I guess I am weird, because I see it the exact opposite. Necro=generic yard-tard garbage wrestler, Whitmer=entertaining wrestler. Jed Shaffer ~My favorite wrestler is also Steve Corino, so it shows you how weird I am. I'm with you. Seriously. What is the appeal of a yardtard wrestler?

Jed Shaffer ~My favorite wrestler is also Steve Corino, so it shows you how weird I am. I'm with you. Seriously. What is the appeal of a yardtard wrestler? Because he's not a yardtard. Necro is a fully trained wrestler who can bust out the basics at the drop of a hat. Here's what Necro brings to the table: In a day and age in wrestling where believability is hard to come by, Necro is just about the most "real" and believable character going today. Everything about him seems authentic, from his tats, to the fact that you could easily imagine him walking around town barefoot, swinging his fists on the off-chance that some guy decides to start a fight with him. Beyond that, Necro also "gets it". In the scripted sport that is wrestling, what is a characters' main motivation? To hurt people. Necro understands that. He gets it. And his character screams "authentic" all the more for it. He is a wrestler who gets off on the fact that he's causing pain, because, god damnit, that's what they're paying him for! I'm not a fan of "light tube" matches or insane deathmatches, mind you, but Necro, when outside of those elements, is nevertheless an awesome, awesome brawler, like Terry Funk was (not saying he's at Funk's level yet, but it's not inconceivable). His punches? They look like somebody who's actually in a barfight. His reactions? Like a guy who's clearly taken too many shots to the head, and it makes his selling feel real. The guy just knows what's up when he's in the ring. He's not the greatest technician, but he's smart enough and knows the business enough to know full well that garbage wrestling all the time gets you nowhere. Terry Funk didn't win world titles by just busting out chairs all the time, and Necro doesn't win his matches that way all the time, either. Also, I LOVE his character possibilities with Age of the Fall. Whereas during the CZW feud, he was the dangerous, yet still kind of funny hardcore icon, he's not got the booking angle to become perhaps one of the most dangerous characters in all of wrestling. I can't wait to see him as Jacobs' "attack dog".

necro knows ring psychology. he knows how to make people believe that he's a monster even though he looks like a hobo.
necro's also one of the better sellers in the industry too. take joe vs. necro 2. joe throws a chair at necro's hand on a poll and necro then in turn sells the injury for the remainder of the match. how many people do that anymore? hell how many people do that in ROH?
necro's smarter then he looks, he definitly knows how to wrestle and put on a great match.

I watched the Necro Butcher match posted above against Joe. I actually did like it, even though I do not like the broken glass and light tube stuff. I noticed that all the hardcore plunder in Necro vs Joe was kept to the traditional chair and railing plunder. It was pretty crazy to watch! I think the biggest thing that made an impression on me is the fact that Necro and Joe made it look REAL. It seemed like I wasn't watching a wrestling match, but rather two guys seriously beating each other up. The whole thing looked real even though I know it wasn't.
On a side note, I marked for Bryce Remsburg getting tossed out 5 seconds in. That, and Dave Prazak's shrieking random move names out.

Sure. I have seen some Indy wrestling and I don't like it. I was under the impression both positive and negative opinions were accepted here? Have you asked the members who dislike Cena why they post about him in a negative light...? Or about Lashley...? Because you are asking me the same thing. I understand you Indy fans are sensitive souls, and by God anyone say anything bad about the wrestling you like. But it's cool for you to rag on the WWE - the wrestling I like..that's ok. And I'm sorry if you think I was "boasting." I was simply backing up my opinion with reason. Much like when I said I don't get Butcher because he is a pile of monkey crap. There's a huge difference between disliking something and flat out bashing it. There's also a difference between flat out bashing stuff and actively pissing people off. And there it is. The true objection comes out. I pissed you off. I'm sorry, but I am not responsible for your feelings. You didn't piss me off, despite some of the things you said. I'm fine with it. It's your opinion. I'm cool. You should learn not to be so easily upset with how others express themselves. It's bad karma and a total waste of energy. Good luck. Necro Butcher still sucks.

Necro butcher (and to a lesser extent Jimmy Jacobs) is the only reason why I liked the Project 161 thing. He's just a crazy bastard that I wouldn't mind just seeing him interfere in matches and hit people. Necro's best work is when he was in Chikara destroying jobbers with Pondo and being CP Munk.

Why is this guy held in such high regard (As far as the indys go) I really have no clue. I've seen clips of him here and there but it was never anything special (Although I haven't seen a lot) Watch either of his matches vs. Samoa Joe, and there'll be no doubt in your mind. Or watch his involvement in the IWA-MS Strong Style tournament, and see how he is the best brawler in wrestling today (and probably one of the best of all time). Or watch him dressed up as CP Munk in CHIKARA, and laugh your butt off while being impressed with his ability to pull off incredible slams and power moves. I could go on and on...

It's not my true objection, and you weren't pissing me off. That was probably the wrong choice of word. This is a forum on the internet. It would be quite sad if I got pissed off from something someone said. Sorry to burst your bubble there, sport.

I'm with you. Seriously. What is the appeal of a yardtard wrestler? Because he's not a yardtard. Necro is a fully trained wrestler who can bust out the basics at the drop of a hat. Everything I've seen of him is sloppy brawling that you can see on YouTube done by 1000 yardtards. He may be trained, but the way he looks and "wrestles" is like some ultraviolent-crazy yardtard. That's what I see. I don't see a dangerous man. I see a drunken idiot. The Sandman, only uglier. Not saying you're wrong in liking him ... I just don't get the appeal, and I think he'll wear out his welcome in ROH quickly. Jed Shaffer ~Seriously ... the two ultraviolent bump machines of ROH besides him are both heels. Who's he gonna pair off with?

~Seriously ... the two ultraviolent bump machines of ROH besides him are both heels. Who's he gonna pair off with? Whom are you referring to? Whitmer and Jacobs? Plenty of other huge bumpers...hell, Necro's already in a feud with the Briscoes (and has already had hardcore matches with them in FIP). Mark Briscoe is as much an ultraviolent indy bump machine as anyone else in ROH - how soon everyone forgets the insane SSPs of Doom. After that there's Jack Evans, with whom the Age of the Fall is also feuding at the moment, who also takes ridiculous bumps all over the place. Plus, as a member of a trio, he's got plenty of potential in just livening up six-man tags. Any team could benefit from such a weird and fun character, especially in six-mans where traditional beatdown psychology usually takes a backseat to build and characterization.

Don't forget Matt Cross and Erick Stevens. Those two delivered and took INSANE bumps at Death Before Dishonor V Night 2.
And now that I'm thinking about it, Steen and Generico too (and Generico's sort of a tweener who will likely turn face soon).

Can't say I've seen anyone but Whitmer and Jacobs do powerbombs into the audience from the top rope, and metal spikes to the forehead. I haven't seen everything in ROH, so maybe I missed something, but I just don't see Necro as compatible with guys like Evans and the Briscoes. I don't want weird. I want ability. Plenty of people can brawl and make it look great (see Foley, Mick). I just don't see it in Necro. Sorry. Jed Shaffer ~I'd rather they bring in Justice Pain. I think he'd fit the role a LOT better.

see, jed. you're watching all the wrong stuff. necro is like a master of the strong style/shoot there is definately a place in a stable for someone whos simply a brute. like the hired gun. kinda like when daniels brought in samoa joe. thats all joe was... a hired gun. necro is way better then what you see in CZW. pretty much what they did in CZW was they took the elephant man, and set him in a circus. even though he was capable of so much more. now in ROH, hopefully they'll use him to his full potential

Necro Butcher still sucks. of course that is your opinion, and in your opinion abyss can only black hole slam little guys. necro is still cool. With all due respect, the BHS - if done properly - see Umaga, or Abyss vs. anyone at 175lb.s or less - is done in one sweeping motion. Not a catch, stop and drop as seen in your thing there. All that clip proves is that Abyss can only BHS teeny guys, like I said. But he is still better than Necro Butcher.

He stopped him in mid air on purpose to position Tomko over broken glass that was poured onto the mat, he is very capable of doing it to bigger guys.

Let's see some other clips of him doing that then. Because in this clip, he didn't need to stop and position anything...it's a bunch of broken glass. It's everywhere. Plus, he clearly uses his hip to hold him up. But maybe there are some other clips out there. I'm willing to give it a second chance. Let's see it.

Wouldn't it be harder to stop and hold him up than just to follow through with it? Yes, but don't let silly things like "physical facts" throw off your opinions. Jed, I respect what you're saying, but I just think you're giving Necro the short-shrift. I DO think the guy has "ability". The way he brawls looks like no yardtard I've ever seen (though I haven't admittedly seen many...I do my best to avoid them like the plague); there's an air of authenticity about his brawling that just draws me in.
