Almost every one of the new character designs/costumes looks like something you woulda seen from 1993 Image ( on in fairness '94 Marvel and DC). EXTREME costumes!
DC in 2011 should not be looking like the early nineties when everything was chains and spikes etc.

Granted, but as gifted a penciler as Lee always has been, character designs has never been his strong suit. Most of these new costumes are just ridiculous looking.

Just wondering about picking up a mini-series of DC's Knight and Squire. I head that there was supposd to be one collection that was good and another which wasn't. Which one is the one by Pat Cornell?

Harley is far and away the worst redesign. nothing else is even in contention. she's supposed to be fun and whimsical, and they made her all psycho mid-nineties suicide girl wannabe. Fun and whimsical? The animated cartoon one was but the comics one is almost as dark and nuts as The Joker himself.

New releases this week that I'm excited about:
New BUTCHER BAKER should be sick and Witch Doctor #1 is coming out which I saw a preview of in WD 85. It looked pretty good.
Costa/Fuso's GI JOE COBRA has been solid so far too. I read that Costa might be doing another comic soon, hopefully he finishes this run though.

Can someone help me understand "The Unternet", I'm reading Red Robin at the minute
I know it's an Online thing where villains can live out fantasies (Like a psycho W.O.W) but I don't get how the person in control get power from it?, And where does the calculator fit in?.
I remember them saying something about the Anti-Life equasion, is it related to "Final Crisis" when Darkseid released the "ALE" all over the world?.
Thanks

well Grant Morrison came up with it so I'm guessing it can't be explained without the words "4th dimensional construct", "quantum snowflake" and "psychedelic tarantula mantra".

Random thing but, does anyone else buy any of those "Showcase Presents..." TPBs from DC?
For those that don't Showcase Presents are huge phone book tomes of older comics from the 50-70s printed in black and white to cut costs.
I love these damn things if only for the fact that they print the old DC horror line, Witching Hour, House of Secrets and the like, and I was giddy with glee when I found out Ghosts will be out in October.

Given the signature frenzy that has gripped this forum currently...
Y'ever notice that every few months, someone on the internet seems to realize "Hey, Civil War happened." and wherever they are goes nuts with pics using the Civil War banner?
(For the record, this is not an insult directed toward this forum. This just isn't the first place I've seen it happen. Wondering if anyone else has ever noticed this "phenomenon.")

I wish it was a better crossover rallied behind.
I want an Acts of Vengeance ( BEST crossover ever) meme.

At this point, I honestly wonder how many people even know what they're referencing with this Civil War business.

Seems like a lot of random comic book threads have been popping up lately, so I'm gonna bump this with a random topic of discussion to remind everyone it exists.
Anyone ever read an issue/story arc/crossover/series you didn't want to?
Because I just did. I just finished War of Kings. I didn't want to read it, because frankly I can't stand the Inhumans and Marvel's endless attempts to convince us that they matter somehow and they're important for some reason.
But after reading X-Men: Deadly Genesis and Ed Brubaker's following run on Uncanny X-Men, I just needed to see Vulcan die so badly.
And in the end, it comforts me to see that Vulcan was killed in the end by his own stupidity and not EPIC MIGHTY BLACK BOLT WHO ALL SHOULD HAIL BEFORE, OH MAJESTIC LORD KING OF THE GREAT AND POWERFUL INHUMANS. (Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I didn't read War of Kings to see Black Bolt die, too.)
But, I'll admit. I'm intrigued to see the fallout. And maybe read more of cosmic Marvel now. And anything that gives Havok exposure is a good thing. So not a total waste of time.

I also read War of King, though only the 2 minis that involved Dark Hawk, cause I like reading issues of his old series as a kid.
As for issues I don't want to read, but had to, any book that makes me buy another book from a different series to follow the story. I was reading Red Robin, and they had a team series with Batgirl. i don't read Batgirl, I read Red Robin, but they had me get issue of Batgirl to follow the story they did in Red Robin. Same with Deadpool/Thunderbolts, though I just got the trade paperback for that. It's just annoying. The art shift in between changes just irritates me, too.

I'm interested in how Flashpoint ends, but i'm not sure this DCU reboot is a good idea.

Speaking of reboots, since this thread is close to 30...
The next Official Comic Book Thread should be New Issue 1 instead of 7. So it fits with all the upcoming reboots and the like.
Just sayin'.
