Is there an exact time someone can pin point where it debuted? I found this online. It's where Andre beats Hogan in Main Event in '88, and sells the title to DiBiase right after. In the pre match interview Hogan is wearing one WWE title and when he comes out, he is wearing the Winged Eagle. Is this its first appearance? Also I ask if it should be brought back, because this photo looks awesome.

I remember for years thinking that the belt debuted at WM4. And then I saw the match from The Main Event. But yes, I'm almost certain that was its first appearance. I can't remember seeing it before that.

No.
It's small and outdated.

It's small yes, but so is Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, etc. It was big enough for Hogan.

It's still the definitive WWF/E title for me (as it would be since it was in place when I was a kid) so sure, bring it back. HTH.

They have yet to make a belt that looks anywhere near as good, it never should have been replaced.

I don't get why people say it's small. That photo shoot with current guys holding it proves it still looks great.

Heck, even if they just brought back the Attitude Era version it would still be head and shoulders above what they have now.

The 'Winged Eagle' is a thing of beauty, but I can understand WWE wanting to update it's belts every decade or so as an attempt to keep things fresh. The last two belts are a bit too flashy and blingy to me, but I don't mind the new belt. Yes, I think the Winged Eagle looks better. I think the Attitude Era one looks better too.

It seems to me that WWE should absolutely want the belt held by the current champ to be the same belt that Hogan, Austin, Savage, Bret, HBK, and Flair held. Changing the way the belt looks creates a mental disconnect with its heritage.
Besides, it's also the best looking belt the WWF/WWE has ever had.

You know, seeing a thread like this just makes me remember how people for a long time were also wanting the classic style of the Intercontinental Championship back. Then when it did come back, some of those same people were not happy with it, even if it was pretty much the same design, but with current logos instead of the classic logos. I have a feeling if WWE did the same with the WWE title, we'd get similar reactions. Oh, and as for this post? I don't get why people say it's small. That photo shoot with current guys holding it proves it still looks great. It mostly has to do with the height of the cemter plate. Going by stats on real-scale replicas: Winged Eagle: 9 inches tall Attitude, Undisputed, Spinner, Current: 10 inches tall

I don't see the problem with a smaller belt, though - the larger the belt is, the smaller it makes the wrestler wearing it look.

I kinda wish that once they abolish the World Title that they make Big Gold the WWE Title Belt.

I kinda wish that once they abolish the World Title that they make Big Gold the WWE Title Belt. That will never happen. A WCW belt would never be the top prize in the WWE. However, I'd be all for them merging the WHC & IC & having Big Gold becoming the new IC belt.

Heck, even if they just brought back the Attitude Era version it would still be head and shoulders above what they have now. My favorite belt ever. I never was really a fan of the winged eagle. I'm still baffled why the undisputed title had such a relatively short stay.

For those who say it's too small, if anything the last two belts have been too big and hideously ugly and garish.
