Maybe so, but to the eyes of the general audience, they'll still be perceived as WWE's rejects/leftovers, and TNA is still minor league anyway, so it's like being cut from the NHL and making it "big" in IHL...? IF that's true, the general audience is wrong. Christian is a main event talent, and anyone who can't recognize that is wrong, be they WWE creative or 'general audience.' No. That's YOUR opinion only. And since it's the general audience's judgement that makes or breakes a Superstar, the audience is "right". You may disagree with them, but in a "sport" where the support from the crowd dictates who's great and who's not, the people spoke about Christian and the result was "midcarder". That's another opinion, and a quite off one while we're at it. History, ratings and money show you're clearly wrong. WWE is the biggest company in pro wrestling, like it or not. TNA and ROH are minor leagues under every possible aspect, no matter what your personal opinion may be. Neither man was the "core" of WWF and WCW at the heights of MNW. Hogan v Rock was a dream match. Hogan v Austin would be a dream match. Angle v Sting is just a great match between two very popular Superstars. It lacks the "iconic" vibe other real dream matches could have TNA already had credible guys, wrestling-wise, years ago, before they tried to become WCW 2.0 Sadly the "future" will always be held back by the "past" in the vain hope of getting a 0.1 more.

Ok well looks like this has turned into a heated debate. BTW someone mentioned if I started this as a serious thread... of course I did? Why would I waste my time talking about something when I'm not interested or joking.
I'm a huge TNA mark. I haven't been for long since about early 2005. The product basically reminded me it's not that I've stopped liking wrestling since 2000....it's that I don't like what WWE offers today.
On first watching TNA (i know its not that lond ago) it seemed like a true alternative, wrestling I could get right into and totally mark out. I'm not saying TNA is 100% bad, it's still my favourite show on TV and I still religiously watch IMPACT and all PPV's....but I have found the product to get a bit stale and is poorly replicating WWE instead of being a true alternative.
I agree with a lot of the comments people have posted. I think we should all remember to respect each others opinions. I posted this thread as I RESPECT the opinions of people on this forum and I enjoy the insight of people I would consider my peers. If you don't agree with a guy, at least show him a little respect.
Anyway enough blabbering;
Keeping it as short as I can, I think TNA would rapidly improve if (sorry if I'm repeating other peoples comments):
1) Get rid of comedy gimmacks such as the guru and just let guys like Dutt sell themselves on being top atheletes. Stop characters like AJ being stupid comic relief and sell them on being instence competitors.
2) Honour all the titles and push X div. Instead of making it a joke why not have guys like Lethal and Dutt put on epic battles for the X div and build a level of intensity around title competition without having the title flip flop.
3) keep monster gimmacks like Abyss, rellik etc to a min.
4) Get rid of black reign
5) Let tag matches and X div matches main event if needed.
6) Build healthy competition in all 4 titles divisions
7) Improve TV product especially camera work

You're not qualified to debate me on anything. Funny thing about debates... Since everyone has an opinion, in an open forum like this, everyone's qualified. Some of us are just more entertaining.

If anything, the show seems OVERPRODUCED. It's not live, and it shows. It's still paced too fast with too many quick 'CUT TO THE BACK!!!!' moments and dueling storylines going on AT THE SAME TIME. Some of this stuff is just trying to push 3 hours of material into 2, it seems. Tenay/West are really insulting to the viewer too.

Step one you say we need to talk He walks you say sit down it's just a talk He smiles politely back at you You stare politely right on through Some sort of window to your right As he goes left and you stay right Between the lines of fear and blame You begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save TNA
Let him know that you know best Cause after all you do know best Try to slip past his defense Without granting innocence Lay down a list of what is wrong The things you've told him all along And pray to God he hears you And pray to God he hears you
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save TNA
As he begins to raise his voice You lower yours and grant him one last choice Drive until you lose the road Or break with the ones you've followed He will do one of two things He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same And you'll begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save TNA
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save TNA How to save TNA How to save TNA

you know one thing that pisses me off.
The fact they cut away from the wrestlers celebrating in the ring after a match after 2 secs. When tomko and Aj won the tag titles it should have been a gig thing with them celebrating in the ring for a while showing how much it means. Instead it cut to the back after 5 seconds

get rid of Russo. bring in a better booker. book TNA as a true alternative to WWE. return to a more basic, old school style, but with better wrestling - true faces and heels, better psychology, tell a story in and out of the ring that grabs people's interest, strong build up to feuds and ppvs blow offs, less stupid gimmick matches Also, try to get Shane Douglas back as a heel color man. good call on Shane

Team 3D are celebrating and I see Brother Ray go to get a mic or something and then he stops and he yells at some production guy "WHAT? NO TIME? " then proceeds to do the National Anthem himself without a mic with the whole crowd reciting it along while some backstage video was playing. Since I was there in attendance I have no idea if it actually aired on the PPV or not.

Ok I want to add my 2 cents in here. I will start and say I have tried very hard for 3 years to get intoTNA's product. I have never realy gotten that invested in it and here is why. The announcers do the oppisite of what they should be doing. They don't make me care about anything other than what is on the other channel.
The X div. was very very cool. It had the cruiserwieght feel without th stigma. When they pushed this is when I was most interested. Now that titile is about as useless as the Euopean Title. Put ths back in the 4 front. The other advantage to me with this is it makes the 6 sided ring have purpose. I like the 6 sided ring in Mexico. Hate it with heavyweights.
Push people that the crowd is behind. Most fans could care less about Roode. Give Joe the title and see if he can help you move forward. I have no problem with ex wwf wrestlers that are still current. However for me Sting is washed up and a shell of his former self, the same can be said for the Stieners, Dudley's, VKM, and many others.
Book the show at a slower pace. Then stop confussing me with every angle. I have seen agles and matches that just make my head spin becasue I don't understand the point. If you want a gimick match have a purpose.
Sorry for the lenght of this rant.

Id stop all the silly gimmick matches first of all. Some of them are just too damn complicated even for a hardcore wrestling fan to understand. Keep it simple guys. You can be simple and still be the alternative of wrestling.
Plus I would book guys people like to see and are over in more prominant roles. Ex: Guys like The Motor City Machine Guns, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, LAX, Christopher Daniels, Kazarian, Elix Skipper, Christian Cage, Rellik, Jay Lethal, and Abyss.
There are certain guys who have certainly contributed a great deal to the wrestling business. But there day has come and gone and they dont need to be booked in the spotlight anymore. Guys like VKM, Team 3D, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, Raven, and Dustin Rhodes, who all have done a great deal for the wrestling business in a positive way, but its just time for them to step aside and let some young blood do something.
Then I would stop paying so much damn attention to what WWE is doing. Seems like they are spending too much time worrying about WWE and not themselves.
Reform Americas Most Wanted....They were a badass team. They dress a like now, and nobody cares to see either of them as singles workers.
Figure out the faces and heels. Within the month of I think July every team in TNA switched from Face to Heel or vice versa seemingly without explaination. Team 3D- Face to Heel, Motor City Machine Guns- Heel to Face, VKM- Face to Heel, LAX- Heel to Face, The Steiners- Heel to Face. And now you got guys that appear to be neither. Like what is Christian Cage? What is Chris Harris? What is Kevin Nash? What is Tomko? If you book these guys like that then it will come across to your audience as totally confusing and clustered.
Stop overbooking the TV shows. What I mean is it seems like everything is way too rushed. They try to fit every character they have into TV each week, they dont need to do that. You dont have to showcase your entire roster each week and when you do, it gives guys less and less time and ends up looking sloppy and guys cant get over like that.
Get rid of the Six-Sided Ring. Yeah its innovative, its new, its fresh. But its no good, very few of the guys know how to work in it, some of the older guys CANT work in it. Notice next time you watch TNA how many screw ups they have with someone not being able to make it over the top rope or something. Guys cant balance on the top rope because of the turnbuckles being too obtusely angled. Hints the fact why Angle almost killed Sting with that 450.
Finally I would stop giving great workers goofy gimmicks. Let them be themselves. Sonjay Dutt as The Guru doesnt fly, Petey Williams= Maple Leaf Muscle...sigh. Black Reign....good gravy.

Where did they go wrong, they lost momentum, The second hour turned into such a mess, And you could make everything right Had TNA creative listened to you Raise your voice, push the newcomers The old guard should be used to make them stars Throw their scripts down the commode Or at least tell Dutch to hit the road They will do one of two things The will commit to everything Or they'll say your ideas are just insane And you'll begin to wonder why you came Where did they go wrong, they lost momentum, The second hour turned into such a mess, And you could make everything right Had TNA creative listened to you Where did they go wrong, they lost momentum, The second hour turned into such a mess, And you could make everything right Had TNA creative listened to you Had TNA listened to you Had TNA listened to you Where did they go wrong, they lost momentum, The second hour turned into such a mess, And you could make everything right Had TNA creative listened to you Where did they go wrong, they lost momentum, The second hour turned into such a mess, And you could make everything right Had TNA creative listened to you Had TNA listened to you
