the reason Kaitlyn doesn't get pushed more

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was talking about the AJ/Kaitlyn skit on SD and mentioned partly why the heel turn angle was dropped and Kaitlyn was sent to NXT was because Vince wasn't happy with her weight and didn't want her on tv.

Obviously she looks a little different to most of the other models (i.e not anorexic) but it's pretty sad than a woman who looks like that is deemed unattractive in Vince (and Kevin Dunn's mind).

Seems more like a Dunn thing to me as, last I heard, Vince was supposedly high on Kharma (who isn't exactly the smallest woman in the world) and, IIRC, Dunn voiced some dislike of Kaitlyn on that leaked NXT episode with the producer commentary.

Wait, they hired her, and then had her win NXT simply because of her looks (I'd assume, since it's not like she was a better wrestler than Naomi/AJ), and now they're depushing her because of them? What? And like others have already mentioned, she's basically on the same level as Beth/Natalya/Tamina anyway. This makes no sense.

Beth/Tamina/Natalya/Kharma can get away with it because they're meant to be wrestlers and not look like the other women, I guess.

But since she's a model and was signed solely for her looks, Kaitlyn may get held to a different standard.

That's what explains the double standard. Kharma's weight isn't a problem because that's her gimmick (being bigger than everyone else), but if you're Kelly or Alicia, they're not going to happy if you gian ten pounds or something, because you're there to look good.

I'm not surprised. Kaitlyn is a beautiful girl, and obviously her weight is from body building. BUT you put her in a ring next to any of the other divas and she looks like a giant...and not in a way where you can go "OK that's muscle" like when you see Beth, you immediately realize that's her gimmick character etc... but all Vince sees with Kaitlyn is an overweight girl he wants to lose some pounds.

I'm not saying that's right or fair, because of course it isn't--but I can see where he has this mentality. The guy probably never watched an episode of NXT in his life and rarely looked at Smackdown. He probably saw the heel turn took one look at her and said "She's too big get her off TV." I wouldn't put it past him, because it made no sense to have Kaitlyn a charismatic but by far the worse wrestler on NXT (she won worse match of the year from PWI didn't she?) win against people like AJ and Naomi who also had fan support. She only won because of her association with Vickie Guerrero, which would have been fine if they actually used her on SD afterwards but they didn't, she disappeared into obscurity and her angle was given to Kelly Kelly.

I wouldn't be surprised if she is getting booked that way because they think she's too big.

Yeah but like you said, they hired her for her looks. It's not like she was skinny when she first signed. I could understand if she gained a ton of weight since they hired her, but she's always been pretty muscular. So if they had a problem with her weight, why hire her in the first place and then throw her right on NXT?

I got to say, despite this coming from Dave Meltzer, I don't buy this at all.

What's a more likely reason would be that Vince thinks she isn't ready for a big push right now, and because of her size he doesn't think she'd make for a believable jobber, so he threw her on NXT until he thought she was ready.

Honestly, when I first read the thread, I was thinking, because she sucks. But the weight reason is bullshit. Kaitlyn has a much bigger build, she would be insane to try to look like Kelly Kelly. And it's incredibly mysoginistic for anyone to think she has to look a certain way. It would be dangerous to her health to look skinnier.

If this could be proven, if I were Kaitlyn I would take legal action because of a potentially dangerous practice that Vince and company would want for her to get on TV.

Oh come freaking on Mr. McMahon, Kaitlyn is super hot despite not being 66 lbs (like KK or 30 lbs like AJ Lee). I don't mind seeing thickness in my WWE divas (look at Eve for example)

She wouldn't stand a chance. They've fired plenty of other divas for not looking the way they want before. How could she prove it? They could say it's because she's a terrible wrestler or any number of reasons.

To be fair, they really haven't done a lot with any of the current divas. They all get their few months on top then randomly drop down to jobber status. The last divas to actually get a constant push was Laycool.
