I've seen this quote thrown around a lot since hating the Miz became the cool thing to do and I was wondering where it came from. I got into a conversation about the Miz with someone recently and they tried to claim JR said it while I've seen it attributed to Vince, Cena, and Triple H. After a quick Googling of the quote I couldn't find where anyone except Miz haters have said it. Vince has always been reported as being fond of the Miz during shareholders meetings, Cena most likely wouldn't say something like that because he's a class act, Triple H might but it would probably be kayfabe.
So, does anyone know where this came from or is it something people made up to win arguments?

Meh, people on here are tired of him because he's holding people back that are just like him. Somewhat entertaining acts, which will get their balls cut off once they get near the glass ceiling. Except that really he's not holding anyone back because he's basically just a job-boy for the ME'ers right now.
And then there's the people that think he's stopping a Curt Hawkins push or something.

I've seen this comment at least 10 times over the past week and have yet to find an actual source. It just sounds like some made up BS to justify the unhealthy hate he gets from some people.

"The Miz is a plague on wrestling... so let's put all our titles on him, push him as one of our most prominent stars and give him tons of PR gigs..."
Yeah, calling BS on this 'quote'.

People like to validate their arguments/opinions (however worthwhile and factually backed up they are, it's human nature) with 'person x who is in the job and therefore qualified said this!' Some people may hate him and use extra ammo (that may not be true) to try to make it seem like there's a more complex reason to justify said hate.
I'm a fan of the Miz, but the above applies to most things on any public forum especially on the internet where a username can hide you away.
I've heard some stories about Triple H hating Miz and chewing him out repeated times but as always with wrestling there's no way to prove it's true, it's all hearsay. CM Punk has somewhat stupidly stated "I bet Miz doesn't know how to deal with negative opinions about him and goes to his hotel room at night crying" in an interview, but eh, Punk's a guy who wears his opinions on his sleeve without really worrying about any facts being behind them (and could have been about Miz's kayfabe character as opposed to him in real life).
Del Rio also did that odd interview saying he wanted to punch Miz in the face which made some people support this face punching idea, but as always in wrestling it could have been in a pseudo-kayfabe statement.
Some folk do have legitimately sound logic for disliking the Miz ('he is solid but never tries anything new, so doesn't deserve as much as he's been given' seems most sound to me) but you'll always have people hate something in an over the top way and turn it into a bit of a bandwagon.

Who said it first?
Pretty obviously Chris Jericho.

So, does anyone know where this came from or is it something people made up to win arguments? Yeah, probably that, and to somehow justify irrational (and rather ridiculous in my honest-est of opinion) hatred of Miz-ike Mizanin.

Seems like a fake or kayfabed quote.
I really don't need to justify my dislike of Miz with some ridiculous quote. He just bores me, and that's enough reason.

Seems like a fake or kayfabed quote. I really don't need to justify my dislike of Miz with some ridiculous quote. He just bores me, and that's enough reason. That right there is perfect actually. Like I've said for years, I'm a huge Miz fan for more than just kayfabe reasons and it's fine with me if people don't like him. You reasoned it perfectly, he bores you and that's fine but it's ridiculous the lengths people go to justify their dislike on a particular talent. I'm not a Cena fan and that's just because I don't like his character. I mean, recently we had someone say they'd deck the Miz with brass knucks if he were at Mania and the Miz tried to interfere in the main event. You don't see stuff like that when it comes to hating other wrestlers here. I appreciate the mods handling that one quickly but I think we all need to tone down the rhetoric a little bit.

My favorite is how people come up with these elaborate defenses how their hatred of Miz is somehow not at all associated with the fact that his character on TV solely exists to be hated. "Oh yeah, he's a heel and I hate him, but this isn't some mark thing, it's.... different! Somehow!"

I think the term "hate" gets thrown around way too loosely on these boards, but with the Miz I believe it. The man got basically accused of attempted murder on R-Truth. Even 2003 Triple H would be like "man, I wouldn't wanna be that guy".
Although admitedly it's more of a (very) vocal minority thing.

Saying Miz is a plague on wrestling can only come from a Wrestling God.

Saying Miz is a plague on wrestling can only come from a Wrestling God. That's what I was thinking too. It sounds like something JBL would say on Smackdown commentary circa 2007.

Hold your tongue! Curt Hawkins is gonna bring about the next boom period, mark my words! ;D I should note that, if Vince and The Game so much as thought the kid couldn't hang, let alone harbored any actual hatred, he wouldn't have even been on television. Instead, the guy retained the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania. For all intents and purposes, that alone proves they didn't say it, if it was ever said in the first place.

So you're saying someone can't genuinely hate a heel? I'm saying that if you hate someone who's trying to be hated, occam's razor pretty much leads me to a certain conclusion. I'm also saying that with the Miz particularly, people act like his heel schtick has nothing to do with their own feelings, when of course it's all impossible to separate.

It does sound like something JBL said. The dislike Miz has been getting on here from some posters recently has been geniunely unsettling.

I've seen this quote thrown around a lot since hating the Miz became the cool thing to do.... I don't agree with this for the most part. Are people not allowed to change their minds anymore? As for the topic, no clue where that phrase came from, I mean sure, the Miz is pretty bad, but that is some serious hyperbole.
