From JR's most recent blog: While I'm sure others don't know what they're talking about, I'm positive JR doesn't either. Other people who are Billy's friends are saying very different things and I'd be flabbergasted if JR was the only one in the know. He needs to stop trying to keep himself relevant and just settle down to his BBQ sauce business. Hey hey, no questioning good ol' JR's credibility! JR was tight with the Smashing Pumpkins at the very beginning when they worked for Bill Watts in the early 80s, back when they called themselves the Rock 'n' Roll express. He's stayed close to them ever since, in fact he even played bass on Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness!

He sure would make the company GLOW. He's going to turn TNA into an all female promotion? Nah. Wabbits.

To be fair, it's a discussion forum and it's TNA. Pretty much nothing big they hype up or no rumor about them ever pans out, so we'd basically have nothing to talk about.

Billy Corgan Tweeted this to Dave Meltzer, after Meltzer implied that he couldn't afford TNA:
Billy Corgan @billy 11h
@davemeltzerwon wasn't aware that you know the state of my empire! Next time maybe just ask....
Dave Meltzer @davemeltzerwon 2h
@billy Let's talk.

Dave Meltzer really needs to f*** off. Even if he is "credible" he makes me want to hit things. Though if he and Billy are talking it might mean we'll have some answers soon.

People estimate Corgan's net worth at being in the $50 million range, the most generous estimates of TNA's worth put them in he $20 million range though likely far, far less.

Look, why should any of us get excited at the thought of Billy Corgan buying TNA?
Even if he does, what will change? Is he the saviour pro wrestling has desperately needed since 2001?
What is he going to do different?

What is he going to do different? The fact that he is someone different is the exact reason why we should be excited. The fact of the mere unknown, he isn't one of the same 10 or so guys who has been pissing into the sea of wrestling for the past two decades and has the possibility to bring on the change that the industry needs. No one is saying he IS the savior but the chance that he could be? Well that's enough for some.

What is he going to do different? He is not Dixie Carter. Or Eric Bischoff. Those are the only reasons I think of that would make people excited about this. No one knows what he would do as owner, both creatively or from a marketing standpoint, so it is all a guessing game at this point. For me, as long as the new owner cares about wrestling and wants to invest in TNA's improvement, then I'm on board.

What is he going to do different? I'm more excited by the prospect of having the guys Corgan surrounds himself with being involved with the day to day running of TNA, people like Dreamer, Lou E (I know getting him employed full time is a long shot but having him giving advice on promoting live shows can't hurt), Raven, people with actual experience running a promotion the size of TNA who know the limitations, what they're working with and what they have to do to grow the business rather than the Carters and Jarrett who want to jump from A to F without going through points B, C, D and E because they think it worked for WCW. I'm tired of the stupid gimmicks, the idea that if they throw money at enough big stars they'll become a big company while treating the rest of the card like crap when it's failed time and time again. I don't think he'll revolutionise the business, I think we'll get a more coherent product over the long term and, given how preachy he can be, I would hope we'd see an end to the *bleep* treatment of guys that get injured on TNA's watch. And at the very least, he's not Bischoff. Bischoff takes over, they'll be dead in 2 years.

Corgan also is a huge fan. He actually wanted to get involved with AAW (I mentioned this earlier) but the owners didn't agree creatively with him. Corgan also follows indy wrestling as Resistance Pro was started after talking to guys who felt they hadn't gotten a fair chance anywhere.

No one is saying he IS the savior but the chance that he could be? Well that's enough for some. I agree with this. One criticism I'd heard about Dixie Carter was that she was, if anything, too nice to be in the wrestling biz. People would come in, whether they were actually doing TNA any good or not, and Dixie would keep 'em around, and the problems would persist. When people would chant "Fire Russo", the same writers/bookers remained. Whether or not Russo came up with the things that provoked the chants, the point is, fans hated what they were seeing and wanted it to change. And it never did. A proper new regime, not just the old one saying they're different, might be the one to finally clean TNA up and rebuild it, because that's what it needs. Not fancy gimmickry or rebranding, but actual CHANGE. If Billy Corgan is in the running to buy TNA, and is serious about making a go of it, then he could be the one to make it happen. If it's someone else who is prepared to do things, then again it can only be a good thing.

What is he going to do different? His last name isn't Carter, Jarrett, Hogan, Turner, Bischoff, Heyman, McMahon, Russo, or Cornette. He's not connected to any of these people who have had a strangle hold over wrestling the past 30 years. Yeah it might suck, but wrestling needs new ideas and way to improve on the same old same old formula.
