One other thought about something after the credits. {Spoiler}It said "Tony Stark will return." Does that mean we won't get Iron Man, but just the man inside the armor?

Does that mean we won't get Iron Man, but just the man inside the armor? {Spoiler}Spoiler I could see a scenario in Avengers 2 where the others have to try to coax him out to be Iron Man again in the face of the threat that comes. I can't see a scenario where it's Tony Stark and that's it.

{Spoiler}{I loved it}I like having the comedy intertwine with all the action. The Mandarin was something I never saw coming and I (along with everyone else in the theater) LOL'd. I thought the interaction with the kid in the movie was great as well. My favorite Iron Man, and believe me, I liked both of the previous ones. Why the hell doesn't my little spoiler tag show up in yellow like everyone else's ? Damn this new set up.

I saw it today. I liked it but there are problems. I see it being an internet whipping boy a little. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}1) Mandarin isn't Mandarin but is. Ben Kingsley plays a unappreciated version of himself. Guy Pierce is basically Mandarin, he even has dragon tattoos inexplicably. I didn't like this twist then and I'm not sure I'll ever warm up to it. They said this guy is Colonel Kurtze and we got none of that. I would've liked that. I see them trying something different than here's our new ultimate villain but I like that and it's okay to give us that. Something at the time but didnt think till later was Mandarin in his videos never kills people. His underlings do but he only shoots the Presidents photo(if he did) and it appeared he shot Roxxon accountant on camera but for PG-13 purposes, it was cut but apparently they never showed that either since in the end credit sequence, it shows that guy stand back up. It's little stuff that made me go hmm but I guess was for the twist.
2) There was a problem with the Lava People. I never got a sense how they were vulnerable. Yes, when they blow up, they die but they've also been shot in the face and healed that but when Iron Man shoots his chest, it killed the Main Henchman. But Guy Pierce has super-Lava powers since he breathes fire once and never does again I think. He also can't be killed with one explosion by the hero. Only by a second from his girlfriend.
Also none of these paraplegic can get the Pepper Potts cure and get it out. They're evil I guess. I did like one of the henchman just quitting rather than fight Stark.
3) The Kid. They had to add a kid. I didn't mind him much but it's always too cutesy. George Lucas is part of the Disney family, "You need a kid for the demographics."
5) Rhodey is joke most of the movie. Most of the time he's on, it's comedy relief with his failed hunting tactics. Most exciting stuff Iron Patriot does is with the Henchman.
6) I liked seeing all the Iron Man suits. Funny that Hulkbuster armor that internet wanted so bad was just to lift something. Atleast the kid was underneath. "We're connected, remember?"
There was stuff I liked. I liked Stark going Macguyver and taking out a mansion full of bad guys. Action was very good I thought. Final fight was actually different than another robot man vs robot man of the last 2. Inventive ways for them to fight and with extra armor all around made it pretty exciting.

My thoughts on the Mandarin {Spoiler}{SPOILER}I kinda liked the surprise, but at the same time hated it went that route. I was built up to have this villain, but instead I got ......whatever that was.
By the way, did anyone else get kind of a Ringo Starr vibe from him?

Well, after seeing that, I can honestly say that they butchered both The Mandarin and the concept of Extremis. Honestly, I think the film as a whole exposed the weaknesses in the Iron Man movie franchise. It's a very one-note property, and while popular, isn't greatly satisfying in the story department like films such as Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Those movies, while not everyone's cup of tea, featured stronger casts with much more emotionally fulfilling storytelling. Iron Man is pretty much an endless barrage of snarky dialogue with no real heart.

Finally back home after having seen it a few hours ago. The movie's definitely got its fair share of flaws, but I had a lot of fun with it. The climax goes on way, way too long, though.

I just got back from seeing it and loved it, honestly. It was my favorite out of the three films. Granted, I am not really a comic book guy so the twist didn't bother me too much. I will say that I can definitely understand why fans of the comic would be upset. It was a pretty bold move on their part.
Also, the post-credits scene was hilarious.

If The Avengers was a love letter to comic book fans, Iron Man 3 is the break up through text message. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Having Guy Pearce scream "I AM THE MANDARIN" does not, in fact, make him The Mandarin.

Saw it last night and I loved it. Easily my favourite of the 3 Iron Man films. The comedy was great, the action was great, everything was great. Now I've never read a comic book in my life so you're have to take my opinion with a pinch of salt when it comes to the twist but I loved it. Didn't see it coming at all and it was hilarious.

I'd rather watch "Batman & Robin" than IM3 again.
I hated it that much, At least I can laugh at B&R.

I don't even know what the f***...is this supposed to make me excited to see another Iron Man movie? They basically blew up the whole concept and the main villain with that twist.
I guess that's what you get when you have a director who has disdain for what he's directing.
And can we please tone down the snark? I know it's Iron Man and he's always been snarky but that seems to be all the dialouge for the whole movie.
