Our governemt building has been bombed, glass dev\bris is all over the capital. 7 confirmed dead so far.
In addition to that there has been a separate insident, a mass shooting at a youth camp outside of Oslo.
Check out CNN for coverage.
Ths is a horrible day for all of us here. It's just unreal when it happens to you.

I'm reading they arrested the gunman, but not before a number of people were killed. Good Lord, this is awful.

More word: people suspected of the bombing appeared to be foreign, but the gunman on the island appeared to be Norwegian.
Don't think there'll be any clear answers for awhile yet.

I'm shocked. I mean, Norway is one of those countries where stuff like this rarely happens. Thoughts and prayers with everyone involved in this.

Shockingly small death toll for how devastated that area looks. Hopefully that number doesn't raise too much higher.

I'm so glad Ipostponed my trip to Oslo until Saturday as opposed to my planned visit today. Appearantly my brothers whole couch shook form the attack. And he lives miles away from the bomb.

Absolutely tragic. Thoughts & prayers to all affected. Does it appear to be some type of terrorist attack?

Absolutely tragic. Thoughts & prayers to all affected. Does it appear to be some type of terrorist attack? Yes. A carbomb in the middle of the governemt quarter. The other inisdent seems unrelated and it seems the deathtoll will be higher there than in the bombing.

One of our posters, "Macho Dude Handy Damage" is from Norway.
Hopefully he is ok.

This appears to be more political than religious terrorism. I didn't think Al Qaeda and Friends tend to attack specific political parties, and would rather go after mass civilian casualties. This bomb went off at the government office at a time when it would be less crowded than others, plus the addition of the shooting at the youth party camp suggests something more like Timothy McVeigh than Osama Bin Ladin.
I think the incidents are related, as I've also read that a drive from the bomb site to the shooting site syncs up perfectly with the time frame.
At least, that's how it appears from what I've read, on the other side of the planet.
EDIT: It just hit me that someone went on a shooting rampage in a camp for kids. Makes me sick.

The police now believe the two incidents are related. At this point, the bombing seems almost like the lesser of two evils... it is strongly rumoured that anything between twenty and thirty young people were killed in the shooting... there were over 500 people on that island, aged 15 to 25 ...
Hopefully the number of dead is not that high, but I'm honestly afraid it's worse. The shooter was dressed like a police man and survivors have claimed he was armed with a pistol, machine gun and a shotgun.
This is... unthinkable. Someone said that stuff like this rarely happens in Norway; stuff like this never happens here. Ever. We thought we were "safe". And now... our entire capital is turned on its head, and a bunch of innocent kids are dead.
Thoughts go out to anyone affected by the events of today. Still not sure if anyone I know have been hurt or killed but I'm hopeful that is not the case.
Edit: Confirmed ten dead in the shooting incident. Nine seriously injured. Seven confirmed dead from the bomb.

Very sad. Interesting to see that most outlets aren't going down the terroist route and are indicating it was just this one guy.
Whatever it ends up being, what sort of guy decides to go shoot kids? It's mind blowing.

The New York Times is claiming that a terror group calling themselves the Helpers of Global Jihad are claiming responsibility, but that they claim alot of things to try and seem more important than they are, according to a terroris expert talking to the BBC

It was just confirmed that the person responsible for the shooting, and most likely the bombing, was Norwegian. This looks more and more like the act of one lone nutjob.
