Somehow, a part of me feels that they had Wolverine claw up Thing's face just so he could wear that dumbass helmet while holding a gun. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) The 90's, for me as a comic enthusiast and collector, mostly suck. There were some gems sprinkled in there such as the creation of Deadpool and Gambit, and the Chris Claremont/Jim Lee re-launch of the X-Men title. However, the bad far outweighed the good. Atrocities of the 90's include: - The Reign of the Supermen - Knightsquest - The Spider-Man clone saga - Guns - Pouches - More guns and pouches - Extreme EVERYTHING This it just seemed like every sngle comic book was a boring clone of each other. Big frowny faced guys on steroids with either monstrous guns or swords as if the illustrator is compensating for personal inadequacies and whiny angsty superheroes. You also had the let's kill characters or cripple them to get people to read our comics. Boooooooring!

It would have been amusing if there was a 90s superhero comic that had an anti-steroids story, considering pretty much every character looked like they were on roids. I remember an issue of The Incredible Hulk, where he fought the one villain he couldn't defeat- AIDS.

I'd say Battalion from the Team Titans summed up everything that sucked about the 90s comics - brooding, angry, headgear, pouches, catchphrases, shoehorned in where he didn't belong... ugh.
Also, Marc Silvestri is a hideous artist AND storyteller.

Did artists have some kind of phobia of drawing eyes in the '90s or what? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Speaking of 90s comics, what did everyone think of the Marvel 2099 line? I thought Spider-man and Doom were excellent, X-men was generic, never read ravage, thought ghost rider was ok but wasnt really impressed, and punisher was just awful.

Honestly Ghost Rider 2099 is/was one of my favourtie comics ever. I loved some of that crazy ink splash art that was being done. They also had some pretty cool tales.

How about the New Guardians, who could spread AIDS, or something like that. It even had a villain who was powered by (I'm not making this up) cocaine.

It was the one with Extrano and Tom Kalmaku right? I didn't read many comics in the early 90s, but JLA(Morrison up to the beginning of Joe Kelly), JSA, Black Panther, Major Bummer, GL: Mosaic, Guy Gardner, Sandman. Hate, the Milestone comics line, Spawn, Hitman, Savage Dragon, Young Justice, Aquaman (Peter David only), Sonic the Hedgehog, El Diablo, and a bunch of other books made up for lameness like Youngbloods.

Meh, the 90s comics were best summed up by the Simpsons Radioactive Man/Radiation Dude joke.
