just to get the thread back on topic a little, I can see how guys like Angle and Booker could say TNA is a much better development. The reason I say that is those 2 specifically were near or at the top during a time where Vince was getting a lot of pressure to bring up ratings, and he still may be under a lot of pressure. That combined with the media backlash from the Benoit tragedy (and let's be honest, the general public hated Vince before hand, the steroids were just more fuel to the fire). Maybe the bigger guys were put under a lot of stress, plus you're always on the road. So it's not unlikely that the more experienced guys are not miserable. I do however, see how some younger guys could be miserable (though to be fair, the young guys are getting their fair share of time now).
A couple other things... As someone else pointed out, AJ was all but ready to go to the WWE, but they offered him a developmental deal, which in 2001 was not as lucrative as it is now. So you've got a young guy who has a wife in college in Georgia, and he's being asked to move to Louisville for $500 a week. He had 2 choices. 1)Risk his marriage for a less than secure financial situation, or 2)Tour Europe for a month with WWA, and work shows like Wildside and other territories (TNA and ROH were not around yet) for more money.
And as for guys going to WWE, some have other dreams than others. People mention Corino for wanting to get into WWE now, but can you blame him? What hasn't he done in his career? He said his dream is to end his career in Japan, but he's definatly got a lot left in the tank. Plus, who better to help develop young guys than the King of Old School?

Booker T dosn't do drugs. I have seen him at local charitys and he speaks out against drugs. I saw him with the Iron Sheik at a church youth group one time saying that drugs ruined alot of their friends lives but they stayed on top longer by keeping away. WWE had something against Booker T and that was the fact that he was friends with The Sandman. Sandman use to flirt with Stephanie Mcmahon backstage and it lead to him being fired and Booker T tried to stick up for him. I don't know what's funnier to imagine: Booker T and the Iron Sheik at a church youth group or the Sandman hitting on Stephanie McMahon.

www.gerweck.net/news/1197591374.shtml- The decision to use Eric Young in the main event at Turning Point due to Scott Hall no-showing the event was made by Jeff Jarrett as a last minute decision. - Speaking of Young getting the main event spot, apparently Samoa Joe suggested Homicide, but he was told that Homicide wasn't over enough or good enough for the spot. According to the story, Homicide heard about it and was really hot at management over it. - After TNA offered anyone unhappy their release, guys like Kurt Angle, Booker T, Earl Hebner, and Travis Tomko gave speeches about how most of the guys in WWE are miserable, and talked about the pressure and the politics of being in World Wrestling Entertainment. - Amazing Kong also gave a speech about being contacted by both WWE and TNA, and going with TNA since she believed WWE wasn't going to be the right fit for her. (source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter) just to refocus the thread...i was getting confused
