Likely Guardians of the Galaxy.
Because if someone likes Batista in the movie...they'll start watching wrestling. Just like what happened with Rock. Right? RIGHT?

Batista didn't look much better when he wrestled full time btw...
I say, if you have to have your entrant come in at #28, not as a surprise, but because they'll die if they come in earlier...you should reconsider the winner.

Being Triple H's boy is a big part of it, I think. I understand that he's got some star power, but he hasn't been gone that long and they dragged every bit of drawing power he ever had out of him before he left.
Compare Lesnar and Batista. Lesnar was gone longer, his return was a bigger deal, he's more of a mainstream name and draw as he was UFC Heavyweight Champion when UFC was doing peak business. Comes back and loses to Cena right off the bat. Batista waltzes right back in and wins the Royal Rumble, and being the babyface in a Mania title match, he's probably going to win the damn title.
This isn't HHHating, it's just the simplest explanation, it makes too much sense.

His role in Guardians of the Galaxy is not going to be a big starring role. He's not the main villain. He's going to be the dragon, the main thug who grumbles a few words and hits people. Absolutely no one is going to remember his part in it comes next year.

Movie. Even though Guardians of the Galaxy is a C-list Marvel property at best.

Batista didn't look much better when he wrestled full time btw... At least he wasn't in his underwear. Brother looked like he just finished up with the face side of the Divas locker room before realizing his number in the Rumble was about to be called forcing him to sprint to gorrilla in his skivvies.

Seriously. He was in there for what? Like 10 minutes? He looked like he was about to pass out. I looked over to my friend when they panned to him and said how he looked like he's been in longer than Rollins or Punk. He looked like he ran a marathon before entering the match. In his stupid shorts and stupid shoes and stupid face.

Honestly, yeah. Remove Bryan from the equation completely, why not have Punk win to shatter the Authority's golden boy in Orton? Yes, Punk's hurt right now, but he could take the month off from wrestling and do promos and heal up before Mania. Batista would have been good in the Special Attraction role at Mania. Not in the main event. Say what you want about the Rock, but he didn't look like a shoo-in to beat Cena at WrestleMania last year. Batista didn't look much better when he wrestled full time btw... At least he wasn't in his underwear. Brother looked like he just finished up with the face side of the Divas locker room before realizing his number in the Rumble was about to be called forcing him to sprint to gorrilla in his skivvies. So THAT'S why AJ and Naomi didn't wrestle tonight.

Probably because of Guardians of the Galaxy. It looks good having a movie star become the champion, like Rock did last year. This is a stupid reason if true. Batista is like 1/100th of the star The Rock is. Rock is a bonafide A-Lister. Yes, Batista is in a possible summer blockbuster, but he's like the 10th most famous guy in the movie. It's not like he's going to be coming out on Regis and Kelly or David Letterman with the WWE title. They're going to send him to do the press stuff that the more famous people (Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, etc.) don't want to do. You seem to forget, WWE Wants/Needs to feel like they're relevant to something mainstream and popular. They latch on to anyone that's managed to "break through" into that as well. They don't care that it's a risky venture, an ex-WWE superstar is in a Marvel Movie.

They overestimated his appeal. Essentially this. They expected it to be some sort of nostalgia pop and hook people back in that hadn't watched in a while. We now know that the likelihood of this is nominal at best.

Absolutely no one is going to remember his part in it comes next year. He's playing Drax The Destroyer, a member of the Guardians. It's definitely not the starring role but he's going to be far from 'first boss' bit part.

Probably planned for a while but the rating Monday sealed the deal, if it needed sealing. Simple as that really, they're going with a guy their audience numbers tell them there's most interest in. Or in today's speak "Spitting in the face of the fans". Pick your poison. Will you stop with that ratings thing. Its all you've posted in almost every thread. I would never build an entire angle and main event for the biggest PPV of the year off of a "ratings pop"

Because he'll be in a blockbuster this summer. They should have put the belt on Nash before Magic Mike.

Whether he can maintain the ratings pop remains to be seen. He's in a no-win situation with many now though as if he can't he'll be rounded on and if he does it'll be put down to the time of year rather than his presence.
Ratings return to normal "See, he's not a draw"
Ratings continue higher than average "It's road to WM, nothing to do with him"
He's not my favourite guy at all but it's a tough situation now.

I honestly don't mind Batista THAT much. Him coming back and being thrust into a featured angle? Okay, but winning the royal freaking rumble? Come on... I can't help but feel they just went down the list of guys who could come back for a wrestlemania match cause The Rock wasn't available. That's coming from someone who actually sort of likes Batista, he's not my favorite but he was never a guy I absolutely hated , either. He's in a no win situation now, hell anyone who won the rumble would have been. I think the only way they would have gotten a good reaction out of this is if Reigns threw Batista out. Just cause it'd be a twist and not the typical thing we've all prophecized since Batista was announced as returning. I hope this doesnt mean we dont do Batista Photoshop threads tho out of anger I love those.
