Yeah, Simmons review was terrific and makes me want to see it even more. I'd trust his word on a film like this over any other reviewer/critic.

I wonder if its consecutive positive review steak will reach a Goldberg level? ..only to get a "shockingly" bad review from scotthall.com On a more serious note, I am usually the kind of guy who really needs to be swayed by a film to see it in theatres. Otherwise, I wait for it to come out on DVD or TV or I just don't watch it at all. This is one of those "swayed" movies. Plus, it's coming out in Phoenix just a few days before my birthday. So that will be my present to myself. ;D

"Ram Jam is a distorted white working-class stereotype, but Aronofsky can’t tell courage from vainglory, foolhardiness from sacrifice." What the reviewer doesn't get is that there isn't a clear-cut difference between the two here. What the character is doing ISN'T sacrifice and courageous in the typical sense and the reviewer only sees it as a failed attempt at such.

Si had a page in it of the sports media in review for the year and called it the best sports movie of the year. Also had some words from Mick Foley in it too.

The other critic with a rotten review (2.5/5) calls it a "fake" film obviously knocking the pro-wrestling business.

All I can say is how thrilled I am that Nicolas Cage passed on this movie. I can't imagine anyone would be clammering to see it with that guy in the role.
