Punks overall logic "If you dont agree with me then **** You" Kinda feels like the whole internet's logic. Seems to be the thread's logic. I mean, all pro-wrestlers have to be in the business of self-promotion. He is in a contract, so he has to abide by certain rules, or void the contract, so the Charlie Sheen thing makes sense. Especially since the contract may give WWE the right to sue him if he pulls something like this. As for the other stuff? Eddie is dead. And Austin still works with WWE on occasion so see contract. But then, I don't follow Punk. I don't care about what he says outside of the ring, hell if anything I remember thinking this is mild to his early Indie heel days. But if people want to be offended, sure, sure, you have the right. You don't have to like him as a person. However, this doesn't make your viewpoint right. Having the right and being right are separate. Though, I am a guy calling himself The Absurdist, so clearly my view might be a bit distanced over something, because... well all of this is kind of a joke to me. Twitter is a joke, it is impossible to convey nuance and complexity in 140 characters. By engaging in reductionist thinking towards other people's thoughts/beliefs/feelings based on a small sampling is just horribly irrational. Regardless of who it is. "Punk said this, so he must believe it!" In the immortal words of parent's and teachers everywhere: "People lie." But here is something to ponder on: And if you don't like him then: But then, seeing as how I have no intention of changing anyone's mind I doubt either of those two quotes will help sway you.

I hope George Takei's brand of ribbing is less cruel than Mr. Fuji's, lol

But here is something to ponder on: And if you don't like him then: But then, seeing as how I have no intention of changing anyone's mind I doubt either of those two quotes will help sway you. I don't understand the point of this post. People lie so we shouldn't take Punk seriously? Why would we bother discussing anything anyone says ever then if everything is some game? Also, saying he is in the business of self-promotion and he can't do this or can't doesn't do anything to fundamentally absolve him from looking like a hypocrite. Really, he looks worse overall taking shots in one direction and retreating from doing the same in the other. If you're going to take shots, go the whole hog. If you're bullshitting now on Twitter, how do I have any idea you're not bullshitting the rest of the time, too? Punk's whole thing is a serious blur between real guy and kayfabe character, so it's silly to separate things when they seem convenient in one direction and not the other. But if people want to be offended, sure, sure, you have the right. You don't have to like him as a person. However, this doesn't make your viewpoint right. Having the right and being right are separate.By the same token, me being offended doesn't mean I'm wrong. (Just to clarify, I'm not really offended by his specific opinions so much as the hypocrisy overall and the way people defend him needlessly.)

None of this really bothers me. Then again I'm pretty damn atheist and I hate Baseball. It shouldn't be about what you believe in. It should be whether or not he's being honest or if he sticks to his own principles-- that is the essence of this thread's topic. He really doesn't. And he resents people for not believing what he believes.

He also tends to be treated by his fans as a Nietzschean Ubermensch, and anybody who isn't "with" him is basically the Last Man that must be erased in his wake (hence some referring to those who aren't Punk fans as 'prey').

Punk is a hypocrite even while being a dick (which is more interesting)

Man, Punk can't say anything without people calling him a hypocrite.
I guess this is the price for being outspoken and famous.

Being called a hypocrite isn't the price for being outspoken and famous, it's the price for being a hypocrite (especially when you are outspoken and famous).

Being on good terms with Stone Cold doesn't mean you aren't allowed to have opinions.

Didn't eventually Eddie clean up? Did SCSA get a tattoo of beaten and bruised Debra on his neck and showboats about beating her and that is his only claim to fame? Yeah, totally same situations.

It's not even the abrasiveness that I mind, it's that all his views are straight out of ninth grade. Religion is bad!? Chris Brown is a scumbag!? He says nothing controversial, yet he thinks he's lighting the status quo on fire. I can't wait for his diatribe against homework.

Sorry, too much overt religious discussion going on here.
