European World Cup playoffs... Republic of Ireland vs. France Flipping typical. At least you don't have to go to Russia or Greece. France is the best chance Ireland has to go through.

... bah, speechless. After all those saves, Forster ends up giving away the point.

Hooray for Leeds There's no way that we'll be able to beat them come Saturday, because not only are they top of the league, but they're going to want to KILL us after what we did to them last season, hell, I can still taste their sweet, sweet tears even now!

Must say it sure was fun reading The Sun this morning and their reaction to beach ball gate (yes I'm calling it that). The beach ball has more goals this season than Heskey! And even got in The Sun's team of the week. Already stories about Utd fans getting ready to sneak beach balls into Anfield next week and making a song to the tune of 99 red balloons. To be fair Liverpool have accepted it gracefully, I'm not sure Sir Alex would of or even Wenger to be honest. I'm actually very impressed at how the club and especially Rafa has dealt with it (when you consider how he's moaned at some things in the past). They seem to accept it's one of those things and even Rafa said that Sunderland were the better team regardless. They could have gone on about how the goal should have technically been disallowed. I'm not saying it should have, but the rules state that it should.

I'm was pleasantly surprised Benitez didn't blame the beach ball too, it's always nice to see a manager just admitting they weren't good enough rather than blaming something.
To be fair to the ref how many times do two balls or balloons go on the pitch and the game stop? If they did that every time some games wouldn't get going. It's like the rule stating the keeper can only hold the ball for 6 seconds, it's rarely enforced.
That said it's amazing how some refs and commentators don't know the rules, we had a player booked a couple of seasons ago for taking a throw in against the back of one of our players which Hackett actually apologised for.

Well thank you BBC. Now you;'ve got one of our players investigated by the FA for doing absolutely nothing.
Free kick that led to Rovers' first goal. Chimbonda grabs Elliott and drags him off the ball to the floor. The momentum of falling over and trying to get back up causes Elliott's foot to catch Chimbonda in the face. Complete accident, did catch him yes but total accident- referee gives the decision to Blackburn. Then the BBC harp on on MOTD2 about "nasty, nasty by Elliott", si the FA are investigating if he stamped on him. And knowing our luck he'll probably get 3-5 match ban, if not more. When it's clearly a complete accident.
You get pulled off your feet to the floor, your legs are going to flail a bit. As you're trying to stay on your feet, chances are your feet might swing up as you're pulled off balance, then back down as you either hit the floor or try to get up. I've been thrown on my arse enough in my martial arts classes to know this. Yet Elliott's being investigated for it, when it's clearly an accident.
The BBC were itching for a ruckus. When Jensen fouled thingy near the end they were practically begging he got sent off. And thanks to their twisting the situation on the recap Elliott's getting investigated. But MOTD is brilliant at portraying a different game to what actually happened, I've spoken to Sunderland and Everton fans who agree on that.
Oh and mprox, for what it's worht a Blackburn season ticket holder I spoke to thought art the time that Rovers' 2nd goal was going to be disallowed, and that Di Santo clearly shoved Jordan into Jensen. He's seen it again and still thinks that.

Not a good night for the British teams in the Champions League. Arsenal conceded an equaliser in injury time, Liverpool lose at home to Lyon in injury time, and Rangers thumped at home again. At least we got a point, but it should have been 3.

And in another absolutely shocking result, Barcelona lost at home to Rubin Kazan.

I am absolutely disgusted right now. I'm embarrassed to call myself a Rangers fan after a performance like that. Walter needs to resign right now and save us any further damage.

Well after a great weekend that saw Liverpool and Chelsea lose whilst City dropped points at Wigan this was another good night.
Arsenal draw against very weak opposition and Liverpool look to be a shambles at the moment.
Oh how I hope we hammer the final nail in their coffin come sunday.

It was a blatant and obvious stamp by Elliot. I've seen it a few times and there's no doubt about it. If he's getting investigated, he'll get a ban and he'll desrve it. The blame goes on the player, not Match of the Day.

well... tomorrow is the day of the season I've both looked forward to and dreaded as a Rossoneri supporter, Milan v. Madrid. Hopefully we could get something out of it, maybe with the upsets going on around perhaps a win?

Not to upset about last nights result to be honest we should still go through. Obviously if Liverpool, Rangers and Barcelona hadn't all lost Id have been devastated with our result.
But its the same old thing with us, falling to kill off the game, getting too comfortable, and getting punished for it. Even against, to be honest, a poor AZ team.
Middlesbrough have sacked Gareth Southgate despite Boro winning 2 nil at home to Derby last night and being 1 point off top spot. Sky Sports News say the real reason for the sacking is dwindling attendances.
Also Leicester City are trying to sign former Ajax, Barcelona, Juventus and Milan player Edgar Davids, who is a free agent.

The attendences are the lowest they've been in 4 years.

The Chairman there is not exactly trigger happy in terms of changing managers around.

The blame goes on the player, not Match of the Day. Its not the fan in me talking, I genuinely believe he's innocent and I'd be saying this about Chimbonda if it had been Elliott pullinng Chimbonda down and Chimbonda's legs flailing. Elliott can be a bit of a sloppy tackler but he's never been the type to lash out. I've not seen the incident since the at-the-time replay so I'll need to watch it again to be sure but based on what I saw then, in slow motion, it looked a pure accident. In any case the FA have said there's no incident to investigate as the ref isn't sure but doesn't think it's deliberate. Anywho, soom good news- reserves beat Man City reserves 2-0, 19 year old striker Wes Fletcher got both and almost got a 3rd, and it appears me have a more than capabale backup for Jensen. Diego Penny saved 2 penalties, made a number of other great saves including a double save and apparent stunning save, and even almost scored with a goal kick that lobbed the keeper but just went wide of the post. I'd consider playing Jensen at home and Penny away based on this and our away record- Jensen's been unbreachable at home but made a couple of crucial slipups away.
