I've had this image up in a tab for the last half an hour, I just casually look at it every now and again. I'm not even a TNA fan, haven't been for a year or two now but there's something about this image that is just fascinating to me. I can't bring myself to look away for too long. Eh. That's what happen when you get an 12000 seats arena, apparently set up for 6000, with something like 3000+ sold (acc. to pwinsider & mostly confirmed by the observer, which said "they've sold far mnore tickets than they have for any of their recent shows") : half the arena is empty on the hard cam side. (as for the show, it was mostly mediocre. Action was decent to great, but the booking killed it)

jrev1313 Couple of questions?
Was the crowd placed on one side because of the setup for BFG or was it to make it appear as if the whole arena was full?
How big was the PPA/PPRay chants. WAs it just Willie and his boys, or a sizable amount of fans?
What was the advertising in San Diego like for BFG. Did TNA really do any advertising?
Really, throwing a cup at Dixie. Stay classy San Diego.

jrev1313 Couple of questions? Was the crowd placed on one side because of the setup for BFG or was it to make it appear as if the whole arena was full? The second I'm pretty sure. I suppose the train of thought was that they had open spots on the camera side and wanted to make sure it looked packed on there. There were still fans on the bottom of the hard camera side but that was about it. How big was the PPA/PPRay chants. Was it just Willie and his boys, or a sizable amount of fans? There were fans in different sections doing it but not a huge amount. It was basically a mixture of some knowledgeably indy fans and some casuals who seemed into the stars more than anything. Honestly, that was just about the only positive chant of the match which is why it stood out to me. Other than that, you had "boring" among other chants unrelated to the match (Michael Cole, JBL, etc.). What was the advertising in San Diego like for BFG. Did TNA really do any advertising? No idea there, I don't live in San Diego but considering this was on a college campus and did so poorly, I'm guessing they did no real local advertising or that crowd didn't really care. Really, throwing a cup at Dixie. Stay classy San Diego. Thankfully I think it missed for the most part and merely hit in front of her leading to her kicking it. I was actually surprised that a few people bought Dixie Land t-shirts. Not a large amount but I did see a few with them.

I guess I can be included in the "show was fun because I was there" crowd. I thought it was decent overall. It didn't live up to "biggest show of the year", but I don't think it was crap either. I thought the biggest letdowns were Ultimate X seeming a little anti-climactic and a lack of swerves in the main event. There were some neat spots in the main event, but given that it was a No DQ match I was expected a lot more wrestlers to get involved. Bully Ray talking to someone in the locker room ended up being completely pointless. The writing team needs to be taught about Chekhov's gun: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chekhov%27s_gun

Can I just say that I absolutely f***ing hate the fact they used a chairshot to the head in the Main Event?

I enjoyed the show, but I think the biggest issue is that BFG is supposed to be TNA's Wrestlemania and it wasn't presented that way. If this was an episode of Impact, or a PPV that wasn't BFG or Slamaversary I think it would have been better received. Maybe it's just me, but you could really tell that there was a booking change not long ago with how the run up to the PPV was.
I do like that the Bro Mans are tag champs now. Sure they aren't anything special in the ring, but they are entertaining... especially Robbie E. Who would have guessed that after his awful debut a few years ago that he'd only need to win a World Title to be a Grand Slam champ?

The Ultimate X was incredibly underwhelming to me, especially considering the talent involved and the gimmick that I rate the gimmick very highly (I rate some of the first few matches of the gimmick incredibly high in TNA history). With the amount of hype it got as well, it just seemed so meh to me.
The fact that half of the match had the ladder involved, only a few times the cables were used, and Hardy (and I don't think Joe did either) climbed at all. This match had Jeff Hardy in it for the first time in an Ultimate X, that alone was a huge point of interest for me. Where was a classic spot by him? Death defying spots on the cables with Aries, Joe, Manic and Shelley as it was it built up to have? Where was it all? I will give credit to Joe and Aries though for really putting the effort in, especially near the end of the match. It just felt like a multiple man X division match that should be on Impact or even Xplosion.
That ending...that ending? Why? What? How? Like many of the finishes from last night.
Just one of the many things that baffle me from last night
The show was enjoyable in a so bad it's good way. I was entertained in the worst way possible. I really look forward to the next Botchamania. It's up there with Heroes of Wrestling, Uncensored 1996, December to Dismember, King of the Ring 1995, Halloween Havoc 2000 etc etc.

I wish I'd read the spoilers before I watched the show because then I could've just not bothered.
- Ultimate X was okay but given the talent involved and the match stip it should've been much better - I did enjoy the ending though.
- The Tag Title match was stupid mainly because they kept their best act off the main card (promo aside) of their biggest show of the year but the fact that BroMans won just made me want to shoot myself. How is that the pinnacle of your f***ing tag division TNA? Bromans vs. Gunner and Storm? Jesus christ.
- Angle turning down the HoF on this show is a complete joke, what about the people who attended his dinner last night? Might as well tell them to go f*** themselves. Stupid.
- The KO's match was meh but the reveal of Gail and Lei'd Tapa being in on it was pretty cool. I absolutely LOVED Angle/Roode. That was seriously awesome stuff, the psychology throughout the match with Roode working on the neck/head of Angle all the way through and for it to pay off after the Super Angle Slam was really cool. These guys stole the show (not that it was hard).
- The ECIII debut was disappointing, took too long and I've never liked PPA so I couldn't even get excited about that.
- Magnus/Sting was booked with all the right intentions and logic but it just failed because Sting is just not good enough to work a believable match anymore and the crowd just didn't give a shit about Magnus. At least TNA had the right idea with this one though.
- The main event was just too disjointed and filled with too much crap. As soon as they started this AJ/Dixie storyline I had a bad feeling that the BFG main event would be ruined by this shit. However, there were a couple of cool spots - the 450 through the table was insane. And the result was great, AJ as TNA WHC once again feels great. The celebration in the crowd at the end was a real feel good moment so I guess I can give TNA a pass on the match because of how the show ended.
I guess at least the main event had a conclusion so it wasn't as bad as Battleground but this is meant to be TNA's Wrestlemania and, okay a lot of 'Mania's have sucked too, but they all felt like big deals in spite of the poor show. This felt like how an Impact would be (Roode/Angle aside) if they went to three hours. Not good, very disappointing.

At least with Halloween Havoc 2000 you had a decent Booker/Steiner match and a nice Triangle Tag opener. I seem to remember enjoying Jarrett/Sting also.

I never believed the negative people on the web and the shit they said about TNA, but for their biggest show of the year that is not a good sign...

I can't find one from that angle from last night that really gives a sense of how full the stands were on that side.

According to Meltzer, AJ has injured his arm in the table bump. He injured himself for this piece of shit show. That's so depressing.

It's probably not a great sign that the new babyface champion is hurt either.
I doubt it's serious enough that he can't wrestle with it because he finished the match and seemed fine but I'd want my World Champion to be 100% if I were ushering in a new era or whatever.

How high would the level of LOLTNA be, if AJ lost the title back to Bully Ray on the next Impact? Somewhere way above 9000, I'd say, but I really hope they are not THAT stupid.
