Yes. By absolute f***-heads. MCD was a great Kingpin. The funny thing about Kingpin is that he was originally supposed to be black. The only reason he's white is because Stan Lee was worried about offending people by having a black villain rather than a black hero. The Kingpin, as a character, isn't really defined by race. If you recast Captain America as a black man, it has to change the story... The Kingpin works either way.

Let us remember, that the views of any group should be judged by their use of logic and the facts, not "OMG RACISTS!" In this case, they are correct, people get ticked off enough when Japanese Horror Movies are remade with white actors. Logically speaking, gods can assume any form they wish, and should look more like "greys" that is to say, unearthly. While I am irked by it, it is the choice of the director to cast according to the work or to cast according to the pool of actors provided the the society producing that work.
In Re: Odinism: The reason that some White Supremacists have taken to Norse Reconstructionism is the the idea of a pan germanic warrior god appeals to them.

This certainly could be compared a bit to controversies over things like the "racebending" in the casting of The Last Airbender, but it's kind of an apples/oranges situation; the reason some groups get worked up over minority characters being recast as white is because there's a genuine feeling that minorities get short shrift in Hollywood sometimes, and there's some evidence to back that up. Again, it's not every movie/situation, but it does happen.
If this was a group of people who felt that white people were constantly being deprived roles in Hollywood flicks due to their skin color not being marketable enough, then fine, but A) there isn't such a problem in Hollywood for white actors, and B) these guys are ignorant racists who bring nothing to the table.

Was there a boycott for Daredevil since Kingpin wasnt white in that movie? If by "boycott" you mean read the horrible reviews and decided to stay away then yes.

Rumor has it that Kenneth Branagh who has been a big fan of comic purposely casted Idris Elba in order to give a big f*** you to white supremacists who have high jacked Norse mythology as a soapbox for their beliefs. After reading this I'll forgive the producers for not casting Triple H as Thor ;D

Wait...why would anybody care if a supremacist group is boycotting a movie? How did that even make it to the news? Did they do a press conference standing on the back porch of their trailer?

The fact that there are still "supremacists" in this day & age is tragic. In the grand scheme of things, who gives a f*** what color your skin is?

The sad thing is, most of those losers will try to explain to you that it's not about skin color, but about culture, about heritage, that those things make certain people fundamentally different and superior/inferior, etc. It's all BS, of course; they're afraid of people who are different from them, and they run around like headless chickens in vain attempts to justify their fears, prejudices, and in many cases, hatreds.

A lot of people want to present that sort of thing as yet another example of "the minority double standard" but yes, it's a lot more complex than that.

Umm kind of off ish...topic but is Hogun the guy with the starry eyes? Who can see in to the future? I've read about four Thor books. Sorry for the newb question.
Also it's complete crappy crapola that some people, who aren't even fans of the source material, will pick at anything to further their beliefs and goals. But then may be this group are purist Thor/Marvel fans, some how I doubt it.
What is silly to me, is that with say a 'real' story and they add different cultures that aren't present in history to said story, I can understand.....gawd even horrible groups like this. But this is a FICTIONAL STORY, I have no time for any nit picking, it's not real, who cares, this group is just trying to get publicity.

It's sad that in the year 2010 we still have racist f***ers like this, it's sickening. Sorry, but in this case, and maybe ONLY this case, I'm (unfortunately) on their side. Not because I agree with white supremacists, but because if the character is SUPPOSED to be white/Norse/Germanic, keep him such. I had the same problems with when a studio wanted to make a movie version of Anansi Boys where all the main characters (most of them blacks of Carribean descent) were going to be white (and it ultimately never happened, because Gaiman wasn't willing to allow them to do that). It'd be hypocritical to disapprove of turning black characters white in a movie, but then be ok with turning white characters black.

I'll admit it...my initial reaction was "Huh?? A black guy playing the role of a white viking Norse god?" Then I saw his costume, heard his voice, listened to the Shakespear like deliverance of lines, and got a bit intimidated by those badass looking eyes they gave him...and I no longer gave a crap that he was a black guy.
I think this whole movie is going to be awesome, and I think it's going to actually be just a tiny bit better, just because of the actor who plays Heimdall is so good!
