Even Matt and Trey want Cena to be booked as a heel. Are you happy now, IWC? ARE YOU?

Meh.
I mean, it was funny, but more like "funny but who cares?" All those jokes they've made about wrestling have been done before. I get it! Wrestling's like a soap opera. Amateur wrestling is a lot different from pro wrestling and looks very gay. And, wrestling fans are stereotypically rednecks who think it's real. These jokes have been done before. There's a whole layer of wrestling that can be satirized and commented on. I mean, you have the steroids, painkillers, the early deaths, injuries, grueling schedule, popularity of a wrestling getting to his or her head, Vince McMahon, etc. It basically could have been a funny version of "The Wrestler." Instead, they decided to do something an 1980s sitcom would have done. Now, I did laugh as it was a well put together episode. And, there were some good jokes, like Kenny's death, the wrestling coach ironically ending up getting hired by Vince after trying to take it down, and everyone leaving when the boys finally start fighting. But, it could have been so much better.
Also, why do people still do the "fans who think it's real" jokes? It's pretty much common knowledge by now that everyone knows it's fake. The only fans who still think it's real are kids. Hell, there was an Academy Award nominated movie about wrestling that said it was fake! Enough with this shit!

So a joke about hick wrestling fans that think its real is funny but a video of a hick yelling ITS STILL REAL TO ME DAMMIT is hilarious enough to be referencing on message boards five years after the fact? I haven't seen the episode yet but I like reading people criticizing jokes they ran into the ground. Matt and Trey arent IWC vanguards.

The full episode is online now: www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/251887It was kinda funny I thought, but they dragged the joke on for too long. After about the 15 minute mark, I thought it got a little boring.

Also, why do people still do the "fans who think it's real" jokes? It's pretty much common knowledge by now that everyone knows it's fake. not everyone. the reason all the Wikipedia articles on pro wrestling now talk down to you like you're a retard is because the editors think they are the only fans who know it isn't real. thats not some made up joke about Wikipedia or the editors, that is the honest to god truth. if you go to pro wrestling project on Wikipedia and ask why they write the articles like people reading are idiots, they will tell you its because non-die hard wrestling fans (aka the general public) don't know its staged.

I was wondering the same thing because of this episode. I find it hard to believe anybody these days outside of kids think it's real, come on now.
I guess combining two of my favorite TV shows through out the last twelve years, my expectations were pretty high. I was kind of expecting Vince to come along all Russell Crowe-like, that would've totally made it.

I didn't anything about wanting "It's Still Real To Me, Dammit!" to be in the episode. (Honestly, I've never really found that video to be funny.) I just wish they didn't go for the typical wrestling jokes that were done on 80s and 90s sitcoms. And, Matt and Trey don't have to IWC guys to make the jokes about the certain problems that plague wrestling. Hell, they all they really needed to do was watch "The Wrestler" and springboard from there.

Loved how they all looked like wrestlers and the stuff with the wrestling coach was pretty funny.
I can't believe they didn't do anything with Vince. On Opie and Anthony, one of them does a great "Angry Vince" voice. Vince is a nut and he is absolutely ripe to be spoofed. But they did nothing and didn't even address the controversies in the sport.

Goddam, I love how it went from being kinda about wrestling to the whole thing being about dramatics. And everyone in the crowd getting turned off as soon as the boys start fighting with each other. Flippin' magic!
But boy, were the voices really off for Vince, Edge, and Cena. Hilariously off.

Man, looking at the first few pages of this thread, I think it's safe to say 100% of the board was WAY off on what this episode was going to be about.

Just watched it. Was ok. Not really what I expected. Normally South Park episodes are really clever, this was just a bit basic. Quite funny, but apart from 'dey tk hs jbbb" nothing really made me laugh out loud.

I enjoyed it. I think the best part was the security guards reaction to the wrestling coach taking him down.
