the entirety of their first boom), then a heavily featured character involved in tentpole angles throughout their second, even bigger, boom. And he remained an on-screen character up until, what, two f***in’ years ago? This isn’t a Mel Phillips situation where there’s enough Howard Finkel audio to dub over him or a Chris Benoit situation where his run was contained to his own angles and matches (in a smaller window of time). Vince is on just about EVERYTHING. They'll probably just bring back the Benoit/Snuka disclaimer the Network had. What I wonder about is documentaries though. At least with the in-ring product that was just kayfabe, but the clips of Vince on the documentaries are Vince's own actual thoughts. This reminds me: is the XFL documentary that ESPN did the worst aged sports doc of all time? Between Charlie Ebersol flaming out, the XFL itself having come back and failed not once but twice, AEW ensuring WWE is once again not a monopoly, and an absolute monster being put up on a pedestal by the piece. There's probably old WWE produced docs from the 00's that have aged better.

It really is pretty damn incredible that in spite of everything, maybe the safest person in the entire company has ended up being CM Punk as far as getting caught up in the McMahon shit storm.

Something that kind of keeps getting to me at this is that this Netflix deal sounds like it could majorly bite WWE on the ass down the line. Them potentially being unable to negotiate for a new deal for 20 years could be a major blow depending on how the TV industry shifts in years to come. That it's only around a 30% boost to their income when they were wanting 50% also seems potentially ominous. The key here will be the negotiations for the domestic WWE Network content next year. This may well be just a good faith contract and the real money will be there, in a deal that may not be nearly as long lasting.

Of the last five games, one of them will likely be 2k23 on Saturday to go along as their unofficial Rumble simulation. And another one will likely be SVR2009 because that’s the game nL started on. The rest could be just about anything.

Can all the wrestling companies get on streaming so that we can finally end any and all ratings discussions? Too late for that now that Netflix releases quarterly streaming numbers per their SAG contract.

But can they afford Okada?!?!?! They can afford about 300 Okada’s between all of their media rights deals

I will say it would be extremely odd to see Okada have two big victories (Danielson and Ospreay) and then leave the company at the end of the month for the closed off WWE. If he's going to AEW, at least NJPW would still have access to him at Forbidden Door and potentially in limited matches as his AEW contract allows.

CM Punk is going to put Okada over for the vacant world title in Okada's first night in the company in the main event of Night 1 of Wrestlemania and he'll do it with a smile CM Punk never does anything with a smile on his face anymore unless it's being a douche to someone, so I guess if in this context he's thinking about how it's screwing over AEW, it works! lmfao Not if he wants to keep in Mr. Levesque's good graces. I didn't say he'd look happy to do it

They probably grew the moustaches as a reference to Vince's horrible one

El Santo is a lot like The Rock, except the Rock doesn't have a statue in his hometown... and I don't think he'll be so synonymous with his country's culture that there will still be tributes/references to him in American focused movies 40 years after his death.

Unless Tony is going to side line Jericho, which seems unfair since that feels like you're punishing him for something, I don't know what they can do right now. Seems like Jericho and Omega were supposed to play a big part with Big Bill and Starks and now it's him and Sammy now. Easiest thing would be letting Jericho cut a promo after BOTB is over and bury Hausman and his followers unless there is some truth to what he said OR they dont want to make him relevant...
It would also be the wrong thing. Honestly I would have him gone for a few months, come back heel and see how it goes from there. His character needs a bit of a break anyway

Tony has also been clear, no Mondays or Thursdays against the NFL.

If there is a new fighter pack, I have no idea who in the world would be in it… except Crash seems almost a given, especially with Nintendo and Microsoft being much closer than Nintendo and Activision

With no Tyrus, I voted for Vince. Not because of the stache, but because a sexual predator was handsomely awarded with a massive merger that made him significantly richer than he ever was before, along with a brief period back in power of creative. Not to mention as well some of the bullshit that happened with the scandal first hit publicly in 2022 with Vince booking himself for rehab appearances on TV where people bowed to him.
I know people like the fun stuff but the Gooker has gone to serious topics before and this should be one of them. Punk stuff was much too backstage and we don’t know yet the full impact of him leaving yet.

There’s only two people who have wrestled for AEW in the last six months with a noted reputation of being a “lady stealer”. Neither are Chris Jericho, and Edge is happily married by all accounts.

But who could Cody wrestle on Night 1? Will they stretch out the Nakamura feud THAT long? Drew or Nakamura in a gimmick match. Or a heel Orton. The money would be in Cody vs Punk, if they blow the Seth feud off quick or they extend it past Mania. Roman vs Rock and night one has only one result. Punk and Cody could go either way

Maybe if they want Rock-Roman at Mania they’ll do Rock losing to Roman on Night 1 and Cody beating Roman on Night 2. Having the heel wrestle both nights wouldn't work, and it cheapens Cody's title win because then the entire story of the match is Roman being tired from the night before.
