I don't get what they were thinking with the Terror Dome match. They have done those on PPV so many times and so well to do that one like that... I think it was probably to get Homicide over as a heel, by having him end the match in a dirty way, but it didn't come across as they were probably hoping. It's a good thing Hardy showed up afterwards though.

I felt like i was in the wayback machine the entire night, and that bugged me. Call me Indifferent.
But since Y'all liked it, i guess they did their job.

It was an atrocious show. Putting the fact your response was a vapid 1 dimensional response with no substance aside, isn't this the very thing warned about in the CAPSLOCKED sticky thread? maybe it's just me but these responses are nothing more then flame bait potshots. /Soapbox TNA was fantastic, i watched raw on my DVR and aside from bret seemed to be an average raw, wasn't bad, wasn't great, just OK.

How many times did Hogan say "brother" in that one promo with Jarrett. I understand it is his tic, but he does it more when he is nervous or uncomfortable and he said it at the end of every sentence with Double-J. Did anyone else notice that it almost mirrored HBK's parody of Hogan with "brother" uttered every fourth word.
That whole promo was discombobulating for me and from the sound of it, the crowd. They were chanting "BS" so much that it blotted out every other word Hogan was saying at one point so it sounded on TV like "Double BS!, better, BS! ready BS! young BS!, brother! Dixie BS! I, BS! majority owner BS!, brother!"
The first hour was a complete cluster with Homicide apparently hung from the top of some weird contraption that couldn't be filmed accurately from the outside complete with narrative-less action and a Dusty finish.
The Nasty Boys were there...and had at least three segments devoted to them.
Val Venis and TBP ripped off a WWE awful premise.
Ric Flair had a cup of coffee.
Scott Hall looked like he was auditioning for the role of Fat Bastard's long lost brother in Austin Powers 4.
Sean Waltman was stil acting like it is 1998.
They are teasing an NWO reunion.
And this was a success?

How often can they afford to go live? Does Spike have many viewers? At the same time the Hitman was getting his first wave of adulation, Hulk was arguing with an immoble Kevin Nash, a puffy Scott Hall and a disinterested other guy. Old rejects reworking a non-battling feud vs. the return of a legend.

It was just like watching Nitro in 1997. Some good stuff. Some bad stuff. But plenty of stuff.

I voted Yes but wait and see. It got people talking but so did the Bischoff/Russo relaunch of WCW in 2000 and we know where that went.
In fairness I watched the first hour then flipped to Raw, flipping back to Impact from time to time. I'll have a better picture after I watch the replay on Thursday.
But from what did see:
Pros:
The return of Jeff Hardy. In spite of his problems, he rivaled Cena's popularity in the WWE. Plus unlike some of the others people we seen tonight, he isn't 15-20 years past his prime.
The Pope push. I'm still don't see what some others see in him, but it looks like he's gonna get a chance to show people like me what he's got.
The NWO storyline. Is Hogan going to run with his old buddies our keep his promise to showcase the best in TNA? As long as Hall, Nash, and Waltman don't overstay their welcome this could get interesting.
Angle/Styles. Although I don't like giving away PPV Main Events for free, this was the one night where it was okay. Having the two best wrestlers in your company put on a match like that is always a good thing.
Flair and Styles. I'm interested to see where this goes as long as it doesn't lead to Flair returning to the ring.
Cons.
The opening match. Start with a big red cage that is very hard to see into. Then add 8 wrestlers to make the action even harder to follow. Finally have a DQ 5 min in to really piss off the fans. Even Hardy couldn't cover all those mistakes.
Short undercard matches and lots of backstage skits. Isn't this what Raw get criticized for?
Not delivering on the promised Tag Team Title and Barbwire matches.
Many of TNA young stars not making the show so we can focus on Val Venis, Orlando Jordan and The Nasty Boys.
The upcoming Team 3D/Nastys feud. A team 10 years past their prime vs a team 20 years past their prime.
And who is Bubba the Love Sponge?

Yes from me.
I'm looking forward to next week.
If they would just keep the show live...I'd be much more inclined to watch it.

Watched most of the first hour. That cage match was terrible. Caught Hogan's interview and went to see Raw. Everytime I flipped the channel during Raw's commercial, my TV went back in time. flip.....Hogan flip.......Nasties Flip......Hardy flip.......Hall, Waltman, Nash....... I didn't pay enough attention to say any thing other than indifferent, but what I saw didn't make me a TNA fan. Too bad. If you are a hardcore WWE fan and loyal to the brand, then tonight wasn't going to change your views. But if you are a casual WWE fan who hasgrown tired with the product then there might have been something you liked. That's who TNA is trying to capture. People sick of WWE. You at least caught parts of the Angle vs Styles classic, right? Yup, flipped back and forth, unfortunately everytime I went to Angle/Styles they were doing the same damn spot. I'm hardcore WWE and sick of them, was hoping for something to catch my attention, but really, nothing was gonna draw me away from Bret on Raw. If TNA stays on Monday nights for a while, maybe I'll tune in more often. Won't ever be able to catch them Thursday nights because of work.

First off...this is the first Impact that I have seen in its entirety without fast-forwarding thru some matches. Definitely an entertaining show...but I could have done without The Nasty Boys, and Scott Hall.
Orlando Jordan? Really??

I am a big TNA fan, but honestly I thought that on the whole tonight's show was pretty underwhelming. I think that although tonight's show was good, the Impacts put on this past November and December were way better.
My main gripe was that it just seemed like they tried to cram WAY too much into it. There were way too many storyline "plot points" going on, to the point where I felt like I needed to start taking notes. A mystery attacker laying people out in the back... Foley looking for Hogan... Jarrett cutting a face promo and getting bitched out by face Hogan... black limos... white limos... Sting in the rafters.... Orlando Freakin Jordan.... etc etc etc. If Hogan really wants to go back to basics like he claimed a few weeks ago, they really need to seriously rethink this whole thing.
Another gripe I had was that the first (and more importantly, UNOPPOSED) hour of the show was the worst hour of the show. The first hour needed to be TNA coming with guns blazing, and that didn't happen. That X Division cage match was terrible and really did the X-Division injustice (although sadly, perhaps that IS the X-Division these days). The ODB-Tara match was too short and didn't showcase much except Tara's butt (which admittedly is something I've wanted to see for a while, but I digress)
Again though I didn't think it was a BAD show, just way to much of a clusterfudge and they had way too much going on. The Main Event was incredible, and they actually did deliver a PPV quality match. But sadly with the commercial breaks, we missed a lot of it.

Ok, so you have a classic title match with a hot crowd between Styles and Angle as your main event, with Styles going over and both guys looking like a million bucks. Finally, the stuff in the ring is taking center stage and that's the best way to close out your show. But wait! Then Hogan comes out under the thinly veiled pretense of putting both guys over. The crowd reaction during and after the match wasn't enough. We needed Emperor Hogan to come out and laud our competitors, right? Or was it just to jumpstart the Foley/Bischoff/Hogan/NWO reunion tease angle and make that the lasting angle of the show.
I'm sorry, I'm not buying that Hogan has all of a sudden become selfless overnight and has the young stars interest at heart. Not when we're bombarded with cronyism in the excessive debuts of has-beens and never-beens, when TNA's homegrown selling point the X-Division ends in a clusterf***, and the best match of the night is used as a transitional device for a recycled angle that overstayed its welcome 10 years ago.

It wasn't my cup of tea outside of a few segments and the main event (though a couple of the other matches were solid), because I'm not a huge fan of the old Monday Night Wars format shows. I'd rather just have a straight-up, solid wrestling show, which Impact has mostly been for awhile now.
That said, given the buzz that's going around here and other places, it sure does seem that TNA was successful at SOMETHING tonight, which may be all they really wanted to do. Their biggest job has been getting people to take any notice of them whatsoever for a couple of years now, and maybe tonight, by throwing so much tonnage of stuff at the audience (I keep calling it sensory overload, I couldn't handle it after awhile at times), they got peoples' attention.
As for the cage match at the beginning, stupid ending, but I'm REALLY hoping it means Homicide's getting a legitimate push. I marked like hell when he decked Kiyoshi, showing he's out for himself. He needs a full-on ghetto Tony Montana gimmick...just without the mountains of cocaine.

Did anyone find the ridiculous close-up of Hogan to close the show to be incredibly funny? Does he not realize a camera is so close to his face?

I'll post what I did in the Impact thread... I wanted Impact to be awesome...I really did. But tonight left me facepalming quite often throughout the evening. The X-Division match would have been great if they hadn't done all screwy shenanigans on us. To be fair it looked like Shelley got hurt or something because he seemed to be all over the place not knowing what to do. But a DQ finish in an 8 man cage match?! THIS IS BULLs*** IS NOT SOMETHING YOU WANT THE FANS CHANTING IN YOUR OPENING MATCH!!! And Homicide couldn't even get out of the damn cage like he looked like he was supposed to do. Because he couldn't get out they had to pan away to something else while they let Cide out through the door. It just screamed to me "We don't know what we're doing!" Jeff Hardy getting involved was surprising, but I honestly don't know what they're going for here. Then we get the never ending build-up of Nash and those up and comers Hall, and Waltman....ugh. Then the knockout match. It was good but what totally killed it for me was for the final three count they zoom in on the pin...1...2...cut to the cage for no f***ing reason....3...back to the action. I was pissed. I know they don't do live shows that often but really? A title changes hands and somebody f***s up to a degree that the final count is not the viewers seeing if Tara kicks out or not but a view of the f***ing cage?!! Then Flair comes in gets hand shaken by all the smiling good guys...and Eric Young. Eric the super serious I hate all good guys leader of World Elite Young. Hanging out backstage in the parking lot marking out with Lance Storm and Robert Roode. WTF??? Then we give airtime to have Lashley turn heel and leave. The guy who won a tournament earning a title shot is just leaving...okay...and nobody cares on TNA...making the whole thing...completely pointless? The Beautiful People... I liked the "pokershows" comment but hated the rest of the segment until Val got there and even then it dragged on too long. And then there was the commercials...the f***ing commercials. They were everywhere. I couldn't believe it. They come back to the show for one angle interview for 4 mintues and then back to commercials. The come back doing a 2 mintue recap of what Hogan said and then back to commercials! Was this the deal TNA made to get 3 hours on a Monday? To make sure that half the show is f***ing commercials? I was at least hoping they would have the last title match to be commercial free...but no...they put in another final commercial. Unbef***inglievable. Oh yeah remember that awesome Raven/Stevie Hernandez Morgan match? Those 2 f***ing minutes if that? Amazing they got that much when we need to promote those blue chippers Nasty Boyz up to their wacky tomfoolery trying to get inside............sigh. Then we come back from a commercial and we can blatantly hear "Make some noise! You're on TV!" right before the crowd then starts to get fired up. ughh....so lame.... Knockouts tag team title match I enjoyed thoroughly...except it had to have a commercial break...sigh... I liked Pope's interview and was laughing when OJ made an appearance for no particular reason...but then Pope and Wolfe get a match with no commercial break ....that lasts 4 mintues.... So far on the show aside from the knockouts they seem to be burying everyone on the current roster of TNA who made a name for themselves in TNA. Hey look Daniels is giving a promo! Wait we need to forget about him for no reason! Look we have a match going on...but let's ignore the match to see the MCMG's, Beer Money, and Rhino knocked out in the back by someone! ugh... Joe/Abyss I liked so I won't bitch about that. I liked Jeff's promo and was happy that he was speaking with passion and wanted the company to succeed...and then Hogan buries him...pissing me off. Build Foley up all night long and then squash him....ugh. By the way it seemed more like the Bischoff power hours than Hogan. I swear Bischoff got more screentime then anyone else on the roster. Styles and Angle was excellent though and I thoroughly enjoyed that match except that Ric Flair showed up and added nothing to the match... I want TNA to succeed I really do; however, this show had me facepalming more than any Impact I've seen in the past year, if this Impact is that start of things to come I think I just about will have had it with TNA. I already have reached that point with the E, and I don't want it to be so with TNA. I really don't.

Except for the first match, that you could hardly watch in the cage ended dumb and had to bleep out the fans.
It was an epic show! I love how spontanious things feel when Bischoff is at the helm. It's the reason I was always a fan of WCW for years. They just make me believe it a little bit, and make it feel gritty.
Every match was greatness, and if this does not give the people at Spike tv the want to give TNA a second show they are crazy.

Hell yes it was a success. It kept an old McMahon-fan like me entertained for 3 hours, so it was definitely a success.
Just to let you know, I had TNA on the tv (Tivo) and I had WWE streaming on the computer and when something interesting came on Raw, I paused iMPACT! and watched it. So yes I watched BOTH shows and I was WAAAAY more entertained by TNA.
Can't wait to see what happens on the next TNA episode.
I'm more excited about wrestling than I've been in about 10 years.
That in itself is HUGE, guys. And I promise you...I PROMISE you...there are thousands, if not millions more worldwide who feel just the way I do, regardless if they're on internet message boards or not.
Tonight was a TREMENDOUS night for wrestling fans. We ALL won tonight.
