England lack both the defensive (Johnson and Cole have no cover unless Milner is on their side) and offensive qualities from their wingers. They can't keep possesion for long periods in matches to force their game on oppendents and they also lack the strenghth in depth to win a world cup. Their very, very best hope is to finish third, but even that would require a huge amount luck in terms of how they are drawn (see Turkey and South Korea in 2002).
I think Argentina will be there or there abouts, no matter who the manager is. They have far, far too much quality and they should be a joy to watch. Diego Milito, Kun Aguero, Oscar Cardozo, Hernan Crespo, Pablo Piatti, Diego Buenanotte, Lucho Gonzalez, Esteban Cambiasso, Lucho Gonzalez, Ezequeil Lavezzi, Juan Roman Riquelme, Fernando Cavenaghi and Lisandro Lopez are just some of the options they have that were'nt even on the bench. They tend to play well despite who's in charge.
Liverpool are without Torres and Gerrard for the match with Sunderland. Sunderland have done good buisiness in my opinion in the close season and it's a tough place to go, so I'am prediciting a very close match up tomorrow.

Spain and Brazil are better than every other team but aside from them two England are as good as everyone else and it wouldn't be impossible for us to beat Spain and Brazil. Argentina are a shambles as are France and Portugal. Holland will implode through in fighting like they always do. Anyone else?

Argentina are a shambles yes but so were Brazil in 2001 but they went on to win the World Cup. So I'm not counting out Argentina. Italy are the World Champs but I really can't see them doing it again. They went unbeaten in qualifying but surely aren't as good as Spain or Brazil. And thats pretty much it. Russia could be an outside bet if they qualify, but Id be surprised if anybody other than the teams you and I mentioned will win the World Cup.

I don't really understand all this hype about England (well, I do, we're all well used to the "we're going to win the World cup" comments every 4 years).
They got past the poorest Croatia side in history, a very average Ukraine, and three other teams that were never going to cause them any difficulty.
Whereas in the Euros they had Croatia who were actually good at the time, Russia who went on to the semi finals, Israel and Macedonia who are never going to be easy, plus teams they were always going to beat.
It was a FAR easier group than the previous campaign. McClaren would have qualified from this group.
England haven't proven anything yet. Against top teams in friendlies, they have been beaten. Of course, there is a lot of time to try to improve the team, and there's no question England will do well enough, but win it? Sorry, can't see England getting beyond the likes of Spain, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Netherlands, or Germany.
But then again, nobody expected Greece to win the Euros (although I did predict it!!!!).

No, we've seen it before. England can't hold possession for long enough in matches against even the most mediocre of sides. It's plain to see beacuse international football is played at a much slower pace compared to Premier league football and if you can't keep the ball for long enough against a decent team, you'll be toast.
Honestly, I think it's hugely ignorant to suggest that that the only teams England should be worried about are Spain/Brazil. I only say that because I hear it all the time from some England fans and those lazy football writers. It's become a tired ritual and it happens before every tournament England qualify for.
The World cup is a long way away and things can change quickly in international football and there are already plenty of teams who'll cause England problems. In Europe you've got Germany, Holland, Italy, Serbia, France and Russia (that's assuming the latter two will go through, I think they will) who are all either technically superior, tactically superior or both. In South America there's Argentina, Chile, Paraquay and an expectant Uruguay who can all pass at a hyper pace high up the pitch. There's also Ghana and the Ivory Coast of Africa, both of whom have improved from the last World Cup in my opinion and they be will be giving a lot of teams hell next summer with their pace and power. Some of these teams I mentioned ofcourse may not play to their full potential, but enough will to stop England from bringing the cup back.

The poorest Croatia side in history? People were salivating over them a less than a year prior. The main reason why we won't win the World Cup? It isn't the team, it's the harsh amount of pessimism that everyone gives England. We could make the World Cup Final and lose on penalties, and people would be calling for Capello's head. It's the way it's always been, and always will be, national pride being shoved to the side in order to nag at any old random thing. Take our 3-0 win (which I won £70 from ) "We won 3-0, that was nice, but GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NO WAY WAS BECKHAM MAN OF THE MATCH, HE PLAYED CRAP, DIDN'T DESERVE IT, GAHHHHHHH BOOOO HOOO!" Not that I respect some of your points though, I just think some people go a bit OTT with how god awful crap England are and how immortal the all-powerful Spain and Netherlands are.

It's finished Villa 2- 1 Chelsea, pretty good game.
Terry threw a little tantrum when they conceeded the second goal, jumping up and down and everything.

Yes, the balloon has the Liverpool crest on it. It also might be the balloon that sealed Rafa's fate. But despite that, it's not even the biggest balloon story in the last three days,

I'll be watching MOTD for sure to see that
Also wanted to say wooooo Gers back at the top of the league, luckily it seems if the Beeb to be belived (Didn't see the game so I'll take their word for it) but still......Wooooooooooo!
Also if the OF ever somehow manage to get permission to play in the English leagues, they need to ask to start at the bottom because they are both so chronic right now that it would be like having 2 versions of Derby County if they went into the Premiership

Unfortunate for liverpool and annoying for us- if Sunderland had lost we'd have been able to move up a place tomorrow. Ditto with Villa.
And while I think saying England only have 2 teams to worry about is wrong, I also think its ridiculous to write England off immediately as having no hope and had a cushy ride. Semi finals perhaps, win, doubtful. But to write England off as crap immediately is absurd, and also shows a distinct lack of faith or hope in the national side.

You know your team is having no luck when your striker gets injured yet again playing for his country, your captain gets injured too and then you lose to a freak goal off a deflection off a beach ball. A Liverpool beach ball too! And the biggest insult of all, Lucas Leiva started yet another game.
Although from what I hear, we were well beaten anyway.
Easy game for us next week though, some team called Manchester United. If we can win that game then I'd still say we have a chance of the league. If not then it will probably be at least another season until we get number 19.
