8 half assed angles in 6 years? A few of them being on ECW? right. So the alternative is she's over....just because? It's not because she's hot and blonde. It's not because of the attention and angles she's been given. She just is? Right. You could say that about practically any popular pro wrestler; or, hell, popular entertainer in general. Charisma isn't easy to quantify or measure. Imagine Austin never existed, and take all his great promos word for word and give them to some random other midcarder around '96-'97 and they probably would never have gotten nearly as over, even with the exact same material.

But still, Austin got over because of what he did; just like Kelly got over because fans were given reasons to like her. I just think it's stupid to say otherwise.

I don't see how past angles that have either been mostly forgotten or were crappy or were ended before they became anything would help Kelly's popularity these days. Well-written angles that were so good that fans still talk about them to this day in glowing terms can help someone stay over. Being involved in bad, poorly written angles or angles that went nowhere or angles that have been long forgotten by most fans won't help someone stay over.

I wrote a pretty lengthy post about how that's not the only reason she's over about six posts up. 8 half assed angles in 6 years? A few of them being on ECW? right. Eve and AJ are currently in much bigger storylines than those. Twice a week at that. By your logic they should be super over. Eve is currently more over than Kelly Kelly. And AJ is starting to get some reactions as well. Half-assed angles are better than no angles, which is what most divas get these days.

She's been featured for 6 years. Fans have history with her, prior connections. They recognise, remember; doesn't matter if they can't remember details, they remember something positive. They were given reasons to care and it carries through. It's simple stuff.

We can spend all day going back and forth as to why Kelly Kelly got so popular in the first place, but at the end of the day, the point is that she's one of the most popular divas in the division. So of course they'd want to keep her around.

I brought it up in other threads, but I feel the number one reason Kelly gets over (number two being hot and blonde) is her sympathy. Lots of baby faces have benefited from getting the sympathy of the fans, and it's nothing to sneeze at. Ricky Morton made a living off of it. The problem is she's garbage. And in the words of Scott Steiner, she may get the sympy of the people, but she doesn't get my sympy at all.

The stuff Kelly has been in has mostly been crap, stuff that most of the audience has either completely forgotten or didn't see because it was on ECW, and stuff that ended as quickly as it started, with long stints of jobbing included. What Kelly has done and Steve Austin being involved in many of the most memorable moments in wrestling history is a night and day difference in treatment by the writers. Kelly is over in spite some of the bulls--t angles she's done, not because of them.

what i remember most about kelly is watching her when i was babysitting this little girl one time. the little girl was maybe 6 or 7, and kelly was teaming up with mickie in a tag match.
the little girl, not knowing who either kelly or mickie were (AKA, "the good guys") told me she liked them the moment they came out. why? because "the blonde one is pretty, and the other one is wearing pink."
bam. she gained a fan for being blonde. wwe should keep her as long as they can. does kelly suck at wrestling? yes. but they have money with her.

When it comes to blonde bombshells, she has nothing on Torrie Wilson.

When it comes to blonde bombshells, she has nothing on Torrie Wilson. I never thought Torrie was all that attractive, and she was about the same as Kelly in the ring but never got the same backlash.

That's because back in the day, SmackDown was the looks brand and Raw was the wrestling brand. Torrie never really did all that much and there was an alternative. Anyway I say this is fine by me. I mean now that the Bellas are gone and Rosa seems to never wrestle again, Kelly's pretty much left with Maxine and the rest competent opponents. She does better when she has someone who can sell like Beth can.

Probably because they didn't have her wrestle on PPV's or have her win the main women's title. Also, for much of Torrie's tenure the main focus of the women's division was Trish/Lita/Molly/Victoria instead of her.

If she didn't do the stinkface in her matches, she would get the Haas pop. If Kelly gets the Haas pop, then what does every other woman on the roster get? Negative heat? As much as she's maligned here, she might be the only over woman in the company.

So does Kelly... actually smell? It's funny you ask that, because this board's jokes about Kelly Kelly's hygiene are why I can't get into her Something just seems "off" about her.
