^WWE hasn't done a pre show battle Royal since WM 27.
And yes those guys may get to work Axxess events. But imo if it doesn't happen in front of a camera it doesn't mean anything. Axxess is just a glorified house show. You don't see people talking about it on TV.
And I wasn't talking about the Mania card itself. I was talking about the buildup. Those big stars will take up a disproportionately large amount of screen time, forcing the likes of Miz, Kofi, etc to the c-shows and forcing them in turn to bump off the c-show regulars. So we'd end up not seeing Hunico or Zack Ryder at all.

They're going to be back on Raw as soon as Mania has passed. The disproportion you speak of makes complete sense espc if WWE is trying to sell a very expensive show to the masses. If Hunico and Zack Ryder are not going to be on Mania, why should they be showcased on the shows in the lead up? We get a great Punk promo to open a show about his upcoming match with whomever at Mania and follow it up with a Miz vs Sin Cara match? Borrrrrrrring. Thats channel change time for the casual fan which the majority of people who watch WWE are.

...just imagine if the main reason WWE rehired Batista is so that HHH can finally get his win back.

...just imagine if the main reason WWE rehired Batista is so that HHH can finally get his win back. I don't think that's it. I mean the WWE has a prime opportunity to re-hire D-Von so Hunter can get that long elusive win back over the reverend!

So... Batista v Lesnar Wrestlemania? Maybe they couldn't get Goldberg and still needed somebody to beat Ryback.

I doubt they bring him back heel so Sheamus must be coming back heel. Those two as douche faces on the same show would make the WWE Universe implode.

wouldn't mind him coming back for a little while but I'm not sure there's really room for him on the roster anymore.

If Batista comes back there is one and only one thing that needs to happen. WWE works out a one time only return for the Ultimate Warrior and the two of them walk to the ring but stay outside it on opposite sides. They stare each other down with great ferocity, grab hold of the ropes with both hands...and proceed to furiously shake them for twenty minutes. Greatest segment ever.

The fact that they're shoving the Shows/Mysterios/Henrys into the tag division, which is already full of great tag teams comprised of guys that have potential to be breakout singles stars, shows that the roster is crowded. Batista is a name and he'll make some impact right away. But that potential needs to be harvested at some point, they keep delaying it by bringing in older stars. So overall, I will say "nay" to Batista's return. I have spoken, reality will react thusly.

To up this even further, he needs to come back in full Brass Body make-up.

What are the odds that he'll be this year's #30 in the Rumble?

The thing is, if Batista isn't above the Jericho tier... WWE's whole business strategy of recent years of relying on big name part-timers from past eras to spike profits around Wrestlemania season and a few other times over the year is really going to start falling apart in not that long... if Batista's return can't draw, bringing back post-retirement Orton and Punk for special appearances sure as hell can't either. Which leaves Cena as the only plausible candidate for a bankable star from the modern generation. And that's really sad, that no one else of this generation managed to come close to that level. But on the opposite side of that problem: If Batista IS above the Jericho tier to be at the Lesnar/Rock tier...then WWE can no longer make ANYONE a bankable star and will never be able to again. When The Rock was fighting John Cena, it was one thing. We knew that The Rock was one of the biggest stars in WWE history [and if Austin or Hogan came back and went for a Cena dream match, it would be the same thing.] Having Cena be a lesser name trying to go after The Rock made sense just due to that- and for Cena to strike a blow against the current era against the Attitude Era's blow by taking out its biggest name. When Lesnar came back, it was more of a stretch- but even then, you could "kind of" buy Lesnar being in the tier- he came in, he destroyed everyone [including Cena while he was still rising], then got out quickly with no one left to conquer- then went to UFC and did the same thing. He was the same era as Cena, but you could buy him as having been bigger just because Cena never got a chance to overtake him as a WWE superstar. Batista, though? We saw the Batista experience for the 2000s. We know- firsthand, Batista was a big name star- but John Cena was a bigger star than Batista was. Hell, the entire crux of Douchetista's heel turn and feud with Cena to him leaving was Batista admitting "John Cena's a bigger star than I am!" (even with the "...and I'm sick of it!" part to make the feud happen.) That part alone is why Batista CANNOT be at the same tier, and should default to the Jericho/RVD level: We KNOW John Cena is a bigger star than Batista is. If Batista leaves, then comes back as a conquering God and we're told that he's a bigger star than John Cena, now, then the message would become "All these modern guys are a bunch of chumps. If they were worth your cheers, they'd leave us and then come back. Then, they'd be REAL stars."
