Hell Undertaker for one. Also I'm not talking about the guys like Renee Dupree and Chris Masters. Bastisa, Goldberg, Mark Henry was over and impressive. Writers want to please the smart marks and it hurt the business. Rey draws in the Latinos thats the only reason Vince cares about him. If he could do that a 6'7 hispainic wrestler then Rey would be a jobber. LOL!!!!
hmm, it's not that vince "loves big guys", otherwise instead of Mysterio, Hardy, Christian, Edge, or Punk we'd be seeing Snitsky, Heidenreich, Dupree, Cade, and Kozlov as champions.
Big guys stand out, Abyss, Joe, and Rhino haven't been pushed as monsters since Matt Morgan has come along.
It's like there's a bias against big men in pro wrestling when Wrestling for the most part has been built on the massive backs of them.
From muscle heads like Basketball Jones, Cena, Sting, Hogan, and Savage.
to Big fatsos like Show, Vader, Yoko, or Joe.
There's no problems with stacking a roster with big talented guys and still keeping the smaller, faster guys.
I did mention Taker as the exception. Even so he rose to his heights back when big men were in. At this point in his career he is a nostalgia act. But if you classify Cena, Sting, Batista, Goldberg, Masters, etc. as super-heavyweights then I believe you and the Hulkster have different definitions.
Savage rose to prominence delivering the awesomest flying elbow anyone had seen, and Sting was definately not a power wrestler or even a brawler. They wrestled the style that was that the average and smaller guys can wrestle and still look legitimate doing.
Vince isn't pushing the small guys to please the smarks. Vince has a long known history of disdain for smarks. Vince is pushing whoever is selling. Yes he overpushes Cena, but Cena was selling when he got the push that still hasn't ended. If you think the only difference between Snitsky, Heidenreich, Dupree, Cade, and Kozlov versus Mysterio, Hardy, Christian, Edge, or Punk is there push then I don't know how to explain pro-wrestling to you.
Besides which Vince may be the biggest game in town but he isn't the only game in town. Look across the entire wrestling landscape. The big guys are the rare exception. TNA has had super-heavyweights like Rikishi and it didn't do crap. RoH had Morishima as champion and Bryan Danielson or even the rare Mike Quackenbush appearance announced for a card had more impact on ticket sales. Heck any indie scene the sellers are the Davey Richard, the Youngbucks, Quack, Jimmy Jacobs, Necro, Kenny Omega Its not because there are not fat guys who want to wrestle, its that people don't want to see fat guys wrestle in general. People will pay to see Spanky, London, and RVD. Rikishi, Kamala, etc. just don't draw in the crowds you and Hulk imagine they do. You can rail against the smarks or the newzsites or even Jeff Jarret's lawn gnome in a Suicide mask, it doesn't change the reality that times have changed. Scoop slamming huge guys has lost all of its impressiveness.
