She even did that "haw haw haw" laugh that French people do, in order to mock him. 5 stars.

.....I just read the plot on Wikipedia. What the god damn hell is that?!? That story - if true - COMPLETELY DESTROYS SLEEPING BEAUTY in almost every single way. A 2-hour long film of people going to the bathroom on the original Sleeping Beauty film reels would've been less offensive than the plot I just read. Boy, I really hope Paul Dini had nothing to do with this now. I just called my mom, too (who loved the original Disney movie), and told her what I read - she went to a wake for a 15-year old girl earlier and I think THIS is what ruined her day. Did you possibly just make me make my mom almost cry, Disney?!?!!I just did the same thing as you and {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}The end where Maleficent's kiss is the true love kiss that wakes up Sleeping Beauty. Holy crap that is absolutely terrible. The spoiler... wha?

Does it even remotely make sense in context? Cuz just reading the spoiler on its own, I'm struggling to think of how it would even get to that point.

Why can't villains just be villains? I'm sick of this shit where good guys are bad and bad guys are good. It makes it hard for me to get involved in a story. I like heroes and villains. I can't support a bad good guy if he's fighting a good bad guy, because on some level, they are both assholes.

The best ones are layered of course, but still evil.
Take Magneto for example, as he's one of the best layered villains in pop culture. You get WHY he's like he is; his motivations make sense, and on some level you sympathize. But he's still a murderer and potential despot who's a villain.

I'll just be glad I don't have to see this trailer anymore in EVERY movie I go see. I'll be especially glad when Angelina Jolie just goes away.

I could never buy the idea that someone woke up one morning and said "I think I'll be evil today". They don't have to be sympathetic, just have a reason for being evil. Even if that reason is that they were just "bred" to be evil.

I liked her during her Hackers, Foxfire, Girl Interrupted and Gia days when she looked like she could easily stab someone if she got pissed. Haven't been a big fan since she became the Brangelina UN ambassador and lover of all the children of the world.

Even if that reason is that they were just "bred" to be evil. Yeah... but here's an easy way for Maleficent which doesn't make one of the best villains Disney has into the good guy. For instance Power. Maleficint wants power at any cost and sells her soul to the devil to get it (Figuratively or literally either way works) that took me five seconds to come up with.

Does it even remotely make sense in context? Cuz just reading the spoiler on its own, I'm struggling to think of how it would even get to that point. {Spoiler}See, the plot of the movie is that Maleficent (who's not evil, you see) feels bad about putting the curse on Aurora. And when Aurora gets old enough, she finds Maleficent (who's not evil, you see) and the 2 become friends. And Maleficent(who's not evil, you see) grows to care for her a lot.
Because Maleficent's not evil, you see. ..........we've seen filmmakers before twist around & change fairy tales before. If it had been some other movie company making this movie, MAYBE we'd be talking better of it. But the fact that Disney is actually doing this just seems.....so so wrong.

And would be better than what this movie gave us. Hell go the Doom/Luthor route and use jealousy/arrogance as a reason, Anything but the bullshit that was this movie

I thought it was a fun movie, but I can imagine being kind of upset if I cared about Sleeping Beauty at all. I've never even seen it.

I may have seen the original Sleeping Beauty, but it was so long ago I don't even remember it. I just think the new movie looks like a neat fantasy type film myself.

Remember when I asked why Once Upon A Time did "shades of grey" better? Well...while the villains have multiple layers, the GOOD GUYS REMAIN GOOD GUYS DEEP DOWN. I just saw the movie, and basically it comes down to "Maleficent is responsible for everything good in Aurora's story." The other "good" characters are turned into idiots, bullies, or people who just don't care. Take their roles out, and place Maleficent liberally. Yes even {Spoiler}{Spoiler} with the climax of SB's story. I understand what they were going for, but...yeah. If it was a fanfic Aurora and Mal would be full-blown lesbians, I'm sure. The three fairies don't even get their original names! And what upset me also was... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Mal isn't even the one who gets to become the dragon. On the plus side, there were a lot of nice images and scenery. And Jolie looked like Mal. One could get cut on her cheekbones, though. Oh, and {Spoiler} Mal and Aurora bonding reminded me of Skeletor and those kids in the He-Man Christmas. I also propose we start a new meme crediting Maleficent for every positive event ever in the world. Like, Maleficent killed Osama Bin Laden. Maleficent cured cancer. Maleficent was killed on a cross for our sins. And so on and so on....

Maleficent was the one who told Rocky he could go the distance with Apollo Creed. Maleficent was the one person that Rocky had to beat in a race in order to finish his training, complete with a post-race frolic at a beach.
