100% believe that because HHH likes him, he's getting a title shot early in his career.
But I like it.

Why would HHH pull for him?
Either way, I kinda like it. Would've liked Kofi, maybe though, cause to me it seems like he's been getting bigger and more better pops lately.

HHH said some nice things about him a week or two back saying how he shows up at shows where he isn't even scheduled to be there. HHH sees himself in Sheamus.

Sheamus has pretty much had the full backing of the office since his FCW days, so his push does make a lot of sense. From him being the guy that Swagger jobbed to on his way out of developmental, to the people they selected for him to work with on house shows (Finlay and Ricky Steamboat, I believe) and his unique look, plus the fact that he can actually work and looks intimidating.... Yeah, the WWE pushing him is a good thing, as long as they don't hotshot the hell out of him and then drop him back down the card (Koslov, anyone?)

Haha, yes. 100%. If Triple H didn't pull for this, I'll eat a cheeseburger. Which may not sound like much of a challenge but I really don't want to eat my hat.
I'm still marking for this though.

I really really don't get Sheamus as #1 contender. All they can do is build him up for a month and then job him to Cena. Then what? (Besides Future Endeavors?)

The way I see it, I'm always for new blood in the world title picture. Plus, I think Cena will go over Sheamus. The buildup they're giving Kofi indicates to me they'll put the title on him in a year or so, the buildup for Sheamus is probably more predicated on a need for new opponents for Cena.
Penis.

Without a doubt. Not that it's a bad thing.
Actually, it could be a bad thing. I don't think it's a good idea to have Cena kill his momentum already, and I seriously doubt they're putting the belt on him.

Oh totally.
He was on ECW for a month, then he's on Raw for a month. He beat up some jobbers, retired a jobber, and beat up King. Now he's #1 contender. I like it, its really old school, but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that Triple H was behind this.

I like Shaemus, but whether or not it was Triple H's influence, pushing a new face all the way to an immediate title shot really puts the fresh talent in jeopardy. Chances are he is not going to win against Cena, which will hurt his credability. The fans won't buy into the fact that he's a strong force and it's going to kill his driving force I believe. They should have done with him what they are doing with Kofi Kingston and R-Truth. Kofi is involved with Randy Orton, and Truth with CM Punk. Strong personas that have already built up their status, though at the time not champions nor in the main event. That's my opinion if it makes any sense.

I would suggest it's because Vince McMahon thinks he's Irish.

Did Triple H have an influence on Sheamus becoming the #1 contender for the title? Probably. Do I think this is a bad thing, what with WWE's need to create new, fresh stars? Not at all. Is it really necessary for me to ask questions only to answer them myself? Of course.

It's a tables match. He's not gonna look weak losing it unless they book it really stupidly.

Sheamus got himself the spot; anytime he wanted to advance up the card, he went to Vince, who said, "What the hell are you doing in my office!?!"
To which, Sheamus said, "Listen here, fella!" To which Vince said, compelled by the magical word "fella": "Go on..."
He's getting the belt in like 2 months now.
