We still have the record.
9-0 over Ipswich in 1995, Andy Cole got 5 that day too. I think we still have the away record as well, 8 - 1 against Nottingham Forrest with Solskjaer scoring 4 goals in 20 minutes.

9-1. Good grief. First time a team have scored 9 in the Premiership since 1995. I actually hate scores like this, it reminds me of the times we beat Spurs 7-1 in what I think may have been Keegan's last game in charge in his first spell and Sheff Wed 8-1 in Bobby Robson's first home game in charge. The Sheffield Wednesday one was 8-0! And that featured 5 goals from the man himself Alan Shearer.

9-1? That's a paddlin' if ever I saw one.
Anyway...
Newcastle Jets 0 - Wellington Phoenix 1 (Ifill 12')
Perth Glory 2 (Bulloch 57', Jelic 88') - Sydney FC 0

Big night of Champions League football.
Will it be the end for Bayern? Will it be the start of the end for the holders Barcelona?
Is this another nail in the coffin of Liverpool? (I do hope so)

And that's that, we're out of Europe. We got the win tonight but Lyon couldn't do us a favour. That's what you get when you leave your fate in the hands of another team. Liverpool weren't good enough over the 6 games and are now in the UEFA Cup (or whatever it's called now). And personally, I hate the "You're not good enough to qualify in the Champions League but hey, come and play in this cup" rule. If you're knocked out of one you should be out of Europe.

I remember us getting to the final of UEFA Cup in 2000 after going out the Champions League, we had some great games along the way with Nantes, Deportivo and Bremen I remember, especially Parlour's hat trick at Bremen.
Who knows it might be the only trophy Liverpool will win this season so I wouldn't write it off completely. Heck Id kill for us to win the Europa League, or anything for that matter.

I'd forgotten how good Ray Parlour was at finishing...then again it's only Ray Parlour

Besiktas get a shock 1-0 win at Manchester United - Wolfsburg could pip United to top spot if they win at home in two weeks.

Avram Grant has been appointed Portsmouth's new manager. I honestly think its a great appointment and that Grant was underrated whilst in charge of Chelsea.
Like his first game as Chelsea manager he will face Man Utd, although this time its at home. And who knows with United losing last night could Pompy spring a surprise? Here's hoping.

Grant only did well at Chelsea because it was still Mourinho's team. Here, he's been handed a bunch of duds. Portsmouth is where he will really prove if he's a good manager.

Lol I see pages like this every year, usually from cheeky Arsenal fans being aimed at Tottenham. Albeit...the League Cup is not more important than the freakin' FA CUP! Stevie G as DJ is brilliant!

One of the best days of the season this weekend, the 3rd round draw of the FA cup.
It's a bit like Christmas, you get caught up in the magic and look forward to what you're going to get but usually just end up with an uninspiring tie (boom boom).

Chile could be kicked out of the World Cup because one of their league clubs Rangers is appealing to the government against their relegation, and FIFA do not look favourably on government intervention in football.
