It's probably not a great sign that the new babyface champion is hurt either. I doubt it's serious enough that he can't wrestle with it because he finished the match and seemed fine but I'd want my World Champion to be 100% if I were ushering in a new era or whatever. How high would the level of LOLTNA be, if AJ lost the title back to Bully Ray on the next Impact? Somewhere way above 9000, I'd say, but I really hope they are not THAT stupid. Keep in mind, they've done that TWICE before.

WWE have empty sections on the hard camera side quite often as well (in fact if you notice when watching WWE the hard camera side is pretty much never shown on screen.
It looks as if two out of 3 sides worth of tiered seats were full (in fact there are a few people sat on the empty side and I doubt they'd stick anyone there if there where still seats left on the camera facing side) so it's nowhere near as bad as that picture looks
To me it looks more like they booked an arena bigger than the amount they could draw rather than them failing to draw a respectable crowd based on the size of the company which I think they've managed to

Granted the Giant Center isn't exactly a small building either. But I've noticed that is an issue for TNA, and I think that has a lot to do with the financial issues TNA is dealing with. WWE does a lot of other things in promoting that help them make money at live events. TNA's promo team kind of sucks

There's nothing wrong with very small venues. ECW used to do shows in the Chicago area at a place called the Odeum in Villa Park. They packed the place and the crowd was loud and energetic. That resonates with the live crowd and anyone watching on television. The cost of booking these sort of places is significantly cheaper than arenas as well. They need to be realistic with their attendance. Never book at a venue of more than 2,000 seat capacity again.

What I've heard is that the larger buildings are cheaper because fewer events can run them. Picture from WrestlingForum: I don't think it looks bad.

Bigger buildings may be cheaper, but it's also a lot harder to make money if you aren't getting a huge crowd.

I'm not sure about the bigger buildings are cheaper theory, it may very well be the case but the original ECW was notorious for it's shoestring budget and they were able to run buildings the size of Hammerstein and so forth. I think that TNA could run those types and would probably be better off doing so.

He is fired right? Can't he just show up on raw and job to del rio in 3 minutes? Complete with armbar and beatdown?

Listening to Observer Radio, when Alvarez said 6,000 Dave said they were set up for 6000 and filled half of it, "I would be surprised if they had any more than 3500", and also that in the area "3500 is close to what WWE does."

The injuries remind me of the first WWE Over The Limit show:
- Concussion for Ted DiBiase via R-Truth slap. - Randy Orton injures his arm via posing. - Punk getting busted open during his match with Rey. - Batista hurting his tailbone via being thrown off a f***ing car. - John Cena losing a tooth.

During Ultimate X. After the main event. So I went to this last night. I've been busy all day, so I didn't have a chance to post these or add to the conversation. Me and two family members walked up and bought $30 tickets that were on the hard camera side, but way up to the top of the bowl. Then about 15 minutes before showtime, a man in a suit with a TNA badge told us to move up (or down in this case) to fill the bottom most rows so they'd look good for television. Suddenly we were 8th row from the floor on TNA's biggest show of the year for about $50 less than what it cost those poor saps that sat next to us with tickets they purchased. I felt bad in some ways, but I enjoyed myself thanks to reading this board throughout the show and other audience members. Crowd hated Chavo. The preshow match was actually quite good, but it died a VERY fast death once Bad Influence was eliminated. Crowd didn't care for the beatdown of Eric and Joe Park. Ultimate X was fine, but again, the finish killed the almost hot crowd. There were a few uncomfortable bumps taken by Jeff and Aries that I seriously had to look away for. I'll have to watch the show on DVR to see what they were again. The ending sucked. It sucked bad. Abyss' return got a warm reception. I saw by two old men who would shit talk anything going on in the ring. They were cool though and hated refs that can't see heel tactics. I predicted the Mr. Olympia inclusion would spell doom for the quality of the show, and I was right. Bro Mans won in a decent match, but really... It served it's purpose to get the two guys to pose with the bodybuilder on PPV. By now the "biggest show of the year" had only had finishes that silenced the crowd. Loud "this is awkward" chant when Angle turned down the Hall of Fame. A guy behind me said, "If I was threatened with going into TNA's Hall of Fame, I'd decline too!" That was funny for more reasons than one. Women's match was just 3,000 guys staring at Brooke's ass. Not that there's anything wrong that it. A lot, and I mean a lot of people saying "they took that from WWE!!!" when Lei'd Tapa helped out Gail ala Tamina and A.J. Lee. Angle/Roode was MOTN and a candidate for best TNA match this year until that weird godawful finish. Had Angle stayed in the stretcher, at least the finish would have had lasting effect. But instead, Kurt stands up and does his heroic walk to the back. A hero so awesome, he lost because he hit his finisher from the top. By this point, the show had flown off a cliff. Again, it's hyped as their WrestleMania and so far we've seen heels go over in every match, with endings that made the crowd more confused than climaxed. EC3 got a few cheers and not many people remember him as Bateman. This is good because he was always a good worker and stands a chance of getting over elsewhere from the WWE machine. Pretty Peter Avalon got a nice little pop once people realized who he was. Lots of chants for Fernum. Match was nothing, though. Magnus/Sting was embarrassing to watch. Stinger needs to hang em' up. People were making fun of his half assed Scorpion Death Lock that he didn't sit down on. Old man next to me said "If you want to hurt his back, maybe you shouldn't just twist his legs together and stand up halfway. I loved the throwback to Flair/Sting at the Clash with Magnus no-selling. But, as was thematic on this show, the ending killed excitement. Finally we got to AJ/Bully. Well... they tried, and the match was fun in spite of their surroundings. Dixie looked lost out there. She kept on looking at the camera man to mug for the camera her disdain. This is funny because being there live, you could tell just how much of a production the whole thing was. That 450 into the table was CRAZY. I thought Styles smashed his face on the ground floor. Luckily not, still. The weird interference and then lack thereof is puzzling. Bully was talking to someone backstage and I guess whoever they were had better things to do than be at the arena. Our section had a great laugh at Earl Hebner stopping his count the first time Dixie yelled at him, only to complete the count because... they were on a different end of the ring or something. During the main events, a man dressed up as Spiderman drew some of the biggest pops of the night. In fact, it's worth mentioning that the loudest the audience got all night was chanting "ECW! ECW" during the main event. Arena was empty on one side and half full on the other. The magic of television and moving people from their seats to more aesthetically configurations made it look good, but don't be fooled. It was empty as it gets. On the hard camera side, there was the Knockouts VIP group of people who had Medieval Times set ups where they could eat dinner and watch TNA at the same time. What a value. They did the usual "loudest people go backstage" schtick. I saw Wayne from the Wonder Years. He's short. 5'4" short. Rey Mysterio towering over him short. Walking back to the car, a lot of people around me were saying the same things the people on here were saying actually, save for a few. The general consensus was the action in-ring was good, but the finishes were horrible and it was sad to watch Sting. All in all, for $30, it was an experience. It was no WrestleMania style card, that's for sure. But I do look forward to see what they do with AJ. Something. Anything.

There were quite a few people disappointed at the match results who were there live at the show, myself included in some of them.
More than a few folks wanted Bad Influence to beat EY and Park; in fact, I heard a couple of people sitting behind me who stated out loud, "Well we can leave now" when they were pinned.
I have to admit, I was impressed by the match Roode and Angle put on, and was far and away the best of the night. When Angle was getting ready to be carted off post-match, there were a lot of people who appeared to be truly worried, what with his history of neck issues.
The Ultimate X match, the first one I've seen at all, let alone live, since I don't order the PPVs, pretty much underwhelmed me, especially when the majority of the time when they were going after the belt, they used a ladder instead of climbing the stanchions.
Not sure if this came out on the PPV, but there was some confetti coming out of the catwalk of the building, kinda giving away the ending to the main event

Funny story after the PPV. When I went back to my hotel for the evening, I was chatting with one of the front desk employees, who would have been there himself if not for work, when two gentlemen came up and asked where they could find a liquor store open at that time of night, since they had "drank their boss's bottle last night, and they'd be in big trouble".
I didn't pay any attention to them, until one of them turned towards me and I saw that their shirts said "TNA Security" on the front. We chatted about the show as they were headed out, and I asked them "Is Dixie that upset about the ending?" They chuckled and walked out the door.

One thing I didn't understand, and maybe someone else who was there can explain it to me.
It seemed like every time Earl walked out to ref a match, the crowd booed him for "screwing" Bret.
All of a sudden, during the main event I believe, he starts getting cheered? I didn't get that.

Meltzer stated on today's Observer Radio that they got around 3,500 fans TOTAL. I would love to know how much of that was papered.
