The sad thing is that all of this is leading to a Batista/Alboreto feud, which will be terrible. if it's just Batista squashing Del Rio repeatedly in as one-sided a manner as possible it'll be funny.

As if Batista was an A level player in an A level star era.... like I said, triple H taught this one well.

I'm not sure which line comes across as dumber. The don't turn a work into a shoot one, where Batista does just that by using those terms, or the B level star one, where Batista pretty much insults himself as well as the rest of the roster, considering he's part of the same era. Not dumb. What Batista is saying with the B Level Star thing is that when Batista was last part of the company the WWE was actually a pretty different landscape, there were a lot of big "A Level" stars that have since either retired (Edge, HBK), gone part time (Jericho, Undertaker, Triple H), or left (Jeff Hardy, Batista himself) leaving the WWE very starved for "star power" and lacking in superstars. The time he left kind of WAS a different era than the one we're in now, even though Cena is still on top and the tone of the show is the same for the most part, the loss of full time star power is definitely a noteable change. Thats what Batista is kidna pointing out, that Alberto rose to "stardom" during a time where he was a medium sized fish during a time where there weren't that many big fish in the pond. So he isn't insulting himself. ((The work/shoot part is obnoxious though so I'm on your page there. )) Looking at some of those superstars you listed, I question what your requirements are for what makes an "A Level" star. And if Batista is right and this is a B level era, then that makes Batista a C Level star as well since there are still a few superstars on the roster today that are bigger than he is. Which is why I'm saying that his tweet was dumb. He's an idiot that doesn't even realize that he's buying into his own hype, just like he claims Del Rio is.

I figure it's a work. He's using the same language that Trips and Stephanie used. Mainly with the grading and referring to what level people are. No one really talked like that in the past and I don't think it's coincidence that it's suddenly happening with more than just the authority using that language.

Batista is in the ensemble cast of what is likely to be the biggest film of the summer (and possibly even the year)
If he isn't an "A level" talent now he will be in a few months.

Failed in the sense that he still has to come back to a company that he loathes. Where did he say he loathes the company? If he disliked it that much he wouldn't be coming back.

He hated "PG man!", he's basicaly a 40 year old jacked up youtube commentor. I can imagine him flipping on Raw one night and hearing CM Punk say "douchebag" or something and spitting out his protein shake. "FINALLY, I CAN GO BACK TO WRESTLING AND FEEL KEWL ABOUT IT!"

Oye, Alberto, you really think you get to mock anybody for their MMA career? Hey, Alberto survived against Cro Cop. Granted, it was a TKO 46 seconds into the match. But you know the old saying, "Right foot hospital, left foot cemetery."

Even if he did hate it, if he's getting a Brock/Rock/RVD deal, why wouldn't he come back for that type of $?

Guardians is a huge achievement for him, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure I'd crown Guardians yet, considering it's an obscure comic book with a goofy premise in an already oversaturated market. Since it'll be competing against a Transformers movie, a Captain America movie, and TMNT, not to mention any other movies that could creep up, it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't draw people out to the box office the way a lot of previous Marvel movies did. When you throw in RE6, Spider-Man 2, Hunger Games 3 and the new Hobbit, it wouldn't surprise me if Guardians isn't in the top 5. Of course, I could be wrong, but I think Marvel is destined to misstep sometime, especially since Agents of Shield proved that they're not bulletproof. If any title will do it, it'll be the one that tells us to take a CGI raccoon and a tree as a serious main leads.

That's fair, but if it's the sort of money that will set up your family for generations, and you're not having to do something ethically reprehensible, I believe I could swallow any pride for a year or two.

Being in a popular movie doesn't make one popular by default. If it did, people'd remember more than three of the actors from Lincoln (Daniel Day Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones). Whether or not Guardians works out, it won't be because of him and it won't validate him as an actor. Fact.

He's also a grandfather. It doesn't hurt getting WWE money for 2 years to help you and your family out come retirement. And he'll likely be working a lot less than he did back when he was around every week (barring injuries). Honestly, Batista and Brock Lesnar are the geniuses of the business: make as much as possible for as little work.

The kinda money he'll have for a short stint sets his kids kids up for life if they manage it right.
