Shane is the Greg Gagne of the McMahon family. I like Shane but lets call a spade a spade. The guy lacks every quality a promoter needs to have to be a success in the wrestling biz. In a sense I'm glad he's not taking the reigns. I have much more faith in Hunter and Steph at keeping the family business alive. Shane was the guy who brought in Tyson and pushed for it. Dude's got all the qualities.

Who knows the truth, but if Shane really did push for the ECW return and had other good ideas that Vince immediately shut down after proven sucessful, I don't blame him for getting away from creative. If you kept getting your ideas shutdown, especially ones that could have been sucessful, while your little sister approves wrestlecrap like Hornswaggle pinning fullsize wrestlers and turning the flagship show into a badly written SNL with a couple of three minute matches I would probably just clock in, keep my mouth shut and collect checks myself. But the truth is none of us know the truth(except for those in the WWE corporation), I am just saying what I have gathered from the internet "facts" I have gathered over the years and from this thread.

I think this is all overblown hype. People are seeing what they want to see and they want a soapy opera of Shane McMahon and Stephanie being bitter sister/brother and an evil triple H masterminding throwing Shane out of the door due to a senile or insane Vince.
I bet if they read this they would laugh because whenever Shane wants a piece of the WWE, he would just be able to call up Vince and say it and he will get it and you damn well know that WWE will go to Steph and Shane equally and Triple H will continue to be depends on how he acts with Steph if you know what I mean
But hey, people believe the funner stuff, more power to them!

Yeah, odds are it's nothing big. Hasn't he been working for WWE his entire adult life? Very good chance he's just burned out.

Maybe he just wants to stand on his own 2 feet instead of working for Daddy's company?

Maybe he just wants to stand on his own 2 feet instead of working for Daddy's company? It's possible, but that is usually the mentality of younger men. He busted his ass for WWE for years, so I doubt now would be when he got issues with it.

You get the itch when you get the itch. It's usually just after you have sex with Lita, though.

Speaking from experience are we? Call Edge, he's probably got a bottle of special shampoo lying around somewhere. You could call Matt, but then you'd be the centerpiece of angst ridden blogs.

Source: F4W Newsletter(copied from another site though, so I can't guarantee its actually from there)
- As of this week, nobody who is talking within WWE has any idea what brought Shane McMahon’s resignation from WWE or what he plans on doing next. People who worked under Shane are said to be shocked and devastated, saying it came completely out of left field. The department that Shane was in charge of always has had great morale and word is that all the good morale plummeted on Friday when the announcement came out. A lot of people were very worried about their future with the company and there was talk that layoffs might be coming.
Shane was flooded with calls over the weekend and he pretty much told everyone the same thing he said in his official statement. It is very likely that the only people who know what is going on are Shane, Vince McMahon and perhaps Linda or Stephanie. Even people who spoke with Triple H had the impression that he didn’t know really what went down.
While Vince had good things to say about Shane’s departure in the release, word within WWE is that Vince went on a complete rampage when the news came out and everyone was doing anything they could to not be seen. The release was issued early Friday morning because they were concerned that the news would leak out and be on other wrestling websites before WWE broke it. Vince’s behavior suggests that Shane might not be leaving to work on his mother’s Senate campaign, which has been speculated. The reports of Vince flipping out may be a bit hyped up because we do know that Shane was in the office on Friday and Monday. Shane will continue working for WWE until January 1st of 2010.
It’s still unknown what Shane plans on doing with his future. There is a lot of speculation that he will jump into the world of promoting MMA and it’s no secret that he’s a huge fan and has had interest before in getting involved. One source close to Shane says he is very intrigued by the TV and film business and could end up there but as noted above, nobody right now knows what’s next for Shane. Shane is playing it smart by not talking about his plans. Most expect that he will be approached with lots of offers in the next few months.
There was a lot of people in WWE who were nervous when the story broke because they saw it as Vince’s son had decided it was time to get out of the family business, for whatever reason. Some are concerned that Shane feels the WWE ship has sailed and is getting out so he doesn’t go down with it.

Whatever Shane decides, I would totally mark out if he bought a smaller promotion or formed his own.

Whatever Shane decides, I would totally mark out if he bought a smaller promotion or formed his own. Agreed. Even on the very small rare occasion that he changes his mind and stays (and thinks of it all as a work), we should still wish him all the best. Now, where comes the money?

Shane is a smart cookie, so I'm sure he'll manage to make whatever he does turn a profit.

Does Shane really seem like a guy who would bail on his family when he thinks they're going to need him?

I for one would shit my pants if he walked out in Philly or New York at an ROH show.

I know Shane's wife is well off and I assume that Shane has his own small fortune...but I'm curious to know just how rich Shane is (which might have an effect on how far he goes and what he goes into post WWE).

It would be really cool if Shane was to start up his own wrestling company in the future. That would be something else.

Seeing as how TNA isn't a threat like WCW was back in the day what is Shane so worried about? I realize the company is a little drier than it used to be talent wise, but that doesn't mean fold. I wish he wouldn't of resigned because I always enjoyed his TV time.

I can relate to this....I work for a family business, and have for the past 11 1/2 years. We are basically just getting by, and I have given many ideas to bring in business, only to get shot down. If Shane is going thru this, I can understand why he's jumping ship, Lord knows I am early next year myself.
