Morning hot stove update: -The Bautista to Philly deal has pretty much been shot down by Heyman and a Sportsnet.ca reporter. -The Mets have a market developing for Ike Davis. In addition to the Brewers and Rockies, the Stros, Rays and O's are interested. -Bronson Arroyo seems to be possibly heading to Minnesota. I like that fit.

I'd be shocked if the Brewers had anything to offer the Mets. The farm system is pretty awful. Perhaps they could include Hunter Morris (coming off a really down year in his AAA debut) and maybe someone like Jason Rogers (older, but had a monster AA/AFL season)...but the cupboard is pretty bare. And what they do have is close enough to fill a lot of the holes on the major league roster.

Helton is gone and the only other guy is Pacheco (who is awful.) Why not Davis for Pomeranz? Reclamation project for reclamation project.

So apparently the O's are shopping Matt Wieters. Him and Hardy are probably the most tradeable assets the Orioles have. Their farm system, outside of maybe 4-5 games is horrible, they have a gaping hole at second base, and left field. They've got maybe 1 or 2 legit starting pitchers in their rotation. Why not see what they could get for them? A team like the Dodgers might make some sense.

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports that the Yankees, Rangers, Red Sox, Royals, Indians, and Mariners are all interested in Carlos Beltran.

Oh god, I mean, how can we ever let that awesome guy get away, the Yankees better give us something good back in return. (turkeysandwich stands there smiling nervously, hoping that they can't read his mind and that he really doesn't care if all the Cards get back is a Jim Leyritz autographed jock strap.)

Freese wasn't very good last year, I'm not sure how much any team should give up for him

It was close race for CY Young, Max was as good as the other choices.

He received 28 of the 30 first-place votes.
The Mariners' Hisashi Iwakuma and the Rangers' Yu Darvish were the other two finalists.

Interestingly enough, the other 2 1st place votes didn't go to either Darvish or Iwakuma. They were split between Anibal Sanchez (who finished 4th) and Chris Sale (who finished 5th).

I would love it if after Robinson Cano signs his 20 mil/year contract with the Yanks he would show up to spring training with a full beard. What would the Yankees do then, bench him?

Jeez louise, Wainwright's so far had three Cy Young caliber seasons under his belt and he once again doesn't get robbed by any stretch, but just barely topped. He's gonna need a 30+ win/1.40 ERA/10.0+ WAR year to get one at this rate.
