I used to work in Customer Service at a cable company..... it would get enraging at times, but some people were hilarious at how angry they would get at certain things. I can't believe the cable company gave a refund in this situation. It actually sickens me. My condolences man, the cable company people always seem so damn shocked when I'm nice to them that it almost bums me out. Although I did have to call once because I got on-screen confirmation that a PPV I ordered had been purchased then when the show started it told me to order it so when I call and talked to a rep she made an off-handed comment to the effect of "I don't know why you care anyway." I will second the thing about reps being shocked at kindness. Had to call Verizon about a router that was completely effing up and I was polite as I could be. The woman on the other end seemed overly happy.

I'll be honest as a guy who worked in a call-center and spent most of his adult life doing some sort of customer service job, you put up with so much BS (especially at call-centers) that it's always legitimately shocking when someone treats you nicely.

A couple different times in the past I've asked to speak to a supervisor to let them know that the person I spoke with was very nice/helpful. I actually had a lady from an insurance company call me from her home in California to follow up & make sure my grandma got her pain medicine while she (grams) was in the last couple weeks of her life. I was stunned. I sent her supervisor, & the supervisor's supervisor a nice long letter to let them know the awesome job this lady did. In each case I told them, "I know you normally get complaints, but I'm calling to compliment your employee". They were shocked every time. Hey guys what about the people who watched this PPV didn't like the finish because they hate this storyline or hate screwy finishes in their PPV main event do they not have a say in this Sure they get a say, just not a refund.

Having a say without even the possibility of a refund is as meaningless as it is valueless.

I've also worked in call centres and it is an enormously soul crushing job. People just use you as the target for their ire at the company, like you personally are the person making the decision to call them, or refuse to help them with their problem when they call you.
I'm glad there are people who deliberately compliment the call centre agents. I do the same thing. When I worked at one in particular, if a customer complained to you, about you, you had to log a complaint and resolve it. But if they complimented you? You couldn't log it. You could only log a compliment to another agent. That's f***ed up. I always make a point of complimenting the agents that are nice to me.

They promised ~three hours of wrestling, & provided ~three hours of wrestling. If I thought it was a horrible decision to have Taker beat Punk, should I have gotten my money back?

This is precisely why I'm doing everything in my power to never work another customer-service oriented job again. People just want their asses kissed, and feel like they have the right to talk do you however they want, because they know it's your job to be a nice little doormat. It is the worst.

Odds are, they threw a big enough stink that the company just said f*** it, and gave 'em the refund. Bogus of the customer to do, and Cox to comply, but it happens all the time in retail. I really believe this is the correct answer. I think it was 2010 or 2011 Royal Rumble that I had ordered HD for the first time from Comcast. The feed kept jumping in and out and for some reason, whichever cable box you buy it on, is the only cable box you can watch it on. We called customer service to see if we could just get the standard version and the difference refunded (this was less than an hour into the show too). We got the bill and the whole Rumble was refunded and we didn't pay for it. We called to see if it was going to come on the next bill and they told us not to worry about it. I actually had the opposite problem - took a couple of extra phone calls to get the PPV but I only got it for $15. But all that nonsense happened before the event and not after. and I was told when I was ordering that the event was non-refundable. Fair enough, you gave me a discount

I just chalked it up to the guy 1 thinking we were more angry than we really were and guy 2 not wanting to change anything since all he had to do was tell us it was already credited to our bill. Never had an issue again, which is fine because I hate calling to any customer service. This had better not be true because any company that does that does not like money.
Not every show needs to have a happy ending for goodness sake just like how some massages end with just your back feeling relieved, pun intended.

Haha I'm working on it, I work at a restaurant right now. I'm looking to do some manual labor or work in a lab at a hospital or in an office, something like that. But like you say, the job market isn't screaming. Plus I'm working on taking care of some personal shit I've let hold me back for a while. Just keep on trying, and don't freak out and beat anyone up, because then no one will hire you

"I want a refund for WWE Night of Champions" "Why, was the show not to your liking?" "Yes....Well actually the show was to my liking. The epilogue on the other hand...." I want a refund for No Way Out '98 because Savio Vega was the DX mystery partner. Really? Because I actually want to mail them a check for even more money for that!

Well I think your simplifying it my friend how do you know that the people wanted and got the refund overall didn't like the show and the screwy finish put them over the edge It doesn't matter if you didn't like it. When you pay for entertainment there's an assumption of risk that you might not enjoy it. I paid $150 dollars to go to a Packers/Vikings game at Lambeau Field in 2006. It was advertised heavily as Brett Favre's last game at Lambeau in a thriller against his toughest opponent. The game was a 9-7 sloppy game played in freezing rain and Favre played 4 more seasons. Not exactly what I wanted, but I bought a right to view the game inside the stadium and that's it. I don't pay to see something that was up to my own standards. I just hoped I would.
