Attorneys for CM Punk have reportedly sent a 22 page letter to WWE over royalties Punk feels he’s owed, for the use Punk’s likeness, particularly where it concerns WWE 2k15. The belief is WWE stopped paying Punk royalties because they felt he breached his contract with the company.

You could just see it coming, people are calling the WWE on their bullshit these days. It's only a matter of time until the independent contractor bullshit gets brought to light.

Wonder how this is working? I remember initial reports saying he was still getting his royalties. I wonder if, now that his contract is expired, they've cut off that stream on him?

I don't understand this. Since when can WWE only use the likenesses of people employed by them?

Well good, if he's owed money then he's quite right to ask for it and I hope they cough up without throwing a hissy fit. Just do it. Ha. That's how they'll raise the cash!

Makes sense, he is half of the story mode in WWE 2k15. This kind of thing seems to happen pretty often, I don't think it'll be a big deal.
Call me naive but I don't think AJ will have blowback from this. Plus, since she's the best they have, they just wouldn't have a woman's division if they tried to get rid of AJ at the moment. (Paige is great too, but you need more than one to make a division.)

Wow, now the WWE is (allegedly) using a talent's name/likeness without paying him for it?
Someone has to knock Vince off of his high horse.

How'd you get GIMME MY MOTHERf***IN MONEY to 22 pages Well he started it with "This isn't just a letter from my lawyers this is a pipebomb." He also proceeded to say "This isn't CM Punk writing to Triple H this is Phil Brooks writing to Paul Levesque." From there he went into a 17 page rant about how The Walking Dead could be prevented if Pepsi was made the official drink of Earth.

Oh man. Between Punk and Del Rio, WWE's legal team is in for some busy times.

I don't understand this. Since when can WWE only use the likenesses of people employed by them? WWE, or anyone for that matter, can only use the likenesses of people whom they pay for the right to do so. They can continue to sell things from their tape library and other materials generated during their contract, but they still have to pay royalties (it is what Ventura successfully sued them over).

Yeah... can we not pass judgement on legality already when all we know about the situation is 2 sentences of reporting?

Yeah... can we not pass judgement on legality already when all we know about the situation is 2 sentences of reporting? It's never stopped anyone. Doesn't stop them from forgetting entirely how much shit they got wrong whenever the next scandal hits.

Yeah... can we not pass judgement on legality already when all we know about the situation is 2 sentences of reporting? Well, I think we have enough to speculate at least. If WWE isn't paying Punk to use his likeness in 2K15 or whatever it may be, there's a case there. Plus, I have a feeling that "breach of contract" doesn't work so well if they're independent contractors, but who knows.
