I can't see Cena tapping out. When he's in a submission, he just sits there. He's never even went as far as TEASING a tapout, at least not during Super "Never Give Up" Cena era. Sheamus does the same thing. When they're in submissions that 95% of the roster would struggle to escape from, they sit there and chillax. I mean, look at this That's hilarious, Punk looks like he's in more pain.

Sheamus does the same thing. Cena would happily tap out if the company decided to spotlight submissions again. It happened... I dunno, 2002 or so... whenever Benoit and Angle were really pushed. All of a sudden, it wasn't embarrassing to tap out to a submisison move anymore. Then it was. They could easily change it so it's not, again.

The Cena/Punk is pretty funny, though still not to Shawn with a lollipop levels of "f*** yer submission" hilarity.

I always felt Cena could be tapped out if for no other reason than his devotion to the fans. I could easily see Cena, even at his Super-est tapping out so he can live to fight another day and continue to entertain the fans rather than get his arm broken and deprive the fans of himself for 6 months over macho pride.
And with Cena's penchant for supposedly brushing off losses, it's not like he'd be hurt by You Tapped Out chants.

I think the way Cena sells submissions is more of a "is he going to pass out from the pain rather than tap?" approach and I don't really mind it. I remember it being really effective when Benoit passed out after Lesnar put him in the Brock Lock and of course it made Austin when he passed out in the Sharpshooter.
I think in a way it would look more legit for Punk or Bryan to make Cena pass out in the Anaconda Vice or the Yes! Lock.
Just as long as it looks good, and doesn't wind up like the mess Sting and Matt Morgan had going on not too long ago.

I like how the storyline is playing out with the heels having the same thoughts as me in this thread. I hope they continue to do what's "good for business"

Personally I don't care who's WWE champion, because titles mean virtually nothing anymore.
But it'll still be fun seeing the Stone Cold angle rehashed.

They take the most absurd stance that'll anger the fans most so when they're proven incorrect the fans will be happy to see these delusional heels fall.

There are those of us who don't want Goatface as champ, so in that regard I support the heels. Long live Orton as corporate champ I say.

That's all well and good, but that doesn't affect the narrative being told: that Bryan is worthy and will prove it in the end. You're not supposed to agree with the heels from a storytelling point of view. The same way you're not supposed to be pulling for Richard Long-shanks in Braveheart or Commodus in Gladiator. The heels are clueless oppressors and the face, Bryan in this case, the defiant hero.

Well most of the time the heels are right.
When it comes to this story it makes sense aswell because we all know Vince prefers hosses.

Unfortunately, a lot of times WWE writing is so poor that the heels become sympathetic. But they shouldn't, when done right. No one felt sorry for Ted DiBiase for example when he lost his million dollar belt to his long-suffering man-servant. In storytelling, the haves are always the bad guy, and the underdog the hero. Excess, oppression and abuse of power are villain traits. And as for Vince, him preferring hosses is wrong and has been proven wrong. Its archaic carny bullshit that's been disproven by legitimate fighting, and also the fact that wrestling's biggest money drawing stars are a median size of 6'2", and about 240 lbs. The only over 6'5" long-term draws in WWE history are Hogan, Andre and Undertaker. That's it.

If I gather anything from this thread, it's that the Great Khali should be WWE Champion.
Right?
